WARNING SIGNS FROM YOUR FINGERNAILS ABOUT YOUR HEALTH | Healthy Living Tips

02:55
Most people don’t consider this important, but our fingernails can actually tell a lot about our health. Any kind of change in the nails may indicate a certain disease or condition, which is why we need to pay more attention to them. ▶ Download Android App for Free - https://goo.gl/GnKAsj Take a look at your nails – have they changed their color or have dips and ridges on them? Are they thicker than usually or chipped? All these changes can indicate serious health problems and help you detect the problem on time. Here are 8 nail changes which indicate serious health problems: CLUBBED NAILS If your nails are clubbed and “puffed” around the fingers, it may be a sign of inflammatory bowel disease, respiratory disease, AIDS or liver disease. Dry AND BRITTLE NAILS Brittle and dry nails are usually associated with hormonal imbalance or bacterial and fungal infections. RIDGES ON THE NAILS Ridges on the fingernails may be a warning sign of arthritis, iron deficiency or lupus. If you notice ridges on your nails you should visit your doctor as soon as possible. PITTED NAILS Small dips and pits in the nails usually indicate alopecia areata, psoriasis, connective tissue problems or zinc deficiency. SPOONED NAILS If your nails look curved like a spoon, you might be suffering from iron deficiency, hypothyroidism, heart disease or hemochromatosis (a liver disorder caused by high iron absorption). SPLIT NAILS Split nails have a tendency to flake and are generally caused by malnutrition, some nutrients deficiencies (folic acid, vitamin C, protein) or psoriasis. THICKENED NAILS The nails should be thin, smooth and strong, and never thick. Thickened nails indicate circulation problems, lung diseases, fungal infections, thyroid problems or psoriasis. DISCOLORED NAILS The color of your nails can tell you if you’re suffering from a certain problem. White nails may be a sign of hepatitis, while dark stripes near the top indicate congestive heart failure. Blue nails are a sign of low blood oxygen levels, while green nails indicate bacterial infections. Dull-colored nails are a sign of vitamin deficiencies, while red streaks on the fingernails may be an early sign of heart valve infections. As you can see, our fingernails can tell a lot about our health, which is why it’s important to notice any kind of change and take it seriously.

What Causes Ridges in Finger and Toenails

01:58
What Causes Horizontal & vertical Ridges in Finger and Toenails Ridges in fingernails Vertical ridges sometimes appear along the length of the fingernails. Sometimes marks, discoloration or pits or grooves on a fingernail, such as those that run from side to side (known as Beau's lines), can be an indication of a nail injury or a health problem. However, in the case of vertical ridges, there is normally no reason to be concerned. These ridges look and feel like raised lines, and they run from the cuticle at the base of the fingernail to the tip. These ridges are not usually a sign of injury or a health problem but are a harmless result of ageing. They often become more prominent or numerous as you get older. However, if the vertical ridges are accompanied by brittle nails, with jagged edges or splitting, you may have a condition known as onychorrhexis, which may be linked to a skin-related medical condition such as lichen planus, a type of non-infectious skin rash, or certain other health conditions such as anaemia or an underactive thyroid gland. Also, if the ridges run horizontally from side to side, they may indicate a health problem. So you should seek medical advice

