Did we capture haunted sounds from the spirit world? Did we pick up some EVP's? I am not sure what the sounds are... You can judge for yourself. But it's definitely a very creepy mine tunnel to explore. We are not ghost adventures, and we are no paranormal investigators. We are just explorers who enjoy exploring abandoned places. We also enjoy exploring possible haunted abandoned places. Often called one of the most haunted places in the US, the Horton Mine is definitely a creepy place to explore. The entire mine looks like it could have been straight out of a horror movie. Exploring Abandoned Mines has explored this mine twice, and both times he claims to have experienced and filmed possible paranormal encounters with ghosts. Again, we are not ghost hunters or looking for paranormal activity, but we did think what we heard later was very interesting. The haunted Horton Mine is located in the state of Nevada, just outside of Austin Nevada. Let us know if you see or hear anything out of the ordinary. If there is enough interest, we may conduct a follow up visit and video. #Abandoned #Exploring #ExploreWithUs

Christopher Columbus: What Really Happened
Check out my new video about the First Thanksgiving on my new channel, "Uncivil History" here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ociHVDWxDaY&t=2s Subscribe for more videos: http://goo.gl/Z8E50 An educational animation which recounts the four voyages of Columbus. Hope you enjoy! Bibliography at bottom of description AUTHOR'S NOTE: This video is meant to give a non-bias account of the events which unfolded when Columbus and his crew made contact with the people of the Caribbean. Of course, I was not able to fit everything into the video; I had to omit details, such as the fact that the Taino were not the only people that Columbus encountered (there were also the Ciguayo tribe and Carib cannibals). A second particular is that not all fault should lie directly on Columbus' shoulders. His crew of 1,200 for the second journey consisted partly of convicts and landless nobles, the worst type of people with which to build a settlement. Another fact is that Columbus grew up in societies (Genoa, then Portugal) that kept domestic slaves. I have no political agenda for making this video. I am a student of history and I have tried to give an account of Columbus' journeys that is as close as we can possibly get to the truth. I will I admit that I am not a fan of Columbus. I think he was cruel, even for his time. We cannot judge a 15th-century human from a 21st-century perspective; but even for the 15th century, he was an awful arbiter. Sources: Bergreen, Laurence. Thomas Jefferson & His Democracy: Crash Course US History #10
In which John Green teaches you about founding father and third president of the United States, Thomas Jefferson. Jefferson is a somewhat controversial figure in American history, largely because he, like pretty much all humans, was a big bundle of contradictions. Jefferson was a slave-owner who couldn't decide if he liked slavery. He advocated for small government, but expanded federal power more than either of his presidential predecessor. He also idealized the independent farmer and demonized manufacturing, but put policies in place that would expand industrial production in the US. Controversy may ensue as we try to deviate a bit from the standard hagiography/slander story that usually told about old TJ. John explores Jefferson's election, his policies, and some of the new nation's (literally and figuratively) formative events that took place during Jefferson's presidency. In addition to all this, Napoleon drops in to sell Louisiana, John Marshall sets the course of the Supreme Court, and John Adams gets called a tiny tyrant. Hey teachers and students - Check out CommonLit's free collection of reading passages and curriculum resources to learn more about the events of this episode. Thomas Jefferson is remembered as the Founding Father responsible for saying all men are created equal in The Declaration of Independence: https://www.commonlit.org/texts/the-declaration-of-independence Jefferson didn't always practice what he preached though, as seen in his mixed views on American Indians: https://www.commonlit.org/texts/excerpts-from-thomas-jefferson-s-writings-on-american-indians Follow us! http://www.twitter.com/thecrashcourse http://www.twitter.com/realjohngreen http://www.twitter.com/crashcoursestan http://www.twitter.com/raoulmeyer http://www.twitter.com/thoughtbubbler http://www.twitter.com/saysdanica Like us! http://www.facebook.com/youtubecrashcourse Support CrashCourse on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/crashcourse

Protecting Cultural Resources
Protecting cultural heritage Arizona has a diverse cultural history, especially here in the Copper Triangle. Mining and ranching have been an integral part of this community for more than 100 years, and the area is home to many federally recognized tribes and to the places where they have historic and cultural ties. We’re working hard to better understand what matters to our all our neighbors and make sure we balance their interests with our own. Protecting Native American culture and sacred sites We’re required to comply with all laws related to Native American cultural and sacred sites, and the permitting process requires formal consultation between the US government and the governments of Native American tribes. These governments look at plans for the proposed mining operation and any impacts on cultural resources and agree on steps to avoid, minimize or mitigate them.

