Our mining claim neighbors called the Cops! People living on the other side of the river where our mining claim is and not liking our mining, called the cops. It appears our neighbors just did not want their liberal utopia disturbed so they call the cops to harass us. The police were very cool as I knew one of them from checking our permits on another river couple months earlier and an Oregon DEQ meeting he showed up at. The rude lady yells to at from other side of river "you need a permit to do that"...we had them of course. She also told cops we were disrespecful and rude to her...which was totally false. She made up her own narrative about what was happening to justify her being annoyed. Liberal tactic # 3, change the narrative or just plain lie! This is the short version of the video, filmed on the Applegate River in Oregon while we were LEGALLY GOLD MINING! In the video, it is a continuous video, shot on my GoPro camera that I was wearing on my head. The video shows me mining and moving around with no editing to show what actually goes on while mining. Then my buddy is helping me move rocks while I'm using a sub-surface dredge...then the cops show up , and I tell him is where the action starts. UPDATE Jan 1st, 2015: In response to some of the comments saying we are uneducated, rednecks and other stuff...the guys in the video are as follows. One is a millionaire CPA, another a self employed business owner, two others are also self employed and owns a body shop and the other an internet marketer and freelance videographer, and lastly one is the son of the CPA guy and currently in college. Oregon Mining Law: Next time this happens, I will ask the State Police to cite the offending people who disrupt our mining operation based on this Oregon Mining Law: "ORS 517.133 Interfering with a mining operation. (1) As used in this section, "lawful mining operation" means any small scale mining operation that is in full compliance with state and federal laws. (2) A person commits the crime of interfering with a mining operation if the person intentionally: (a) Interferes with a lawful mining operation; or (b) Stops, or causes to be stopped, a lawful mining operation. (3) Interfering with a mining operation is a Class C misdemeanor. [1999 c.354 §6]" Here is the GoPro camera I was using: http://amzn.to/19yYus6

We recently stumbled upon this secret, hidden, abandoned mine and mining camp high up in the mountains. We explored one mine tunnel as well as the surface structures. A shed onsite contained an old vintage Silvertone radio/record player from 1940, a winch, a newspaper from 1957, and other artifacts. Inside the mine, we found more artifacts used by the miners, and we demonstrate in the video how those artifacts were used by the miners long ago.

The woods are running along the Amazon due to illegal trafficking. This episode of the series examines the clandestine exploitation of certain resources of the Amazon. Along with the problems arising from the spoliation timber know fishing and illegal sale of Pirarucú, freshwater fish's largest planet, endangered today. Seems that conquering spirit is still alive and there are many who believe that the forest is a place to get rich. In this chapter we will visit famous as Serra Pelada gold deposits and discover the impact that caused this reef, and exhausted today, but whose mines killed hundreds of prospectors, gold prospectors.

Find out how to find and finance a property with no permit requirements and very low taxes in Ontario, Canada. http://myselfreliance.com/no-permit-required-where-to-build-your-tiny-home/ I found my solution in the form of an unorganized township in Ontario, Canada. Here, I am unencumbered by government oversight. With no building permit requirement and very low annual property taxes, I am free to build what I want, where I want and when I want. Without oversight, I am free to build another log cabin. This one is 10 feet by 20 feet - 200 square feet plus a 70 square foot covered porch and a back deck overlooking the stream, which will eventually be screened in. How to find a property in an unorganized township 1. Search Realtor.ca in the area that you are interested in. 2. Contact real estate agents in desired locations and asked for a list of unorganized townships in the area. 3. Ask realtor for a list of properties for sale in an unorganized townships. Include already developed properties - sometimes the building is not suitable for habitation but beneficial infrastructure is in place, such as driveway, well and septic. 4. Visit http://www.gisapplication.lrc.gov.on.ca/CLUPA/Index.html?site=CLUPA&viewer=CLUPA&locale=en-US (Crown Land Use Policy Atlas) to see what public lands are located near your property. Ideally, a large park of public land should be within walking distance. 5. Spend time on Google Earth to get an idea of what surrounds the property - lakes and rivers, landfill sites, other developments, mines, quarries, etc.