What Your Nails Reveal about Your Health

10:47
Did you know that your fingernails can provide clues to your overall health? Abnormalities that occur on the nails may warrant a closer look. White Dots On Nails Leukonychia Commonly called white nails or milk spots, and is more frequently located on fingernails compared to toenails and often can be found in the central portion of the nail plate. The normal nail beds needs to be pink in color. These white spots usually are not hatrmful, although in some other situations it could be an indication of an underlying disease. Bacterial or perhaps fungal infection on the nails could potentially cause, this effect. This condition can also be found in people with arsenic poisoning, kidney failure or respiratory conditions. Contact with extreme cold could possibly result in this condition, but these spots will slowly vanish over time. Cracked or Split Nails Dry, brittle nails that frequently crack or split have been linked to thyroid disease. Cracking or splitting combined with a yellowish colour is more likely due to a fungal infection. Low levels of Vitamin C, folic acid, and certain proteins in the diet are also known to cause nail splitting. White Nails If the nails are mostly white with darker rims, this can indicate liver problems, such as hepatitis. Nails yellowish in color can indicate jaundice, which is another sign of liver trouble. Very pale nails can sometimes be a sign of other serious illnesses, such as: Anemia Congestive heart failure Liver disease Malnutrition White Dots If small white dots that appear on the surface of the nail that won't budge when you try to buff them off, this is usually due to some type of trauma—such as a banged finger. In time they should grow out and fade, but if they don't go away it could be a sign of milk spots as discussed earlier so you may need to see a dermatologist. Bluish Nails The medical term of Blue fingernails is cyanosis, and can be a sign of various disorders so it should be checked out. While very cold temperatures can temporarily slow the flow of blood through the skin leading to a bluish color, this should go away once you warm up. It can also be a sign of Raynaud's disease. Yellow Nails Syndrome With yellow nail syndrome, nails thicken and new growth slows. This results in a yellowish discoloration of the nails. One of the most common causes of yellow nails is a fungal infection. As the infection worsens, the nail bed may retract, and nails may thicken, crumble, lack a cuticle and detach from the nail bed in places. Yellow nail syndrome is often a sign of respiratory disease, such as chronic bronchitis. Yellow nail syndrome can also be related to swelling of the hands (lymphedema). In rare cases, yellow nails can indicate a more serious condition such as severe thyroid disease, lung disease, diabetes or psoriasis Nail Pitting Small hole or ice pick-like depressions in the nails (nail pitting) are common in people who have psoriasis, which is a condition characterized by scaly patches on the skin. Nail pitting can also be related to connective tissue disorders, such as Reiter's syndrome, and alopecia Green Nails Green nails are the result of a pseudomonal infection, which is usually caused by the environment. This means that those who's immune system is already low are very susceptible to this type of nail infection which makes the nail often appears green in color. Nail Ridges These can either be horizontal or vertical. With vertical nail ridges, this can signify nutrition issues, moisture loss or nutritional absorption issues. Horizontal ridges in the nail are often associated with diabetes, liver diseases or other chronic diseases. Dark Lines Beneath the Nail If you have dark skin, it's fairly common to have streaks of the pigment melanin down your fingernails. However, you should still get this checked by a doctor, as it may occasionally indicate a form of skin cancer called subungual melanoma, the most dangerous type of skin cancer. Generally this only affects one nail, causing the stripe to change in appearance, and becoming wider or darker over time. The pigmentation may also affect the surrounding skin. Rippled Nails

Nail Symptoms and What It Means for Your Health!

04:22
Did you know that your fingernails can provide clues to your overall health? Healthy nails grow, on average 3.5 millimeters a month, but this is influenced by your nutritional status, medications, trauma, chronic disease, and the aging process itself. If you notice any significant changes in your nails, including swelling, discolorations, or changes in shape or thickness, see a dermatologist right away. It could be nothing, or it could be due to an underlying condition. Below are the nail symptoms you might experience in your lifetime and what they mean for your health. White Lines Across Nails Also dubbed "Muehrcke's lines," these double white lines run horizontally across the nails, and are typically most clearly seen on the index, middle, and ring fingers. Commonly, these lines can indicate low levels of protein in the blood, which can be caused by liver disease or malnutrition, or during periods of stress, especially ones that affect your metabolism. Dark Stripes Running Down Nails In many cases, these dark, vertical stripes across your nails are harmless. However, there is a chance that they could be a sign of subungual melanoma, an extremely ferocious form of cancer that occurs on the toes or fingers. Red Or Brown Streaks Underneath Nails Also called splinter hemorrhage, these thin, reddish brown streaks underneath the nails are primarily tiny, damaged blood vessels. They can indicate wider, more severe causes that have to do with inflammation or swelling, including medical conditions like rheumatoid arthritis and psoriasis. Discolored Nails Discolored nails can indicate various things, including signs of an infection, a nutritional deficiency, and a problem with one of your organs. Yellowish nail points to a fungal nail infection, or even psoriasis. Brown nails can indicate a thyroid disease or malnutrition. White nails can point to an iron deficiency. Bluish-gray tint can mean that your body might not be getting enough oxygen. It could also point to an issue with your lungs or heart. Brittle, Crumbly Nails Dry, brittle nails that frequently split or crack have been linked to things like thyroid disease and fungal infections. They can also indicate lichen planus, a condition that results in itchy rashes on the skin or around the mouth. Thickened Nails Among many other possible causes, thickened nails can form due to reactive arthritis (a really painful kind of inflammatory arthritis) and lung diseases. Another possible explanation is poor circulation. Medical conditions, like diabetes, can slow down the blood flow through the fingers and toes, and affect the quality of the skin. Spoon-Shaped Nails Spoon-shaped fingernails curve inward, and look like they are "scooping" outward. They can indicate a condition known as koilonychia, a disease that can be an indicator of hypochromic anemia, which leaves the red blood cells paler than normal. In addition, these nails can be a sign of hemochromatosis, a liver condition that is caused by a surplus of iron. They can also be a sign of heart disease or hypothyroidism. Pitting Or Denting In Nails Medical conditions such as psoriasis and reactive arthritis are likely be the reason that you're seeing little dents in your nails. Other possibilities include eczema and alopecia areata, a genetic disease that results in spot baldness. Grooves In Nails Also dubbed "Beau's lines," these horizontal grooves are ridges and indentations in the nails. There are several causes, including malfunctions during cell division, infections in the nail fold, or finger injuries. Nail Clubbing Also known as drumstick fingers and watch-glass nails, clubbed nails occur when the nails curve around the fingertips. This could be totally harmless — there might be an increased blood flow to the fingertips, and this could even be a genetic occurrence. Clubbed nails could also indicate lung and liver disease, heart disease, and inflammatory bowel disease, according to Hills.

