Why Tunnels Don't Collapse

08:40
How simple reinforcement is used to prevent collapse of rock tunnels. Tunnels play an important role in our constructed environment as passageways for mines, conveyance for utilities, and routes for transportation. Rock bolts are a type of reinforcement for stabilizing rock excavations, usually made from steel bars or bolts. This simple construction method dramatically reduces the cost of making tunnels through rock safe from collapse. -Patreon: http://patreon.com/PracticalEngineering -Website: http://practical.engineering Tonic and Energy by Elexive is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution License Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U6fBPdu8w9U Thanks to our sponsor Dollar Shave Club, new members get their 1st month of the Daily Essentials Starter Set including trial-sized versions of their Shave Butter, Body Cleanser and One Wipe Charlies’ Butt Wipes along with their Executive Razor for ONLY $5 with FREE shipping. STRANGEST Things People Found In Their Backyard!

Check out the strangest things people found in their backyard! From unexplained discoveries to hidden treasures, here are the top 10 most amazing discoveries found in people's backyard! Cash in a Bag In August 2011, Wayne Sabaj, a 51-year-old unemployed carpenter from Illinois, was picking broccoli in his backyard garden when he found $150,000 stashed in a nylon bag. He reported the discovery to the police with the understanding that if the money was not claimed by anyone else by the end of 2012, it would be his. Would you have done the same? 11. Human Remains In 2011, Don Selby in Salt Lake City, Utah was working with his crew in a homeowner’s yard. Some reports say they were digging out a water main while other reports suggest they were digging up a pond. Either way, they made a discovery – human bones. Frightened by the unexpected find, he called the police. 10. Bronze Age Headstone When amateur historian Stephen Davis from England began researching the history of his house, he came across a reference to an ancient stone called the Horestone near Stroud, which had been lost for 350 years! Eventually, he began swapping notes with a local historian named Claire Forbes and eventually decided to go on a hunt for it. 9. Loaded Machine Earlier this year, a man from northeast Calgary, Canada made a strange discovery in his backyard. Between his garage and the fence, he found a plastic bag containing a pillowcase. This is always a bad sign. 8. 1700s Cemetery Some people say that New Orleans is built over the and it seems that way, with its plethora of cemeteries. When Vincent Marcello from New Orleans, Louisiana decided to dig a plot in his backyard for a swimming pool, he ended up discovering a historic cemetery dating back to the 1700s. 7. A Hollywood Actress In 1996, 47-year-old Canadian-born actress Margot Kidder, the spunky original Lois Lane in the “Superman” movies, was found in someone's backyard in Glendale, California. The actress, who was battling health and financial problems at that time, had been missing for three days before she was found. She was supposed to have flown to Arizona from Los Angeles to teach a class. 6. Church Bells In 2013, a man from the Czech Republic was digging up his backyard to install some pipes when he stumbled across some unusual metal objects. Just as a side note, always call the city before you start digging deep in your backyard! 5. Mastodon Bones In 2012, two boys named Eric and Andrew from Detroit, Michigan were building a dam in the creek that flows through their backyard when Eric saw a strange-looking rock sticking up from the ground. Eric thought it was a rock but his cousin, Andrew, immediately recognized it as an animal bone. 4. Meteorites The chances of you finding a piece of meteorite in your backyard is pretty small, let alone a meteorite hitting your house six times in a row. But that is exactly what happened to Radivoke Lajic, a Serbian man living in a little village in northern Bosnia. It looks like the man´s property, for some reason, attracts space rocks! 2. Whale Fossil In 1978, 17-year-old Gary Johnson from Palos Verde, California noticed a large rock sticking out of a hill between his house and a neighbor’s. It appeared to have a bone pattern. Thinking it could be an important find, Johnson called in an expert to evaluate it. I don’t know what kind of expert he was but anyway, he said it had no value. 1. A Cheetah In 2008, nine-year-old Toby from Hamerton, in the U.K. ran to his mother shouting that there was a cheetah in the garden. His mother dismissed his claims as childhood excitement. Clearly. I mean, its the UK. That is, until Julie-Ann Taylor looked out of the kitchen window. To her astonishment, she realized her son wasn’t joking. How Microwaving Grapes Makes Plasma

