Thrillist - The Grilled Cheese Bar at Ripple - DC
Fifteen artisanal cheeses both worldly and local are yours to have melted on meat and pressed between choice loaves (ciabatta, brioche, or multigrain) at Ripple's new sandwich bar. Not feeling creative? Then grab one of seven signatures like the epoisses/ asparagus/ anchovy "Stinky Pete", or the jumbo lump crab/ béchamel "Krusty Krab", officially replacing The Simpsons' Krusty burger as the best tasting food with the grossest name. Thrillist - Matchbox Chinatown - Washington, D.C.
The pie standby's just re-upped with a fresh 30ft bar renovation, and, more importantly, made Thrillist's Favorite 5 list of pizza parlors thanks to wood-fired goodness like the Matchbox Meat (pepperoni, spicy Italian sausage, crispy bacon), the Fire & Smoke (red & chipotle pepper, smoked Gouda), and the grilled chicken/portobello Q Special, which you should pay special attention to, as it may just be the bomb. Or like, a grappling hook or something. To get the deets: http://thrl.st/xftjgv

Thrillist - Dirty Martini - Washington D.C.
Michael Romeo's newest resto/lounge, the just-opened Martini sits next to his already established oontz-spot Midtown, and is an absolutely massive nightlife temple with dinner seating for 200 (and party space for 400) under 35ft ceilings, decked throughout with exposed white brick walls, Brazilian walnut seating, and a massive "community table", which is Joel McHale's last hope for someone serving him people food. They've got nine beers on tap (from Flying Dog to Sierra Nevada), but the real sweetness comes via a 16-strong cocktail list with highlights like the gin/honey/blackberries/pomegranate "Dark Scent", the bourbon/cinnamon/vermouth/whiskey barrel bitters "Bark Over Bite", and the gin/lime/ginger beer "Fall of English", and here you thought that was represented by Southern rap music. Sustenance comes via "Dirty Entrees" like a pork chop w/ Dijon mustard cream (served with baby Yukon garlic mash/grilled asparagus), a grilled rosemary chicken with roma-avocados in a roasted red pepper-olive sauce, and the Pistachio-Panko Encrusted Sea Bass -- just be forewarned that any slapping may attract sharks. Thrillist - Sushi Rock - Washington, DC
The pan-Asian spot's relaunching their whole menu, with completely traditional dishes like the Ziggy Stardust (Wagyu beef w/ grilled asparagus/ garlic jam/ jalapeño aioli), the Aqua Lung (soft shell crab w/ masago/ habañero/ eel bbq sauce), and an "aesthetically pleasing vertical presentation" in the Ahi Tower. They're also rolling out nine new cocktails, like the vodka, ginger & lychee Mary Jane's Last Dance -- prepare to be quite tokin' with it. Thrillist - Tapas Lounge - DC
Meats range from "Peruvian classic" lomo saltado (steak w/ onions & tomatoes) to pan-seared lamb chop in a rosemary demi-glaze, while seafood includes fresh PEI mussels in a light cream chipotle sauce, and their version of coconut shrimp, which's served in a pot and called camarones "al coco", meaning you'll definitely want to sink your teeth into its enormous tail. Speaking of 'tails, there's also a new Summer drink menu with group-oriented sangria (classic, raspberry, or passion fruit), a bevy of flavored mojitos (guava, mango, and watermelon) that comes with a sugar cane stirrer each, and the Crown Royal Black, amaretto & crane "Black Snapper", also something you can find curiously few of in the NFL. Thrillist - Butter Beer - Washington, DC
Pulled from the world of everyone's favorite wizard even though he'd get completely pwned by Merlin, this nod of a nip consists of black rum, housemade butter syrup, butterscotch pudding, and a Port City brew called Optimal Wit, despite it never being used to thwart some evil giant's plans to imprison a mage, or something.