7 Ways To Reduce Fingernail Ridges ingrown

05:06
7 Ways To Reduce Fingernail Ridges ! Palm readers carefully inspect your hands to try to figure out what life may someday offer you. The only trouble is they could be looking at the wrong side of your hands. For predicting your future health, you may be better off consulting your fingernails, not your palms. The ridges that appear in your nails, either vertically or horizontally, can indicate several serious medical conditions. Vertical, or longitudinal, ridges, which run from the base of the nail to the tip, are most typical. They are usually normal and are related to aging or genetics. “Anyone over age 50 can expect to see more ridging in their nails as they age,” Severe ridging and cracking or sudden onset of vertical ridges serve as an alert to see a doctor, since they could be a sign of poor general health, poor nutrient absorption, or iron deficiency, Glaser says. They may also indicate rheumatoid arthritis or a circulatory or kidney disorder. Horizontal, or transverse, fingernail ridges, which run from left to right, may occur as a result of severe psychological or physical stress, such as from infection or disease. Often called Beau’s lines, they can occur after illness or trauma to the nail and with malnutrition. They can also be the result of habitually picking at or chewing your nail and cuticle, a nervous tic in some people. Hormonal changes, genetics, and the way your body uses calcium are all factors that contribute to the rise of nail ridges. Nail ridges don’t always signal a larger problem, though. “Remember, vertical ridges are like gray hair. You can expect to see more of them as you grow older,” Kechijian stresses. Here are some ways to reduce your fingernail ridges. Buff 'Em ! You can gently buff your nails with a buffing block to minimize the ridges, Be Gentle ! Don’t try to completely buff out the nail ridges—overzealous buffing can weaken the nail plate, Eat A Well-Balanced Diet ! Ridged nails can be the result of something lacking in your diet, Glaser says. “When people come into my office with severe nail changes, I immediately ask them for a dietary history to make sure that they aren’t on some fad diet keeping them from getting their recommended daily allowance of vitamins and minerals. “If they’re not eating a well-balanced diet, then a proper diet and a vitamin supplement might help the health of their nails.” Don't Overdo It With The Emory Board Filing your nails is actually sanding your nails. If you oversand them, it will thin the nail and cause damage, which invites infection. So avoid overdoing it. The ABCs of Nail Care ! Because many nail disorders result from poor nail care, developing good nail habits today will help keep them healthy. Remember the following tips: Keep them short. Shorter nails are less likely to crack or get caught on something and tear, says Kechijian. He also suggests cutting your nails after bathing, when they’re softer and less likely to break. Stay on the straight and narrow. Nails should be cut straight across and rounded slightly at the tip for maximum strength, says C. Ralph Daniel III, MD. Avoid biting your fingernails. Your five-finger feeding frenzy worsens the condition of your nails, When To Call A Doctor ! Report any nail irregularities to your doctor or dermatologist immediately. Sudden nail changes (such as nail ridges) or swelling and pain could signal a serious problem, Panel Of Advisors ! Coyle S. Connolly, DO, is a dermatologist and assistant clinical professor at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and the president of Connolly Dermatology in Linwood, New Jersey. C. Ralph Daniel III, MD, is a clinical professor of dermatology at the University of Mississippi Medical Center and a clinical associate professor of dermatology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. In this image, you can see the fingers are also jaundiced, another sign of liver trouble. Yellow Nails One of the most common causes of yellow nails is a fungal infection. As the infection worsens, the nail bed may retract, and nails may thicken and crumble. In rare cases, yellow nails can indicate a more serious condition such as severe thyroid disease, lung disease, diabetes or psoriasis. Bluish Nails Nails with a bluish tint can mean the body isn't getting enough oxygen. This could indicate an infection in the lungs, such as pneumonia. Some heart problems can be associated with bluish nails. Rippled Nails If the nail surface is rippled or pitted, this may be an early sign of psoriasis or inflammatory arthritis. Discoloration of the nail is common; the skin under the nail can seem reddish-brown. Cracked or Split Nails Dry, brittle nails that frequently crack or split have been linked to thyroid disease. Cracking or splitting combined with a yellowish hue is more likely due to a fungal infection. Puffy Nail Fold If the skin around the nail appears red and puffy, this is known as inflammation of the nail fold. It may be the result of lupus or another connective tissue disorder. Infection can also cause redness and inflammation of the nail fold. Dark Lines Beneath the Nail Dark lines beneath the nail should be investigated as soon as possible. They are sometimes caused by melanoma, the most dangerous type of skin cancer.