08:16
A bisected grape in the microwave makes plasma. But how does it work? A grape is the right size and refractive index to trap microwaves inside it. When you place two (or two halves) close together the fields interact with each other creating a maximum of electromagnetic energy where they touch. This creates heating, sparks, and plasma, which is further fed with energy directly by the microwaves. Huge thanks to Hamza Khattak, Prof. Pablo Bianucci and Prof. Aaron Slepkov (unavailable for the call) for chatting to me and helping me understand the physics of this cool phenomenon. What jobs will flourish in the future. And which you should avoid. | Michio Kaku

There was a crash program back then to miniaturize the transistor. That’s why our astronauts like John Glenn, they’re short people. They were tiny people. The Russian astronauts, they’re also very tiny because they have to fit inside the nose cone of a missile, and we scientists were given the mission to miniaturize transistors as far as possible. Now, as a consequence of that, we have what is called the Internet age today. All the goodies you see in your living room, all the telecommunication wonders of the Internet were in part a consequence of this mass drive to miniaturize transistors, because we were in the Cold War with the Soviet Union. Now, as we enter the second golden era there’s going to be yet another crash program to miniaturize computers even more. This means transistors made out of molecules, quantum computers, a whole new era of computation. So there could be yet another golden age of computer technology emerging because of the emphasis placed on going to Mars with the cheapest, lightest possible object, and this means even more computer power. Then the other question is: “Well, what are the jobs that are going to be there in the future?” Well, first of all I tell people that semiskilled work will be with us for many decades to come, including garbage men, sanitation workers, plumbers, policemen, gardeners, construction workers. You see, robots cannot pick up garbage. Robots cannot design a garden. Robots cannot solve a crime. We forget that robots are very bad at pattern recognition! Robots cannot fix your toilet, and they probably won’t be able to for many decades to come. In fact the Pentagon even sponsored the DARPA Challenge to create a Fukushima robot. Their job was to take our skills of today and build a robot that could clean up Fukushima. This means A, driving a car, B, getting out of the car, C, sweeping the floor, turning a valve and doing some simple maintenance work that a five-year-old kid could do. Well, the results are on the Internet. You can download them and they’re hilarious. You see many robots falling over with the inability to get up because they’re like an upside down turtle; they‘re simply stuck on the floor. We have a long ways to go before we master pattern recognition at the level of a plumber, at the level of a gardener. The job to avoid in the future, however, are the middleman jobs, for example, brokers and low-level tellers and accountants. For example, today when you go to a stockbroker you no longer buy stock. Now you may say to yourself, “That’s stupid, everybody knows when you go to a stockbroker you buy stock, I mean what else are you going to buy?” Well, no. You don’t buy stock when you go to a stockbroker. You can buy stock on your wristwatch so why bother to go to a stockbroker? Because you want something that stockbrokers provide that robots cannot. And that is intellectual capital. That means experience, know how, savvy, innovation, talent, leadership—none of which computers and robots can provide. So the large explosion of jobs in the future will be jobs that robots cannot do, i.e. Jobs involving pattern recognition and jobs involving common sense, as well as middlemen jobs that involve intellectual capital, creativity—products of the mind. Those are the jobs which are still going to flourish in the future. As Tony Blair of England likes to say, England derives more revenue today from rock ‘n’ roll than it does with the coal mining industry. And why is that? Because coal mining represents commodity capital. Commodity capital, yes we’ll have it for decades, centuries to come, but it falls in price every year. Agriculture, for example: today you had breakfast that the king of England could not have had a hundred years ago. Think of what you had for breakfast: Delicacies from around the world, almost for free. That’s because agriculture being a commodity drops in price because of better containerization, mass production, shipping, better cultural methods and things like that. So this means that jobs that are intellectual rather than are commodity related will flourish in the future.