The French Revolution: Crash Course World History #29
In which John Green examines the French Revolution, and gets into how and why it differed from the American Revolution. Was it the serial authoritarian regimes? The guillotine? The Reign of Terror? All of this and more contributed to the French Revolution not being quite as revolutionary as it could have been. France endured multiple constitutions, the heads of heads of state literally rolled, and then they ended up with a megalomaniacal little emperor by the name of Napoleon. But how did all of this change the world, and how did it lead to other, more successful revolutions around the world? Watch this video and find out. 🇵🇰What’s next for Pashtuns in "the world’s most dangerous place”? l Al Jazeera English
Today, FATA is the most underdeveloped, poverty stricken, and unstable area of Pakistan. Until this year, the tribal Pashtuns did not have any political influence, access to media outlets or self-determination since they were under the British-era laws. That changed when they were integrated into Pakistan in May 2018, but plenty of work still remains to be done in “the world’s most dangerous place.” - Subscribe to our channel: http://aje.io/AJSubscribe - Follow us on Twitter: https://twitter.com/AJEnglish - Find us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/aljazeera - Check our website: https://www.aljazeera.com/ #Aljazeeraenglish #News

Iraq: Fallujah residents face birth defects, mines and checkpoints 15 years after US invasion
Residents of Fallujah recounted the consequences that the US invasion and the subsequent emergence of Islamic groups have brought upon the city, including a spike in birth defects, regular deadly mine explosions, as well as entrenched checkpoints. April 28 marks the 15th anniversary of what has become known as the Fallujah killings. On the same day in 2003, at least 20 civilians were killed when US soldiers opened fire during a protest march that civilians went ahead with despite a curfew imposed by the US military. The event marked a turning point in the history of the city, located 65 kilometers west of Baghdad. In the following months, Fallujah saw two massive US-led operations against insurgents. In the aftermath of the war, the city saw a significant rise in cases of cancer and birth defects. Research, including the epidemiological study 'Cancer, Infant Mortality and Birth Sex-Ratio in Fallujah, Iraq 2005 - 2009' by Busby, Hamdan and Ariabi, published in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, has linked this increase to the bombardments during which chemical weapons could have been used. The Second Battle of Fallujah, code named 'Operation Phantom Fury' was launched by the US and its allies in November 2004. Later, US forces admitted that they used white phosphorus during the operation, but US Central Command (CENTCOM) has denied using depleted uranium munitions in the same operation. In 2014, US organisations Center for Constitutional Rights and Iraq Veterans Against the War, which counts veterans who fought in Fallujah among its members, filed a Freedom of Information Act request with the Department of Defence. The purpose was to get more information about the use of depleted uranium in Iraq to better assess possible consequences for their own health as well as that of Iraqi civilians. Seven-year-old Fatima Shehab was born with her hands and feet severely deformed. "At first I had a few miscarriages, then I had Fatima," said the girl's mother. "When she was born we found that she had defects in her extremities, in the hands and feet. The doctors discovered that it was a result of the phosphorus which was used by the Americans," she explained. Dr. Samira al-Ani, a pediatrician who heads the local council studying birth defects following the battles of Fallujah, explained that certified German labs "found uranium, mercury and other pollutants" in analysed samples. Following the 2011 withdrawal of the last US troops from Iraq, the insurgency intensified and Fallujah became the first city to fall to the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) and affiliated groups. A full-blown civil war ensued. It wasn't until June 2016 that Fallujah was finally recaptured by the Iraqi Army. Almost two years later, Iraqi soldiers still control traffic into and out of Fallujah through the al-Suqoor checkpoint. Residents including local merchants express frustration at the delays caused by the strict controls which are still in place. Security forces "go into the trucks, turn all the boxes over, they walk all over the fruit," said fruit seller Abu Seif. "It's easier to come through with drugs." Checkpoints leading to delays and financial losses are not the only daily reminder of the bloody battles which scarred Fallujah. The city has still not been fully cleared of the mines and explosives that IS planted at the height of its battles with the Iraqi security forces and there are often reports of injuries or even deaths. "We came back from the [IDP] camp to Fallujah, they told us that Fallujah and its suburbs are all clean from IEDs, we came back on the road, and came back to clean. As we were cleaning the house an IED went of and killed my sister and my sister-in-law," said Fallujah resident Fouad Khalaf. Others complain that authorities do not pay enough attention to the issue. As Fallujah residents struggle to rebuild their lives after 15 years of bloodshed, a council of Imams called Ribat al-Mohammadi, are doing their part to bridge the sectarian divide and bring society back together. Ribat al-Mohammadi started their work in 2007, spreading the message of moderate Islam. Under IS, their mosques were attacked and the scholars had to leave Fallujah for Haditha, where they took up weapons and then fought against IS militants under the umbrella of the Popular Mobilisation Forces. UBC/BCCA Medical Physics Journal Club - #02 - "Early History"