10 Things Your Nails Can Reveal About Your Health

05:47
10 Things Your Nails Can Reveal About Your Health Nails are often regarded as a purely aesthetic feature, and the $768 million spent annually on nail polish (in the U.S. alone) can attest to that.1 Yet, your nails are far more than a platform for bright colors and nail art. The shape, texture, and color of your natural nails act as a window into your body, and while some nail symptoms are harmless, others can be indicative of chronic diseases, including cancer. As noted by the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD):2 "Nails often reflect our general state of health. Changes in the nail, such as discoloration or thickening, can signal health problems including liver and kidney diseases, heart and lung conditions, anemia, and diabetes." Even the growth rate of your nails may give clues about your underlying health. Healthy nails grow, on average 3.5 millimeters (mm) a month, but this is influenced by your nutritional status, medications, trauma, chronic disease, and the aging process itself.3 If you notice any significant changes in your nails, including swelling, discolorations, or changes in shape or thickness, see a dermatologist right away. It could be nothing, or it could be due to an underlying condition (for instance, nail problems are more common in people with diabetes). Below are 10 nail symptoms you might experience in your lifetime and what they mean for your health. 1. Yellow Nails Your nails may yellow with age or due to the use of acrylic nails or nail polish. Smoking can also stain nails a yellowish hue. If your nails are thick, crumbly, and yellow, a fungal infection could be to blame. Less often, yellow nails may be related to thyroid disease, diabetes, psoriasis, or respiratory disease (such as chronic bronchitis). 2. White Spots Small white spots on your nails are usually the result of nail trauma. They're not cause for concern and will fade or grow out on their own. Less commonly, white spots that do not go away could be due to a fungal infection. 3. Dry, Cracked or Brittle Nails Lifestyle factors may play a role here, such as if you have your hands in water a lot (washing dishes, swimming, etc.), use nail polish remover frequently, are exposed to chemicals (such as cleaning products) often, or live in a region with low humidity. Cracking and splitting can also be caused by a fungal infection or thyroid disease, particularly hypothyroidism. Brittle nails may also be due to a deficiency in vitamins A and C or the B vitamin biotin. 4. Clubbing Clubbing describes when your fingertips become enlarged and the nail becomes curved downward. It can be a sign of low oxygen in your blood and is associated with lung disease. Clubbing can also be related to liver or kidney disease, heart disease, inflammatory bowel disease, and AIDS. 5. Horizontal Ridges Horizontal ridges may also be due to trauma or a serious illness with a high fever (such as from scarlet fever or pneumonia). John Anthony, M.D., a dermatologist at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, explained them this way to TIME: "This is typically the result of direct trauma to the nail or a more serious illness, in which case you'll see it on more than one nail at a time … Your body is literally saying, 'I've got better things to do than make nails' and pauses their growth." Horizontal ridges, also known as Beau's lines, may also be due to psoriasis, uncontrolled diabetes, circulatory disease, or severe zinc deficiency. Another type of horizontal line is known as Mees' lines, which are horizontal discolorations that may be due to arsenic poisoning, Hodgkin's disease, malaria, leprosy, or carbon monoxide poisoning. 6. Vertical Ridges Vertical ridges are typically a normal sign of aging and are not a cause for concern. They may become more prominent as you get older. In some cases, nail ridges may be de to nutrient deficiencies, including vitamin B12 and magnesium. 7. Spoon Nails Nails that curve upward at the edges, taking on a spoon-like appearance, may be a sign of iron-deficiency anemia, hemochromatosis (excess iron absorption), heart disease, or hypothyroidism. 8. Dark Discolorations Black streaks or painful growths on your nail warrant an immediate trip to your physician, as they may be due to melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer. 9. Pitting If your nails have multiple pits or dents, it's often a sign of psoriasis. Nail pitting may also be due to connective tissue disorders (including Reiter's syndrome) or alopecia areata, an autoimmune disease that causes hair loss. 10. White Nails with a Strip of Pink If your nails are mostly white with a narrow pink strip at the top, known as Terry's nails, it could be a sign of liver disease, congestive heart failure, kidney failure, or diabetes. Sometimes Terry's nails may also be due to aging. 10 Things Your Nails Can Reveal About Your Health Subscribe to the channel, watch more videos, like or share a video and leave a comment. Thanks.