5 Mistakes Beginners Make When Learning Guitar Online

10:10
SUBSCRIBE TO ANDY'S CHANNEL http://goo.gl/nDtSmJ ► Andy Guitar APP - FREE download https://www.andyguitar.co.uk/andy-guitar-app/ TOP 5 MISTAKES BEGINNERS MAKE LEARNING GUITAR ONLINE 1- Tensing and twisting the wrist while strumming Strumming motion begins at the elbow with just a little movement of the wrist. The most important thing it to RELAX the arm and just have enough tension to hold on top the pick 2- Picking is a small motion that should be done with movement of the wrist only Resting the wrist is optional, but I think it will help most people be more accurate with their picking 3- Putting chord fingers down one at a time Try making the shape of the chord with your fingers before putting the fingers down 4- Not knowing where the beat falls and understand 'ghost strums' (hand movements that you don't strum) 5- Not building a repertoire of songs Need more help with this? Principles of Christian Freedom 1 Corinthians 10:23–11:1 April 11, 1976 10 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; 2 And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea; 3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat; 4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ. 5 But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness. 6 Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted. 7 Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play. 8 Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand. 9 Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents. 10 Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer. 11 Now all these things happened unto them for examples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come. 12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall. 13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. 14 Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry. 15 I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say. 16 The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ? 17 For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread. 18 Behold Israel after the flesh: are not they which eat of the sacrifices partakers of the altar? 19 What say I then? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing? 20 But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils. 21 Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils. 22 Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he? 23 All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not. 24 Let no man seek his own, but every man another's wealth. 25 Whatsoever is sold in the shambles, that eat, asking no question for conscience sake: 26 For the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof. 27 If any of them that believe not bid you to a feast, and ye be disposed to go; whatsoever is set before you, eat, asking no question for conscience sake. 28 But if any man say unto you, this is offered in sacrifice unto idols, eat not for his sake that shewed it, and for conscience sake: for the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof: 29 Conscience, I say, not thine own, but of the other: for why is my liberty judged of another man's conscience? 30 For if I by grace be a partaker, why am I evil spoken of for that for which I give thanks? 31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. 32 Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God: 33 Even as I please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved. How are these seemingly plain white paintings considered art and why is it that not anyone can pick up a tube of white paint and make one? We talk to Elisabeth Sherman, an assistant curator at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York about why there is much more to these paintings than meets the eye, and while you could have painted on of these priceless pieces of art, you didn't. Detecting Motifs Under Uniform Scaling

01:02
Time series motifs are approximately repeated patterns found within the data. Such motifs have utility for many data mining algorithms, including rule-discovery, novelty-detection, summarization and clustering. In this video we demonstrate that when looking for time series motifs one needs to account for uniform scaling, the speed at which the patterns develop.

The hidden oil patterns on bowling lanes

07:41
Every bowling lane has a hidden oil pattern. In this episode of Vox Almanac, Phil Edwards finds out what that means. Help us make more ambitious videos by joining the Vox Video Lab. It gets you exclusive perks, like livestream Q&As with all the Vox creators, a badge that levels up over time, and video extras bringing you closer to our work! Learn more at http://bit.ly/video-lab Every lane has a pattern. In this episode of Vox Almanac, Phil Edwards explores how they change the game. Bowling isn’t just about a great ball and good form — if you want to understand the sport, you have to understand the lane. Every bowling lane, including the one in your neighborhood alley, is coated with an oil pattern to protect the wood. But these patterns aren’t just for protection — the way in which oil is applied to the lane can affect the speed and direction of your ball. These patterns are so important that recreational bowlers and professional bowlers bowl on vastly different patterns — the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) even classifies the patterns it uses in tournaments. Phil Edwards met with professional bowler Parker Bohn III at his childhood bowling alley, Howell Lanes in Howell, New Jersey. He guided Phli through the complex strategy a pro bowler uses when encountering different oil patterns. Not only do they have to assess which pattern is in use, but they also have to judge how that pattern changes as the oil shifts and slides over the day. Knowing how to play a specific lane can be the difference between a title and second place. But these patterns aren’t just for the pros — they’re relevant to recreational bowlers as well. Watch the video to see how you can use these patterns to step up your game. Industry Watch: Al Korelin And Hard Rock Analyst Eric Coffin Talk Economics

07:48
Welcome to Industry Watch with host Al Korelin. In this episode, Al speaks with lead analyst from HRA Analysts (HRA), Mr. Eric Coffin. Responsible for the financial analysis side of HRA, Eric has a degree in Corporate and Investment Finance. Filmed in April 2010, Al and Eric discuss the financial crisis of 2008/2009 and Erics forecasts and industry projections for the North American economy going forward in 2010. Eric Coffin has extensive experience in merger and acquisitions and small company financing and promotion. For many years he tracked the financial performance and funding of all exchange listed Canadian mining companies and has helped with the formation of several successful exploration ventures. Eric has been interviewed on CBC Televisions Business News and national and local radio in Canada and the US for his opinions on resource trends and is a frequent contributor to several third party publications and a number of resource, gold, metals and market related Internet sites. He regularly speaks at a number of North American gold and resource conferences. He was one of the first analysts (along with David) to point out the disastrous effects of gold hedging and gold loan capital financing (1997) and to predict the start of the current secular bull market in commodities based on the movement of the US Dollar (2001) and the acceleration of growth in Asia and India. Eric reviews data from hundreds of companies seeking strong management and finance teams in undiscovered companies for HRA's readers. Combined with good share structures and projects that David like, these companies have the potential to make the HRA list and generate gains for their readers. Biblical Series I: Introduction to the Idea of God