‣In this meeting we take a retrospective look at the early history of (medical) physics. We focus on the interplay between early researchers, physicians and the coincidences that occurred in the early, "pre-quantum" days of physics. We then briefly consider the emergence of medical physics: a field in which the principles of the new physics are applied to medical applications. • Preparatory background reading: ◦ Laughlin, John S. "History of medical physics." Physics Today 36.7 (2008): 26-33. • Preparatory background knowledge required: none. • Material difficulty level: low. • Speaker: Hal Clark. • Lecture series number: 02. • Date: 20141107-120000. • Location: UBC, Hennings Building, Room 309. • About the series: ‣The Medical Physics Journal Club is put on by graduate students at the University of British Columbia and the British Columbia Cancer Agency. We aim to cover materials which are not typically covered during graduate school, but which are important for Medical Physicists to know (e.g., clinical guidelines, technical specifications, classic papers on select topics). Emphasis is on encouraging dialogue between members/attendees/viewers. Comments and questions are welcomed! • Additional materials, references: [1] Lederman, Manuel. In the story of the “Gunfight at the OK Corral,” Earp is often portrayed as the hero, the good guy we all should be rooting for. In truth, Wyatt Earp was a much more complicated individual who, among other things, was arrested several times in his life for various offenses, involved in a few major scandals (sometimes on the “bad guy” side), and otherwise seemed to be an individual who balanced precariously on that line between a life as a criminal and a life as a lawman. Are electric cars really green? An investigation of Bjorn Lomborg's claims.
CORRECTIONS: 11:30 -- Estonia's electricity is not mostly coal-powered, it is mostly oil-shale powered. They both produce large amounts of CO2, so the point is the same. The result is that electric cars powered by the Estonian grid are much less green than in France. The photo of the 'lithium mine' is a diamond mine, according to National Geographic. A real lithium mine in Western Australia looks almost identical: www.wattelectricalnews.com/NEWS/Lithium-Mining-Delivers-BIG-for-WA,-Increased-Spodumene-Production/46120 SOURCES ARE BELOW If you would like to support this channel financially, I don't need the money. I make these videos if people donate to a charity I strongly endorse called Health in Harmony. It’s building clinics in Borneo that provide affordable health care to villages in return for a pledge not to cut down trees. The pledges are monitored, and the result is a dramatic decrease in deforestation rates and an increase in the health of the local population. You can make a donation here… https://healthinharmony.org/donate/ See https://psmag.com/social-justice/save-the-trees-well-save-your-life-46121 for an explanation of their work for details. Manoomin: Michigan teens, American Indians restore wild rice
The Manoomin Project is restoring wild rice to northern Michigan thru the hands of at-risk teenagers with help from American Indian guides. Over 100 teens have planted more than one ton of wild rice seeds during the past four summers thanks to guides from several Native American communities and other volunteers including from Marquette County Juvenile Court. The wild rice project was founded by the Cedar Tree Institute in Marquette, Michigan and the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community to help the teenagers learn respect for themselves, nature and American Indian heritage. The teens can also learn about faith and are taught social issues like racism against Native American. Normally held in September, the fourth annual planting was delayed until November 2007 due to lo water levels in Wisconsin where the seeds are purchased. HOW World War I Started: Crash Course World History 209
In which John Green teaches you about World War I and how it got started. Crash Course doesn't usually talk much about dates, but the way that things unfolded in July and August of 1914 are kind of important to understanding the Great War. You'll learn about Franz Ferdinand, Gavrilo Pincep, the Black Hand, and why the Serbian nationalists wanted to kill the poor Archduke. You'll also learn who mobilized first and who exactly started the war. Sort of. Actually there's no good answer to who started the war, but we give it a shot anyway. You can directly support Crash Course at https://www.patreon.com/crashcourse Subscribe for as little as $0 to keep up with everything we're doing. Free is nice, but if you can afford to pay a little every month, it really helps us to continue producing this content.

America's Obsessives: The Compulsive Energy That Built a Nation
In this examination of the arc of American history through the lens of compulsive behavior, Kendall shows how some of the nation's greatest achievements - from the Declaration of Independence to the invention of the iPhone - have roots in the disappointments and frustrations of early childhood. Starting with the obsessive natures of some of the Silicon Valley's titans, including Steve Jobs, Kendall moves on to profile seven iconic figures, such as founding father Thomas Jefferson, licentious librarian Melvil Dewey, condiment kingpin H.J. Heinz, slugger Ted Williams and cosmetics queen Estee Lauder, who was so obsessed with touching other women's faces that she transformed her compulsion into a multibillion-dollar corporation. Speaker Biography: Joshua Kendall did much of the research for his new book at the Library of Congress. He is the author of "The Man Who Made Lists," about the creation of Roget's Thesaurus, and "The Forgotten Founding Father," a biography of Noah Webster, the lexicographer responsible for Webster's Dictionary. He is also an award-winning journalist whose work has appeared in The Wall Street Journal, the Los Angeles Times, the Financial Times, Psychology Today and BusinessWeek, among others publications.