http://BcGHOSTtowns.com This is not "The City of Paris Ghost Town" It is in fact the #7 mine site and is one of nicest little abandoned mine camps found in it's normal state of decay... Here is the MINEFILE info for the #7 The No. 7 mine is on the claim of the same name (Lot 623), on a ridge crest at the elevation of 1370 metres, 3.3 kilometres east of the confluence of McCarren and Gidon creeks, 7.5 kilometres southeast of Greenwood. Access to the property is 2.4 kilometres travelling southerly and up hill by winding dirt road from the McCarren Creek road. The Lexington (082ESE041) and City of Paris (082ESE042) lie 2.5 kilometres to the southeast. The intermittent operations of the No. 7 mine from 1901 to 1945 produced a total of 13,748 tonnes of ore yielding 92.4 kilograms of gold, 3110 kilograms of silver, 97 tonnes of lead, and 6.2 tonnes of zinc. The potential of No. 7 was recognized early in the Greenwood camp and the claim was Crown granted in 1895 to J. Schofield. By 1897, a 40-metre deep inclined shaft was developed on the claim to service 60 metres of underground drifting. At the approximate time of final closing of the mine 50 years later, in 1945, the mine workings comprised a 100-metre inclined shaft, adit levels at 12 and 90 metres, and intermediate levels at 30 and 55 metres. Old mine maps show that the underground work on these four levels totals about 1580 metres. The 90-metre adit level is open from portal to face, a distance of about 580 metres, but the other levels are partly caved southeast of the inclined shaft. Other workings include an adit drift 40 metres northwest of the 12-metre No. 1 adit, a large number of surface pits, and a deep trench along the vein from which some underhand stoping was done. The mine is developed on a quartz vein on a major southeasterly trending boundary fault between Upper Paleozoic Knob Hill Group on the northeast and Attwood Group on the southwest. Contained in part within the fault zone, and hosting this vein, are a schistose quartz feldspar intrusion and serpentinite. A variety of young Tertiary dikes have invaded, and are superimposed on, the vein structure. The quartz vein at the mine site has been traced for a strike length of more than 300 metres. The vein ranges from 10 centimetres to 1.5 metres wide and dips 40 to 65 degrees northeast, having dike rocks or chloritic schists of the Knob Hill Group on the hanging wall and highly sheared talc-carbonate rocks of the serpentinite body on the footwall. Mineralization consists of pyrite, sphalerite and some galena dispersed in blue-grey quartz along the central portion of the vein. The most productive part of the vein was southeast of the inclined shaft above the 55-metre level. A large number of northeasterly striking faults displace the vein. Displacements along these faults range from a few feet to almost 60 metres. The maximum displacement was measured on the fault exposed in the southeast end of the 90-metre level and on the surface 60 metres southeast of the long open cut. The vein has not been located beyond this fault. Movement along these faults has been largely post mineral. Evidence of some pre-mineral movement is furnished by unbroken vein quartz seams and lenses, up to 20 centimetres by 3 metres, in the fault zone exposed at the southeast end of the 90-metre level. Subsidiary faults of small displacement are part of this same fault zone, and offset both vein and the post mineral quartz trachyte dike. Thus this single fault zone has been the locus of both pre- and post-mineral movements. The No. 7 fault zone is an ancient structure believed to be a possible continuation of the Chesaw thrust in Washington state. The serpentinite is part of a disrupted Paleozoic ophiolite complex. Because of the ductile nature of these rocks, the belt has become a tectonically active zone and the locus of much shearing, thrusting, igneous intrusion and vein mineralization. The common Mg-Fe carbonate (listwanite) alteration and serpentinization are believed to be related to major thrusting of the ophiolitic rocks during the Jurassic. In the early Tertiary these thrusts were re-activated by a tectonic compression directed subparallel to the developing northerly elongated graben structures. Igneous activity at the same time is believed to be related to numerous vein deposits. No ore reserve estimate is available for this property. Cool