Interesting Underground Gold Mine Stuffed With Quartz

27:30
This gold mine is one of those abandoned mines that didn’t look like much at first, but ended up being really interesting… Aside from the complexity of the underground workings we explored, we just kept finding stuff. Well, more accurately, I should say that my exploring buddy kept finding stuff. While I was inside the first adit looking around, Mr. McBride, discovered the lower adit and the buildings above the mine workings. Unfortunately, I don’t know anything about the history of this mine. As with many things, California is behind other states in digitizing the records in their archives. By contrast, Nevada is fantastic in this respect. The Nevada Bureau of Mines and Geology and the University of Nevada in Reno have done a really impressive job of digitizing and organizing their records online. So, for example, if you have the name of a mine, you can look through their database and find extensive records and maps for the mine you’re curious about. Obviously, not every historic mine is included in their database, but most are. Even without knowing the history though, it is apparent that this mine is an older mine that was worked off and on for quite a while. It also doesn’t seem to be a big stretch to assume that a respectable amount of gold was extracted. I’m basing that on the size of the workings and how the miners burrowed off in all directions from that quartz core where the pit was. They even went down and ran another adit in... Actually, as I was typing that, I realized that it may have been the other way around. If you’ll recall, the track in the lower adit was the “budget rail” where the miners nailed the metal strips onto boards to run the ore carts over. Since the track in the first adit I entered was solid metal rail, it would suggest the possibility that the miners may have done well enough in the lower adit to afford to splash out on expensive rail when driving a second adit above. In other words, the lower adit may have been the first adit. The mine buildings just above the underground workings were interesting to us given their age. The main building looked just large enough to accommodate a crew of approximately the size of the number of names on the board where the miners would badge in and badge out. It’s possible a mining crew could have worked this operation in the winter, but given its remote location, fairly poor dirt roads and heavy snowfall in the winter, it seems more likely this was a summer mining operation. Was that a grave at the end? What do you guys think that was? ***** All of these videos are uploaded in HD, so adjust those settings to ramp up the quality! It really does make a difference. You can see the gear that I use for mine exploring here: https://bit.ly/2wqcBDD You can click here for my full playlist of abandoned mines: https://goo.gl/TEKq9L Thanks for watching! ***** Growing up in California’s “Gold Rush Country” made it easy to take all of the history around us for granted. However, abandoned mine sites have a lot working against them – nature, vandals, scrappers and various government agencies… The old prospectors and miners that used to roam our lonely mountains and toil away deep underground are disappearing quickly as well. These losses finally caught our attention and we felt compelled to make an effort to document as many of the ghost towns and abandoned mines that we could before that colorful niche of our history is gone forever. But, you know what? We enjoy doing it! This is exploring history firsthand – bushwhacking down steep canyons and over rough mountains, figuring out the techniques the miners used and the equipment they worked with, seeing the innovations they came up with, discovering lost mines that no one has been in for a century, wandering through ghost towns where the only sound is the wind... These journeys allow a feeling of connection to a time when the world was a very different place. And I’d love to think that in some small way we are paying tribute to those hardy miners that worked these mines before we were even born. So, yes, in short, we are adit addicts… I hope you’ll join us on these adventures! #ExploringAbandonedMines #MineExploring #AbandonedMines #UndergroundMineExploring

Looking for white quartz under snow (Winter gold prospecting)

15:31
Cure for cabin fever. Gold prospecting in the winter. Dayna and I went out to look at a new Hardrock gold claim I just picked up, right on the side of a highway so access was easy even in the winter. We checked out where the "Minfile" (old prospecting reports) said to look and grabs some quartz samples. But after some closer inspections of all the old prospecting files we found a good map that showed us we were digging on the wrong side of the highway. But at least we got out and had some fun and got a good look at the mineral claim. Fine Gold Recovery Process for Quartz Ore, using Hammer Mill and Concentrator

06:26
Here's a video demonstrating my process for recovering fine gold from quartz ore which I hiked out from the mountains. This sample was taken out of the north cascades. I crushed it before the video to about a 1" minus size, before milling in the hammer mill, and concentrating. In the next video I'll run the tailings of this process through an industrial grade shaker table to see what gravity recoverably gold this system wasn't quite able to capture. Most of the gold in this ore is really fine, from 100-400 mesh size.

