Canada's untouched wilderness is now open to mining
The Peel Watershed, a vast territory bordering the Arctic Circle in Canada’s Yukon province, has been called one of the last remaining untouched wilderness areas in the world. It’s the size of Ireland and the provincial government wants to open up large portions of the 26,000 square mile territory to mining. Gold mining in the Yukon: Gold panning, sluicing, and more.
Take a short trip with me to Dawson City, Canada. Have a look at how the "average, not for TV" miner gets gold. No staged arguments, breakdowns, or deadlines. No scripted drama, or ridiculous million ounce goals. Just average miners trying to make a few bucks and have a little fun doing it. The mining season lasts from May to the first of October, or as soon as the water freezes. Thanks for watching. This is a copy of a previously uploaded video. I was forced to re upload this video due to technical reasons, sorry for any inconvenience.

CEO Clips: Jeff Swinoga | First Mining Gold | Large Gold Resource in Canada
Jeff Swinoga, President & CEO of First Mining Gold Corp. talks about the company’s hopes of becoming a large gold producer in Canada. First Mining Gold has a very large gold resource and it’s well diversified. We’ve got four great properties in Ontario, a few in Quebec and one very promising one in Newfoundland. Overall, we’ve got seven million ounces of M&I indicated gold resources and we also have another five million ounces of Inferred. The Springpole Gold Project it’s one of the largest undeveloped gold projects in Canada. It’s almost 5 million ounces of gold. It’s actually in a small bay of a large lake in Northern Ontario. We’ve come up with new video showing how we’re going to develop it and where it is. What stage we are at now is that we’re actually going to an environmental process. We’re hoping to do a pre-feasibility study next year, we have a PA (a preliminary economic assessment) that showed very good results so, it’s very attractive. The Goldlund property looks very exciting, it’s got a 50 kilometer strike and what we’ve been doing is drilling the book two or three kilometres of it. So just with that small area we’ve got about 600 thousand ounces of indicated and 1.8 million of inferred. So, what we’re doing now is we’re stepping out ten kilometres away, if we see the same mineralization along that trend, then it’s going to be exciting. The vision for First Mining Gold is to become a large gold producer in Canada. Hopefully we’ll get in production in five years in Springpole, which is our largest asset, almost five million ounces. So, we have the opportunity to build a large gold company in Canada and I want to be a part of that. I want to drive that process.” – Jeff Swinoga, President & CEO of First Mining Gold First Mining Gold Corp. is an emerging development company with a diversified portfolio of gold projects in North America. Having assembled a large resource base of 7 million ounces of gold in the Measured and Indicated categories and 5 million ounces of gold in the Inferred category in mining friendly jurisdictions of eastern Canada, First Mining is now focused on advancing its assets towards production. The Company currently holds a portfolio of 25 mineral assets in Canada, Mexico and the United States. Rivers where you can still find gold
There's still gold in these hills The gold rushes of the 19th century have long since ended, but there are still plenty of places you can hunt for the precious metal using a shovel, pan, metal detector and more. In fact, recreational gold mining is a pastime these days for many people, and for good reason: the largest nugget ever found in California was discovered by an amateur. Here are some key locations worldwide that you can still prospect for the yellow metal – you never know, you may get lucky and strike it rich. Freezing 200,000 Tons of Lethal Arsenic Dust
Giant Mine sits near Yellowknife, in the Northwest Territories of Canada. Once it was a productive gold mine, but after the gold ran out, the mining company went bankrupt and left the government to clean up the mess: enough arsenic trioxide dust to kill everyone on Earth. The solution: freezing it, at least for now. Thanks to all the team at the Giant Mine Remediation Project! Bralorne Gold Mining Ghost Town British Columbia Canada 1972