NAILS AND HEALTH INDICATORS

04:16
NAILS AND HEALTH INDICATORS Visit http://improvemant.com/ for daily videos on men’s style, women and relationships, sex and attraction, health, domestic skills and motivational topics. Welcome back guys, I recently posted a video where I explained how your eyes can indicate the status of your health and can even indicate serious illnesses or disease in the body. If you missed that video you can watch it here https://youtu.be/I3d71U8nCsI If your nails have visible cracks and are very dry and brittle, this could be a warning signs or a side effect of thyroid disease. If you have blatantly obvious dark lines underneath your nail, this could be linked to or caused by the body suffering from a melanoma which is the most serious form of skin cancer. If your nails are extremely white and pale, this could be an indication of a variety of problems and should be followed up with your doctor to be on the safe side. Some possible issues may be malnutrition, liver disease such as hepatitis and also heart disease. If your nails are very thick, are growing very slowly and are yellowish in colour, this may be an indication of lung related diseases such as emphysema. If your nails are a very strong, bright yellow colour, this could either be a fungal infection or much more serious problems such as diabetes, psoriasis, lung disease or thyroid disease. If you are biting your nails to a point in which they are heavily damaged, very short and even bleeding and infected, this may just be a terrible habit, but it could also be a symptom of stress, anxiety and even obsessive compulsive disorder that may require some medical treatment. If your nails appear to be any shades of blue or purple this may be an indication that your body is not receiving enough oxygen. This may be as a result of lung or heart conditions, circulatory problems or congenital problems and should be followed up with your doctor. If one half of your nail is pink, and the other half is white, this may indicate kidney disease. If your nails have ripples or very fine holes and indents, this may be an indication of inflammatory arthritis or psoriasis. If you have white spots on your nails, this may be due to an iron or zinc deficiency. If your nails are noticeably grey in colour, this could be for a number of reasons including edema, arthritis, malnutrition, glaucoma, lung problems or cardio-pulmonary disease. So whilst these indications may be the worst case scenarios of having any of these colour, shape or texture manipulations, your health is too precious to take risks with, so take the effort to monitor your nails on a regular basis for any of the issues mentioned above, and if you do notice anything then make sure you get along to your doctor and investigate it further. Your Nails And Hands Are Telling A Lot About Dangerous Health Conditions