Our Hard Rock Gold Mine | Initial Testing

14:16
First couple of days at our new hard rock gold mine in Oregon. Initial drilling, gathering ore and a little processing of it back at the storage facility until our trailor is completed to process on site. Seems we got better results by just drilling small holes in the wall then panning rather than running full buckets from large amounts of ore we got off the walls. To be continued....

Kenya Miners Part 1: Mining underground by hand for gold bearing quartz viens

05:19
This is our first video in our five part series of our trip to Kenya to install a shaker table to help eliminate the use of mercury by the smalls scale gold miners. We met with Julius who is the president of the MICA gold mining cooperative and donated a shaker table to MICA to show the miners a different technology for gold concentration other than the use of mercury. Once the shaker table was set up the miners were amazed! The shaker table on average recovered 2-3 times more gold from the same material they had been processing with their blanket/burlap sluices and mercury use. The table can also process the material up to 10 times faster than the blanket/burlap sluices. The result being in some cases 30 times more gold for the miners in the same amount of processing time. Stay tuned for more videos of our trip to Kenya. Free Gold, Platinum & Palladium In Oxidized Quartz Veins

03:48
This outcrop/showings contain free gold as well as some minor amounts of sulphides containing platinum and Palladium. We removed three samples for assays. The area is heavily Mineralized and consists of breccia, shales, quartz, calcite, clay, sand all in an outcrop 60 meters wide. There is mineralization in the form of oxides and sulphides which contains varying grades of free gold, minor amounts of silver and decent platinum, palladium, and other minor amounts of metals. Showings number one, two and three are new discoveries and have been tested via ICP method for pt and pd and a fire assay for Au. A lot more exploration is needed to determine the tonnage avaliable. This area is in the same zone as another outcrop which contains good free gold. Assays and testing were done on all three showings and the results are at the end of the video! Gold and Quartz Crystals! (high banker with Gold Owl mats)

17:09
Finding gold in a Quartz quarry. Took a sort little trip to my McGilvary Quartz claim to run some of the quartz crush through my high banker with its new Gold Owl mats. I was seeing if the massive quartz vein had any gold in it. It was a bit of an experiment just to see what was there. Found some nice small quartz crystals and some gold. For Gold owl Mats check out Goldstream Placer supplies in Grand Prairie. Complete gold recovery processing line for gold ore

We had a customer send us some very high grade gold quartz ore which we recovered 1.310 troy ounces from only 300 lbs! We ran the quartz through our 1/2-1 ton per hour complete turnkey processor comprised of out jaw crusher, hammer mill, and shaker table modules. The system did a good job of crushing and pulverizing the ore, but the shaker table did a remarkable job of recovering lots of gold that was smaller than 325 mesh. 7788.17 grams Massive gold and quartz specimen - Part 9

03:49
March 15/16 - In this video I remove some of the loose quartz with a rock hammer and other tools. It started off as 7788.17 grams of gold, quartz, arsenopyrite, chalcopyrite and other. This video series is to show the preparing of a gold specimen to make it more valuable than the gold content, this will turn out to be a museum quality specimen rather than crushing it and melting the gold. The chemicals and techniques used in the preparation of this specimen are DANGEROUS and can cause death. This video is for educational purposes and hopefully entertaining as well. The Secret World Of Gold | Gold Mining - Geographic History

42:41
The Secret World Of Gold | Gold Mining - Geographic History. It is impossible to know the exact date that humans first began to mine gold, but some of the oldest known gold artifacts were found in the Varna Necropolis in Bulgaria. The graves of the necropolis were built between 4700 and 4200 BC, indicating that gold mining could be at least 7000 years old. A group of German and Georgian archaeologists claims the Sakdrisi site in southern Georgia, dating to the 3rd or 4th millennium BC, may be the world's oldest known gold mine. Example Gold Ore