02:38:29
Lecture I in my Psychological Significance of the Biblical Stories series from May 16th at Isabel Bader Theatre in Toronto. In this lecture, I describe what I consider to be the idea of God, which is at least partly the notion of sovereignty and power, divorced from any concrete sovereign or particular, individual person of power. I also suggest that God, as Father, is something akin to the spirit or pattern inherent in the human hierarchy of authority, which is based in turn on the dominance hierarchies characterizing animals. Download the tabs FREE here → https://becomeabassist.com/5-beginner-bass-lines/ ►►Check out the 'sequel' lesson, 5 MORE Beginner Bass Lines. I've taken the most popular bass lines from the comments of this lesson and made a whole new video with the most requested lines. Check it out here: https://youtu.be/WNY-OIj_30U In this lesson, you'll learn 5 beginner bass lines that people will recognize and love - and get people to pay attention to YOUR playing. You see, bass is usually a 'supporting' instrument that goes unnoticed. There are tons of easy guitar riffs or piano riffs that people know and recognize, but if you played the bass lines to any of those songs, people would just look at you and say, "What the ^$&* was that supposed to be?" The bass lines (even the easy bass lines) aren't very recognizable. However, there are a few gems - a few songs where the bass line IS the song. These are the kind of songs where people will immediately recognize the bass line and start singing along. And the best part - these are BEGINNER bass lines. They're a great place to start. So next time someone asks you to 'play something' (I can't stand it when people say this...) you'll have something in your arsenal that is guaranteed to impress. Cheers, Luke P.S. John Lowengrub: Sudying Pattern Formations in Oil Mining Crystal Growth and metallurgy

02:52
At the 2014 SIAM Annual Meeting, John Lowengrub of the University of California, Irvine, gave the Julian Cole Lecture on Growth, Patterning, and Control in Nonequilibrium Systems. Dense-branching morphologies are among the most common forms of microstructural patterning in systems driven out of equilibrium. Prediction and control of the emergent patterns are difficult. Lowengrub's team focuses on viscous fingering as a paradigm for such phenomena, and uses theory and numerics to demonstrate that by controlling the injection rate of the less viscous fluid, we can precisely suppress the evolving interfacial instabilities and control the shape of growing bubbles. Extensions to other pattern-forming systems were also discussed, and applications in oil mining, crystal growth and metallurgy were explained.

In its prime, the Iwami Silver Mine was one of the two largest silver mines in the world, the other being the Cerro Rico silver mine located in Potosí, Bolivia, and Japan was then one of the world’s major silver-producing countries. Silver Silver products were already made in 916 and silver craftsmen called Shiroganeshi (silver masters) were given important posts by the Daimyo (feudal lord) families in the 17th century. The common folk also adored silverware. Japanese silverware items exhibited at the Paris Expo in 1867 won great admiration, even from Europeans, who were very knowledgeable about silver products. Of course, Japanese silverware craftsmanship has been greatly influenced by Europe and incorporates a number of world-class skills, including hammering and inlaying. Hammering is the process of hammering the ground metal into a thin sheet of about 1 mm thickness, using a metal or wooden hammer for forming, while Kashoku (decoration) is a surfacing process involving marking the patterns with a metal hammer. These highly elaborate skills are never practiced in other countries. The patterns created with metal hammers, including Tsuchime (hammered mark), Ishime (rock pattern), and Gozame (matting pattern), impart special textures and their uneven surfaces fit comfortably into users’ hands. Many will be drawn to this silverware, which includes silver goblets for use in celebrations to commemorate long life, silver teapots and silver kettles – very popular in Asian countries – all with a deep luster that does not fade, even after 100 years.