stuff! I would like to take some pictures of the old cabins. Thanks for sharing! Well, we certainly don’t come across something like this every day when we’re out exploring… Just like the abandoned steam engine we featured in another video, this is one of those incredible once in a lifetime finds. There are precious few of these wooden ore carts left in existence and even fewer that can still be found at an abandoned mine rather than rotting away in someone’s backyard. Fortunately, this mine is not marked on any topographic maps and it is in a very remote area of the desert. I believe this is what has protected it from the vermin that ransack these sites to sell the historical artifacts on eBay. Were it not for these circumstances, the wooden ore cart would have undoubtedly disappeared a long time ago. We have found bits and pieces of the metal frames of wooden ore carts in and around some of the old (1800s) mines in California’s “Mother Lode” region. So, obviously, they were used there. However, the wood has long since rotted away and whatever was left of the abandoned carts has disintegrated with time and exposure to the elements. If you consider it, wooden ore carts actually made a lot of sense for the miners in the past that were venturing out over steep mountains and down deep canyons, often over little more than primitive trails. Rather than needing to use a team of mules to haul a backbreakingly heavy metal ore cart up a sheer cliff to a mine, the miners could have hauled out the relatively lightweight (except for the wheels) components and then assembled the carts from the plentiful trees growing around the mine. And, as was mentioned in the video, if something breaks, the miners could just cut another tree down and repair the cart. From the look of it, the wooden ore cart at this mine in the video may have likewise been constructed from the trees found around the mine. As for the mine itself, which was almost an afterthought for me after finding the wooden ore cart, it wasn’t a huge mine, but I thought it was an interesting little mine all the same, no? The flickering effect created by the LEDs on the video drove me nuts when I was editing it, but focusing on the features of the mine, I liked the way the mine twisted around until it reached that small raise and the winze. Given how clean this first section of the mine was, I can only conclude that that section is the one that was worked most recently and the area behind the skip car (where the rails for the ore carts disappeared) was driven during the early days of the mine and then abandoned. I don’t blame the miners for abandoning that section of the mine given how soft the material there was. ***** All of these videos are uploaded in HD, so adjust those settings to ramp up the quality! It really does make a difference… You can click here for the full playlist of abandoned mines: https://goo.gl/TEKq9L If you like these videos on exploring abandoned mines, please subscribe! https://goo.gl/yjPxH1 Thanks for watching! ***** Growing up in California’s “Gold Rush Country” made it easy to take all of the history around us for granted. However, abandoned mine sites have a lot working against them – nature, vandals, scrappers and various government agencies… The old prospectors and miners that used to roam our lonely mountains and toil away deep underground are disappearing quickly as well. These losses finally caught our attention and we felt compelled to make an effort to document as many of the ghost towns and abandoned mines that we could before that niche of our history is gone forever. But, guess what? We have fun doing it! This is exploring history firsthand – bushwhacking down steep canyons and over rough mountains, figuring out the techniques the miners used and the equipment they worked with, seeing the innovations they came up with, discovering lost mines that no one has been in for a hundred years, wandering through ghost towns where the only sound is the wind... These journeys allow a feeling of connection to a time when the world was a very different place. And I’d love to think that in some small way we are paying tribute to those hardy miners that worked these mines before we were even born. So, yes, in short, we are adit addicts… I hope you’ll join us on these adventures! #ExploringAbandonedMines #MineExploring #AbandonedMines #UndergroundMineExploring