01:36

A natural and easy way to treat Vertical Lines on the Nails ( Nail Ridges ). I made this video in Hindi, mainly for patients from Mumbai-India. They keep on asking about such conditions and it is not possible for me to reply each one, on phone. So, this video is a general answer. Since, most of them do not understand English, so this video is in Hindi. Thanks Vertical lines (nail ridges) occur due to deficiency of Biotin. Sweet potato is good source of Biotin. So, eating boiled sweet-potato is beneficial. Almonds, fish and eggs are also good. Best of health. Stay blessed

What causes painful horizontal ridges on nails with discomfort? - Dr. Urmila Nischal

01:31
Painful depressions on the nail means there are depressions on the nail plate. Usually the nail plate is nicely convex allover. When there are horizontal ridges, they are called as ridges. This not an acute phenomena. Acute means immediate. It is a chronic phenomena. It is usually not associated with any causes. So it is idiopathic, that means without any cause. Sometimes it signifies some severe conditions like a chronic renal disorder or any metabolic condition. So if there are horizontal ridges on the nails, better to consult a dermatologist and get yourself evaluated and based on the causative factor only, can decide about the management. Sometimes it becomes very difficult to manage the existing ridges. So if the basic process which is causing is controlled, then your nail plate grows normally then you can get rid of your horizontal ridges on the nails.

What Your Nails Are Saying About Your Health

03:30
UNDATED -- It's amazing what your nails can tell you about the inside of your body. Tiny specks or ridges can mean something serious is going on inside. Your nails can tell you things you never thought possible. "There's a lot of different simple small things that seem very minor but they can tell a lot about the inside of their body," said Dr. Matt Bakos, Dermatologist. Dr. Bakos sees at least one person every day with a nail issue. "Any time you have any kind of skin finding that just doesn't go away after a few months probably should be an indicator that you should have it looked at," said Bakos. "There's I would call them horizontal lines and they're just bent down in the middle," said Timothy Eardly "They've been different like that for about five years." Eardly reluctantly shows us his thumbnails. "Dr.'s thoughts were that maybe there was something wrong inside of me my gizzard was broke or something like that and it was revealing itself through my fingernails," said Eardly. As he jokes about his nail situation, he feared it could have been something serious but was relieved to hear just how simple it was to fix. "He said ti was a nervous tick. He said sometimes it gets better, or mu thumbnails will heal, but only if I stop picking at them," said Eardly. But not all nail conditions are that simple. "Skin cancer, melanoma, and even rarely a systemic internal problem such as liver disease heart disease pulmonary disease, connective tissue diseases such as lupus. and other medical conditions," said Dr. Bakos. What might look like harmless red or white specks on your nails, could mean something more sinister. "Liver disease and kidney disease often present with red or white marks on the nails itself," said Dr. Bakos. Melanoma, while known as a skin cancer can show up on your nails. "Brown or black ban going down the entire length of the nail," said Dr. Bakos. What's happening inside of you, like serious lung or heart disease can appear on your nails as well. "They can get what we call clubbing or enlargement of the tips of their fingers," said Dr. Bakos. And those ridges, long, white lines down the length of your nails... "I actually did look that up a couple weeks ago," said Fillerst, "I noticed it wasn't as smooth they're not like that but I googled what causes that." "An indication of dry nails or as a common part of the aging process you get long longitudinal ridges or little lines going down the length of the nail and that's something we see on a routine basis. It's also something that we see if they're constantly in wet work, uh, dishwashers, people that wash their hands a lot it's a common finding as well," said Dr, Bakos. While some conditions are simple and easy to fix it's not something Dr. Bakos recommends ignoring. "There's a lot of different things that could indicate something more serious so it shouldn't be something that should be blown off," said Dr. Bakos. Dr. Bakos says a good rule of thumb is any time you see something different about your nails... You should get them looked at to be on the safe side.