William Allen prospected the area in 1897, and his claim took the name from his hotel—the Pioneer—in Lillooet. A small mill was imported from California, and later Welshman John Williams, who had worked the California goldfields, built an arrastra or Mexican rock mill, which became a symbol of the Bridge River mines and remained in service into the heavy-production years of the mines. Again in 1897, three men hiked in from Lillooet to Cadwallader Creek looking for gold. They made three claims—the Lorne, Marquis, and the Golden King. These would form the core of the complex of claims which became the Bralorne Mine. Arthur Noel bought the claims and worked them sporadically, holding on in bad times, waiting for the good.. He installed a 12 stamp mill. Unfortunately, the mine became tied up in litigation and stood idle for a dozen years.. By 1914 Pioneer Gold Mines was set up with more industrial equipment, boilers and modern rock mill. The site worked through the 1920s and the profitable King vein exploited. But it was the collapse of world markets and the solid price of gold in the Depression, when the mines really took off; when men and investment ramped up production. The district was one of the few bright lights in the BC economy during the Depression - in a seven-year period in the 1930s, the mines of the Bridge River produced $370,000,000 in gold. Taylor installed a 100 ton a day capacity mill but under the direction of M. O'Brian, output increased fivefold. As said, Bralorne came into its own in the Great Depression years. In 1931 Austin C. Taylor and associates acquired Bralorne property and financed construction of a 100 ton mill. The Bralorne Mine operated from March 1932 until 1971. In that time 3 million ounces of gold were refined from its adits. From this wealth, came a complete town, with schools, churches, post office, houses, recreation halls and hunting lodges. The mines themselves needed support buildings of power houses, boiler houses, blacksmith shops, machine shops, concentrator buildings and so on. Over one hundred miles of underground tunnels were dug in the forty or so years of operation. As Bralorne sits on a volcanic fault, the shafts were quite warm inside: 40 degrees C was not unknown. Gold Nuggets In Every Pan! Ultimate Placer Deposit!
Another gold mining adventure! Ten pans all will good sized gold nuggets, picker and flakes! Good chunky placer gold is found in the creek and banks up to 3 meters out of the creek. The creek is in a canyon which is a 400 meter long hike and 200 meters in elevation hike. The area has minimal workings however there are several showings on the other side of the mountain which we have claims on. Could they be associated?? We are hoping to find the source maybe a huge gold quartz vein?? We believe the source of the gold is very close as most if the gold is in nugget form. Chunky gold can be seen in most pans along with black sand (magnetite and hematite). In the video we do ten pans only in this area. We will be exploring this area further and hope to eventually find a bedrock exposure or vein which is producing the gold. Hope everyone enjoys the video and stay tuned for more! Baker Lake, Nunavut, Canada Tour - Mark Erney Trip To Gold Mining Camp Satellite Dish
Best pictures from a trip to a remote arctic gold mining camp near Baker Lake, Nunavut, Canada in a 5 minute video slideshow presentation. Photographed by satellite dish technician Mark Erney while providing technical support to the mine camp in May 2010. Starts with a couple of photos showing the road leaving the arctic mining camp and driving to Baker Lake. Then shows some beautiful pictures from a short walk around town. Ends with images of the drive back to the mining camp where we saw carabou herds near the road. I really fell in love with the arctic on my trips there. The Inuit natives and everybody else I met there were so nice and friendly. I hope to go there as often as possible. Anybody in the arctic who needs a satellite earth station technician or vsat dish specialist, please contact me. I'm willing and ready to go on short notice, and I carry the proper gear. Hope you enjoy the photos. My favorite of "all" of them is the arctic bunny that just sat there and posed for me. It's weird, but I feel that animals can sense I mean them no harm. I love animals and love seeing wildlife free in their natural inviroment. Narrative captions by Mark Erney. Music by Kevin Macleod. The Hemlo Gold Story
A CBC Documentary Prospectors John Larch, Don McKinnon and Richard Hughes discovered gold in the Hemlo camp in the early 1980s, starting a staking rush not seen in Canada since the Klondike gold rush of the late 19th century. Two companies, Golden Sceptre and Goliath Resources, secured rights to a large land package in the area, and were subsequently acquired by Noranda. Noranda permitted and built the Golden Giant mine in less than two years. With its first pour in April, 1985, the Golden Giant was the first mine in the camp to ship. Peak production occurred in the early 1990s, approaching 500,000 oz per year. During its 21-year life, the mine produced over 6 million ounces of gold. (from Wikipedia)

Nevsun in Eritrea : Dealing With a Dictator - the fifth estate
When a small Vancouver mining company Nevsun struck gold in a remote corner of Africa, it started with so much promise. In remote Eritrea, Nevsun built a mine that was generating $700 million in profits in its first four years of operation. But it was also generating a lot of controversy – because Nevsun was partnered with a brutal dictatorship that runs the country and controls 40% of the mine. That has led to allegations by the UN and Human Rights Watch that the regime has used conscripted military labour in the mine. The Eritrea government has also been accused of funneling arms to the terrorist group al-Shabaab. Nevsun denies the allegations of human rights abuses and insists it is a “template for responsible international business.” What is the price of doing business with a dictator? The current mine is still producing gold, but we need to find a new pay streak. After I do some prospecting, I have Krazy Joe run the Dozer - and we move one of the wash plants. The new conveyor belts have arrived - and its time to have the entire plant work as one lean, mean, Gold-producing Machine! Are we going to find Gold?! Of Course! The true secret of this show - is nothing you see is "real". Everything is generally staged (well as much as we can plan when playing!), and though we are mining for real gold (yes it's real pay dirt), the true Gold is the experience we get as friends, what we hope the viewers get watching a couple of goofballs entertain you with some very cool toys. One mans hobby, is another's entertainment on YouTube! Now all I have to do is to continue learning how to sluice for Gold. We are all rookies, we have never mined before.. yet, I have always had a passion for Radio Control, and for finding Gold! "YouTube GOLD" is a #Parody series based around the GOLD Shows of TV that we all know and love. #GoldRush #YukonGold #BeringSeaGold all of these are shows that my family enjoy seeing! A lot of viewers ask me questions about the products I use in my videos, and I have learned to pass along this info in my video descriptions. I hope it helps if you are curious about my HD Equipment. I ordered all of my Heavy Duty Construction equipment distributed by a company called "RC4WD". Here is a link: https://store.rc4wd.com/Heavy-Machinery_c_154.html I am using the older style of excavator, the 870K wheel loader, the DXR2 Dozer, and the 797F Haul Truck. These machines are very impressive.. and VERY HEAVY! All metal, all around... True hydraulic systems that have ample power for your Radio control modelling needs. I have always known that making a GOLD MINE would be possible with RC models.. and finally I get to realize this dream - even if the scale is all 1/14th in size!