00:41
Many people who may have difficulty to identify the gold in the rock, because gold is usually often confused with the kind of carrier minerals pyrite , chalcopyrite, pyrhotite, pentlandit and gold-colored mica, because the mineral carrier is very similar to a vein of gold ore. consequence of the existence of native gold movements in the earth's heat or thermal. Where the size of microcrystalline gold ore minerals are below 150 microns to 0.8 microns and fatherly look of metal ore we need a tool microscope. Microcrystalline gold deposits are generally found in the primary. Gold grains are disseminated in a gangue of quartz and intergrown or locked in sulfide minerals. Coarse grains can be liberated by crushing and grinding followed by gravity concentration using a concentrator. If the ore consists of very fine grains extraction with a mixture of sodium cyanide to extract metal ore fatherly. Submicro crystalline gold particles and typically occur in the crystal lattice of certain sulfide ores. Gold contained in sulfide minerals present as small grains and particles in the crystal lattice of minerals. Many primary deposit consists of grains and disseminated in pyrite, chalcopyite, arsenopyrite or pyrrhotite containing large amounts of gold and intergrown with gangue minerals. Sulfide minerals can not be concentrated by gravity methods because the gravity is very low for gold sulfide. Froth flotation is the most common technique used to process the content of ore minerals in these rocks, followed by using sodium cyanide to remove gold. Mining techniques such methods are expensive and can only be used on large deposits, but has a low value to support the Processing Activities Visit Our Blog : http://miningeducation.blogspot.com/

05:38
A sample of the documentary being played at the Villa Rica Gold Museum outside West Atlanta. The film features evidence of Villa Rica being Georgia's earliest gold discovery, sparking the first and often overlooked- gold rush in American history. These Georgia gold mining techniques and skills provided the foundation and expertise for the 49'ers years later in California. Produced by MidSouth Visual, Inc., a Nashville video production agency.

7788.17 grams Massive gold and quartz specimen - Part 14

04:54
March 28/16 - In this video I splice together 3 smaller videos of the specimen in 35% hydrogen peroxide. It starts off as small reaction leading up to a BIG boil over in the video that follows. PLEASE DO NOT attempt any of these techniques or procedures without proper safety equipment and training My Website http://www.goldbay.com The Facebook group (Motherlodegold) https://www.facebook.com/groups/560798687430459/ I hope you enjoy this video and please watch for many more videos as I etch, prepare and expose more of the gold from the rock to bring out the majestic beauty of gold in quartz :-) Mlgdave

Finding Big Quartz At The Little Sister Mine

19:56
One encounters many unexpected things when exploring abandoned mines. In that category of unexpected things, the weather can sometimes feature quite prominently. As such, you’ll see in this video that even though we are exploring at the height of summer, we find ourselves caught in a blizzard and then hail and then rain. And, yes, that was indeed as unpleasant as it sounds. So, regrettably, we did not explore the forest around this gold mine as extensively as we normally would at an abandoned mine site. I did hike up the mountain a short distance from the adit near the workshop (the first adit we saw that was collapsed) and discovered another adit that was eroded shut, but had enormous rails coming out of it. I would place the size of the of the waste rock pile at that upper adit in the smaller to medium category… Across the creek, I am fairly certain that I caught a glimpse of some equipment or boards higher up the mountain when we were walking around down below the main adit we explored. However, given that we were soaking wet and miserably cold, we were not particularly keen on trying to slip and struggle our way up a steep, muddy mountainside. Additionally, given the collapsed state of the adits and levels of this mine that we did visit, I did not have a high degree of confidence in finding any additional smaller, upper levels to be in better condition. As such, a portion of this abandoned mine remains unexplored... Additionally, the largest locked building contains a ball mill and, undoubtedly, other equipment as well. There was also a large trailer home above the workshop that apparently served as a bunkhouse and a building right along the creek that was perhaps one hundred feet upstream from the bridge. This building had wooden stairs leading down to it and was completely clad in corrugated metal. It seemed that the creek had pulled off some of the metal, but the building was still locked up tight. I am disappointed that we weren’t able to see inside any of these buildings, but we are not going to break into anything even at a mine that has been abandoned. From the research I did on this mine, it appears that the prominent quartz ledge seen inside of the mine was discovered in the early 1860s. The mine has been worked off and on since that time with peaks in activity (according to the paperwork I could locate) taking place in the 1920s, 1950s and 1960s. Official records indicated gold production at tens of thousands of ounces. ***** All of these videos are uploaded in HD, so adjust those settings to ramp up the quality! However, abandoned mine sites have a lot working against them – nature, vandals, scrappers and various government agencies… The old prospectors and miners that used to roam our lonely mountains and toil away deep underground are disappearing quickly as well. These losses finally caught our attention and we felt compelled to make an effort to document as many of the ghost towns and abandoned mines that we could before that niche of our history is gone forever. But, guess what? We have fun doing it! This is exploring history firsthand – bushwhacking down steep canyons and over rough mountains, figuring out the techniques the miners used and the equipment they worked with, seeing the innovations they came up with, discovering lost mines that no one has been in for a hundred years, wandering through ghost towns where the only sound is the wind...