What Your Fingernails Say About Your Health | You need to know | Facts About Nails

02:49
Ever wonder why your nails are so brittle, yellow, or otherwise discolored? Though you may not know it, these seemingly harmless symptoms may indicate you have some underlying health issues. According to John Anthony, MD, a dermatologist at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio and Debra Jaliman, MD, a New York City-based dermatologist and author of "Skin Rules," there are certain nail symptoms that definitely shouldn't be ignored. Here's what eight different nail conditions are signaling about your health 1. Yellow Nails According to WebMD, one of the most common causes of yellow nails is a fungal infection. But in rare cases, they also say that it can indicate a more serious condition such as diabetes, thyroid disease, or lung disease. Smoking can also stain the nails yellow. 2. Cracked or Brittle Nails Dr. Jailman says cracked or brittle nails can be a sign that the nail plate is extremely dry. The condition has also been linked to thyroid disease. Hypothyroidism sometimes causes this side effect as well. 3. Pitted Nails According to MedicineNet, nail pitting is caused by the defective development of the layers of the nail plate, and it is common for those suffering from psoriasis. 4. Ridged Nails Dr. Anthony explains that the reason people will see horizontal ridges on their nails is that there could be direct trauma to the nail, or it could also be a cause of a more serious illness, in which case you’ll see it on more than one nail. That's because the body is focusing it's energy on fighting the illness rather than the nails. 5. Discolored or Dark Lines Beneath According to WebMD, discoloration or a dark line on the nail can sometimes be caused by melanoma, the most dangerous type of skin cancer. Melanoma can also cause a black line or stripe on the nail. It's important to visit your doctor as soon as possible if you notice this. 6. Bitten Nails According to Medical Daily, the American Psychiatric Association’s Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) classifies nail-biting as one of the symptoms of obsessive-compulsive disorder. If it becomes excessive, you should visit your doctor. 7. Bluish Nails WebMD explains that when your nails become bluish, it is a sign that the body may not be getting enough oxygen. Lung problems and heart problems are among the possible causes. 8. White Spots Some have mistakenly concluded that white spots on nails mean calcium deficiency, but Dr. Anthony says they are often a result of trauma such as hitting your finger against something.

Top 5 Signs You're A Healthy Guy - Healthy Men's Health & Fitness Tips

Top 5 Signs You're A Healthy Guy - Men's Health & Fitness Tips https://youtu.be/H6gNNMBFUo4 Looking Out that You Wanna Check Are You A Healthy Guy/ Men? As more and more people are starting to take action to improve their health, it’s helpful to have a few standards to which to compare yourself in order to see how you’re doing. One error many males make is mistaking their “health” to be how they appear on the outside. While a high level of muscle mass definitely does represent a high fitness level, health encompasses much more than that. The 5 Following signs are good guidelines to use to determine where you stand and if there are any areas upon which you need to improve. 1. Can You run a mile in under 15 minutes? :: To test your cardiovascular fitness, on the other hand, try a one-mile run. If it takes you longer than 15 minutes to complete, you’re below average in your fitness level. The faster you can run the mile and the lower your heart rate after running, the better physical conditioning you’re in. 2. Can You perform 20 pushups at a Single Time? :: One great health standard is how many pushups you can perform in a row without rest while maintaining proper form. Performing 20 straight full pushups, maybe even during a lunchtime workout at the office, is a good benchmark of what a typical male should be able to complete. If you come in at less than this, it might be time to devote a little more effort to your strength-training routine. 3. Is Your urine is the colour Of Yellow? :: While it may be the last thing you want to do, checking the colour of your urine after you use the washroom is a great way to tell if you’re hydrated. If your urine is a deep yellow colour, you’re not taking in enough clear fluids. 4. Do You have firm pink nails? :: While you’d never think your fingernails are a sign of good health, they are very telling of your current health condition. You ideally want them to be pink in colour, firm to the touch and have a smooth surface. If you have white spots or a few ripples, it may be time to speak to your doctor, as this could point to diabetes. If your nails are yellow, this can indicate respiratory disease, so take care immediately. 5. Do You have a resting heart rate of around 70 bpm? Do check to look at is your resting heart rate. Ideally, your resting heart rate should be around 70 beats per minute or lower. If it’s higher than this, take it as a sign it may be time to devote a little more time to your cardiovascular training to make your heart stronger and more efficient. Thanks For Watching My Video.