Video I got from archives at State Historical Society in Rolla, MO. This video was shot in approximately 1950 by Harry Blunt, who was operator of The Plaza Theater, Potosi, MO. It was shot on film with the sound apparently recorded separately; however, the sound portion has been lost. Still, for anyone interested in the history of tiff mining, there is a lot of interesting information in this video. The video starts by showing men digging tiff (or barite) with pick and shovel, and shows all the steps of the process from digging, to cleaning, to delivery. Then if shows the lifestyle of some of the miners, a protest against the move to mechanized mining, and ends by showing how tiff was processed and used.

The road in is up a very narrow valley, and the road is in very poor shape. It's also in a very isolated location. This probably explains the lack of vandalism. The North Elephant has been historically documented as the first major producer in the Star District. It would go on to be the standard of measurement for all other mines in the area. Attributed to its success is the massive Gold and Silver deposits that make up the small mountainside it resides on. Inside is an internal Headframe documenting the loads pulled from the North Elephant's main shaft. This is an excellent mine for a small scale miner. The workings are extensive and there are lots of rich ores still inside the mine. You can drive up to the base of the tailings and then it's a short hike to the entrance of the mine. Website: https://www.goldrushexpeditions.com/ Mining Claims for Sale: https://www.goldrushexpeditions.com/store/mining-claims-for-sale/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/GoldRushExpedinc National Bureau of Mines: http://www.nationalbureauofmines.org/ Today on Gold Rush Media Jessica and Corey bring you The Krug Gold Mine. This mining claim, based out of Pershing Nevada, is a fantastic example of a small time operation with big time results. Miners followed the gold infused quartz vein all the way up the mountain making shallow cuts and high grading the ore as they went along. The biggest feature of this claim resides on the upper point of the mountain where a 220' drift has been cut and mucked. You wouldn't know it however because the previous miners hid it behind a "Danger Explosives" sign and a shelf that was placed in front of the entrance in hopes of deterring visitors. The site also boasts a fair amount of structures including an old blacksmith shop and accompanying miners house. There is still plenty of potential left in this old mine and is a great opportunity for today's small time miner.

(3 Jul 2017) LEADIN Illegal gold mining in Ivory Coast is still widespread in the country's north despite government efforts to control it. Local officials complain too many men and women are joining the continuing gold rush and leaving farms without enough labour. STORYLINE At an illegal mine in Tongon in the far north of Ivory Coast, around fifty kilometres from the border with Burkina Faso, miners have dug a 20 metre shaft into a layer of gold bearing rock. Rocks are hauled to the surface before being pounded into a powder. It's very a labour intensive and sometimes dangerous process. Illegal mining has been blamed for uncontrolled migration between countries in the region, unchecked pollution and for fuelling violence. Miners move around, following the latest gossip of where gold is to be found. Miner Hamed Ouedraogo has come from northern neighbour Burkina Faso: "Often when we are moving about we hear of new mines that have been started and that are people are going there, so we head there too." Although operating without permits, miners have machinery on hand to help them and receive a small salary from the illegal mine's owners, often businessmen working with the help of corrupt local officials. It is something authorities have been trying to stamp out as they encourage international investors into the sector. George Gueu Gombadji, the Prefect of Boundiali region says that it means that agriculture is also suffering as there are fewer men to work the land. "This (illegal gold mining) is causing a major loss off of the nation's riches. It has reached such a scale that the supply of agricultural labourers is drying up as they all go mining instead," he says. Illegal mining took off during the years prior to Ivory Coast's 2011 civil war, with rebels occupying much of the north. While the money doesn't flow into the state's coffers, run-off from the illegal mining pollutes water courses. Ouedraogo says the gold will be sold off wherever it can attract the highest prices: "In Burkina Faso the price is higher, a gramme (of gold) can go up to 30,000 West African francs (51 US dollars)." He says in Ivory Coast the going rate is 12,500 francs (21 US dollars) per gramme. Not far away are the offices of Randgold Resources, a NASDAQ and London stock exchange listed gold mining company. They operate legally, holding an official permit to mine in the area. They operate on an entirely different scale to the illegal miners - the Tongon mine, operated in partnership with the state, comprises two massive open cast mines. According to Randgold's own figures, last year they extracted 260,556 ounces of gold at this mine in Ivory Coast, that is over 7 metric tonnes, generating over 121 (m) million US dollars in profit. Bodiel N'diaye, the company's country director recently gathered journalists to explain why he is unhappy with the impact of the illegal mining. "These people come and set up in areas where they do not have the right to operate. Take our concessions for example, where we have a government licence (to mine). When we come to start working, we can't because these people are occupying the site illegally, they have no authorisation from the supervising ministry. They don't follow the laws," he says. Government efforts to crackdown on the illegal mining have done little to stop the practice. The illegal miners simply move on or across borders briefly before returning. Liar's Cove Resort, located just miles from U.S. Highway 97 is ideally situated to serve as your "base of operations" as you explore the many recreational opportunities in Conconully, and all of Okanogan County. There is a lot of old west history here. Explore historical frontier towns, and old mining camps. You can even pan for gold yourself! A short drive through the nearby hills may bring you to an abandoned mine or the "China Wall," the foundation for what was to have been an ore processing facility during the mining boom.