'Led Balloon' 2017 - Graded Study Piece - Band Part - Heavy Rock

02:00
'Led Balloon' - Rock - Heavy Rock. A Guitar & Band study piece One of a series of graded music studies that are genre specific aimed at teaching individual instrument styles and techniques. Learn how to play in a band. Learn how to play Rock - Heavy Rock Led Balloon Introduction Here’s an opportunity for you to rock out and play a piece containing a very satisfying unison riff. This piece is very much inspired by the sounds and riffs of bands such as Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin, so it would be worthwhile listening to their music and paying close attention to the role of each instrument. Analysis The bulk of this piece is constructed around a repeated riff and it’s essential that you get this line to sound and feel right. Remember, this is rock music so make sure you’re playing each note with authority and attitude. To help make this piece sound heavier, you’ll notice that its been purposely written at a slower tempo so please make sure you don’t rush and be as accurate as you can with the placement of every note. Walkthrough The piece starts with drums for 2 bars and then we enter with the guitar playing the unison riff. If you look at the suggested TAB for this piece, you’ll see that I’m choosing to play the octave E on the 7th fret of the A string, rather than on the 2nd fret of the D string. Now, there’s a reason for this and it’s to do with the sound. By choosing to play the same note on a thicker string we actually give the note a much deeper and richer sound, which in this style of music is something we should aim for. This riff repeats every other bar with the drummer filling the spaces, so be prepared to count and ensure each riff begins on the 1st beat of the bar. From Bar 11 we answer the riff with a simple descending pattern using notes from the G Major Scale and once again I’ve decided to play all these notes on the A string for a greater depth of tone. From letter B the piece changes again, this time answering the riff with an A and G chord. Really enjoy the sound of these chords as you play them and if you feel confident have a go at adding the octave notes in as well. The piece begins winding up from letter C. As you can see we’re using rhythm to make the bass part develop and grow in intensity. With each repeat we’re actually subdividing the beat. At first we’re playing minims of two beat notes, then crotchets or one beat notes before ending up playing quavers or eight beat notes. Emphasis this natural crescendo and enjoy how it drives the music along with it. To end there’s a bars rest before we all play the unison riff one last time to finish on a low E. Good Luck!

Halloween Patterns 4 (PREVIEW) - Clone Hero & GH3PC+

05:07
Four long years have passed. Finally, the fourth edition of Halloween Patterns has arrived, with four extra minutes compared to its predecessors. This is definitely my most requested song ever. Every year since 2013, people have been asking me about the next Halloween Patterns. Unfortunately, I had to take a break from Guitar Hero shortly after the third edition. When I finally had enough time in my hands, Guitar Hero was no longer a priority nor a passion of mine, which led to the indefinite hiatus of the Halloween Patterns series. I had the chance to produce this song in other occasions, but I didn't want to rush things like I did with Regression, one of the songs I'm least proud of. After all this time, I believe everyone was hopeless about Halloween Patterns 4 happening. Even I thought it would never happen, I didn't think I could create a song worthy of this series anymore. I was wrong, it finally happened. This year, specifically a month ago, the urge and inspiration to create this song were huge. I wanted to create something that I would be proud of musically. Most importantly, I wanted to make the last edition of Halloween Patterns something fun and challenging. A song that virtually every player would be able to enjoy playing, while still being rather difficult to master. Combining the musical skills I've acquired over the years with some lessons learned from my latest release, this song was born. I hope you will enjoy this as much as I did while creating it. Download Link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwuJ3Mz5fpikZDR0dkNCdVFFZFU/view?usp=sharing This is the regular version of Halloween Patterns 4. I intended to make it FCable on Clone Hero as well as GH3+, which is why it seems I've gone a bit too easy compared to the previous versions. However, I still believe it will be challenging enough for an FC. Hopefully this will be enjoyable not only for the current top players. Still, I'm going to release Halloween Patterns 4- in about four hours. Maybe check that one if this seems too hard. If you think this is far too easy, don't panic. Keep an eye out for Halloween Patterns 4+, to be released a few hours after the easier version. 2:59 - Mad Monster Mansion by Grant Kirkhope (Banjo-Kazooie) As exciting and fun as it was, I feel I've achieved my purpose here and brought my song catalogue to a perfect end. This officially ends my songwriting and charting career in this community. An end I can finally be proud of. And as for the future, well I really don't know. Thank you so much for the support over all these years. Best regards, Spunky

Made this video for a good friend of mine to use for his vocal lesson. This isn't really a lesson per se, but the camera angle is setup so you can pick it up pretty easy. The chords are: C|Csus4| Repeated for the intro and verse, then Am|F|C|Csus4|1234|Am in 6/4|1234| the 1234 part's go C, C/B, Am, G then F,E,D,D same C|Csus4 for the next part then for the Bridge it's Am|F|C|G|1234|Am in 6/4|1234|C|Csus4 Chorus goes F|C|F|G; then |F|C|G|G|