Rocks to Gold Part 1: Prospecting/blasting gold bearing quartz veins

06:28
Earlier this summer I purchased a microblaster system to do some prospecting and high grading of some gold bearing quartz viens. I really liked the mircoblaster so I wanted to pass on some info about it and show how it worked in a prospecting application. This is part 1 of our series "From Rocks to Gold". There will be a link at the end of this video to part two when available. Thanks for watching!

Gold panning technique to clean cons quickly and easily.

14:25
My gold panning technique uses the Backwash and Tap method as well as some simple panning. Combining the three gold clean up techniques I'm able to clean my gold quickly and without any losses. This video is part of a series of lessons on how to clean gold from black sand concentrates using just simple gold panning techniques. I teach three techniques of cleaning your gold, #1 Simple gold panning, #2 the Tap method, and #3 the Backwash. Learning the correct gold panning techniques will help prevent losses when recovering your gold from your concentrates. Recovering fine gold from heavy black sands can be a challenge. Follow these gold panning tips and you can recover your gold with almost no losses. Stay tuned for the fifth video in this series where I show how to pan for gold and use the "Backwash & Tap" method to separate gold from a hard rock crush concentrates. This video is produced by Dan Hurd, Prospector, Miner, Teacher and YouTuber, as part of his YouTube channel based on educational videos about gold mining, gold panning, prospecting, rock hounding, and mineral collecting. https://www.patreon.com/Danhurd

An Unusual Gold Mine In Nevada

23:44
In this video, I endeavor to spare you, my dear viewers, from having to make the long drive to the middle of nowhere in Nevada (along with the associated costs for fuel and damage to your vehicle on the rough road in). In addition, you are able to avoid the relatively long, hot hike up to this abandoned mine. And, of course, you are also spared from needing to spend any time underground in this sketchy abandoned mine as well. Now don’t get me wrong, we (usually) enjoy this sort of thing, but most probably would not… The mineral potential of this area was first recognized in the mid-1800s and a town and mill sprang up around the areas in the canyon that looked most promising very shortly thereafter. However, no one appears to have gotten rich here and (as with countless mining towns) everything slowly faded away, interspersed with only brief flurries of activity when new discoveries or economic conditions temporarily brought miners out into the hills again. There are surprisingly few records available on this specific mine. Although it is mentioned that work took place here in the 1930s, the only years that we could find production data for were for two years in the 1940s. This was primarily a gold mine, but some silver was extracted here as well. The official production figures were not terribly inspiring, but it seems that contemporary mining companies still poke around this site from time to time – even in those small, fractured stopes underground as could be seen from the surveyor’s flags... Although samples have been taken, to my knowledge, no modern exploratory work has been conducted.