Meteorite Found on Mars Yields Clues About Planet's Past08.10.09 This view of a rock called "Block Island," the largest meteorite yet found on Mars, comes from the panoramic camera (Pancam) on NASA's Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity. Full image and caption This iron-nickel meteorite found near Fort Stockton, Texas, in 1952 shows a surface texture similar to some portions of the surface of an iron-nickel meteorite that NASA's Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity found on Mars in July 2009. Full image and caption NASA's Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity used its microscopic imager to get this view of the surface of a rock called "Block Island" during the 1,963rd Martian day, or sol, of the rover's mission on Mars (Aug. 1, 2009). Full image and caption PASADENA, Calif. -- NASA's Mars Rover Opportunity is investigating a metallic meteorite the size of a large watermelon that is providing researchers more details about the Red Planet's environmental history. The rock, dubbed "Block Island," is larger than any other known meteorite on Mars. Scientists calculate it is too massive to have hit the ground without disintegrating unless Mars had a much thicker atmosphere than it has now when the rock fell. An atmosphere slows the descent of meteorites. Additional studies also may provide clues about how weathering has affected the rock since it fell. Two weeks ago, Opportunity had driven approximately 180 meters (600 feet) past the rock in a Mars region called Meridiani Planum. An image the rover had taken a few days earlier and stored was then transmitted back to Earth. The image showed the rock is approximately 60 centimeters (2 feet) in length, half that in height, and has a bluish tint that distinguishes it from other rocks in the area. The rover team decided to have Opportunity backtrack for a closer look, eventually touching Block Island with its robotic arm. "There's no question that it is an iron-nickel meteorite," said Ralf Gellert of the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada. Gellert is the lead scientist for the rover's alpha particle X-ray spectrometer, an instrument on the arm used for identifying key elements in an object. "We already investigated several spots that showed elemental variations on the surface. This might tell us if and how the metal was altered since it landed on Mars." The microscopic imager on the arm revealed a distinctive triangular pattern in Block Island's surface texture, matching a pattern common in iron-nickel meteorites found on Earth. "Normally this pattern is exposed when the meteorite is cut, polished and etched with acid," said Tim McCoy, a rover team member from the Smithsonian Institution in Washington. "Sometimes it shows up on the surface of meteorites that have been eroded by windblown sand in deserts, and that appears to be what we see with Block Island." Opportunity found a smaller iron-nickel meteorite, called "Heat Shield Rock," in late 2004. At about a half ton or more, Block Island is roughly 10 times as massive as Heat Shield Rock and several times too big to have landed intact without more braking than today's Martian atmosphere could provide.

[FOF] Guitar Hero and Rock Band Custom Solos Compilation Part IX (1080p HD)

Random solos on various themes. The solos get progressively harder as the video advances. Sometimes after a solo, the percentage of notes hit will be calculated incorrectly for a solo section. But, I did in fact get 100% on every solo in the video. This error is due to the fact that I skipped boring or incredibly challenging parts of solos leaving out that portion of the section to be calculated. The solos played were: Made of Hate - Mirror of Sins 0:07 Aeveron - Cathartic Rain 0:44 Bullet For My Valentine - Begging For Mercy 1:16 Disarmonia Mundi - Common State Of Inner Violence 2:05 Muse - Stockholm Syndrome 2:38 Muse - The Groove 3:05 Example Vs. Felguk - Plastic Smile 3:55 Bullet For My Valentine - Pain and Pleasure 5:20 Coheed and Cambria - The End Complete III: The End Complete 6:17 Coheed and Cambria - Gravemakers and Gunslingers 7:02 Cloudscape - Mind Diary 7:39 Luka Megurine - Corruption Garden 8:23 Gorod - Birds of Sulphur 8:45 Glamour of the Kill - A Hope In Hell 9:25 Versailles - The Red Carpet Day 9:54 The Human Abstract - Patterns 10:18 Slyosis - Empyreal 11:09 All That Remains - The Air That I Breathe 11:41 Versailles - Suzerain 12:17 In order to clear up any confusion, I use the Left Shift, Z, X, C, and V keys for the green, red, yellow, blue, and orange notes, respectively. I use Enter to strum and Right Shift to alt strum. The PgUp key is used to whammy and the PgDn key is used to activate Star Power/Overdrive. Of course, all of those key configurations can be mapped to my liking. I've found that the current mapping is most compliant with my keyboard so that's the way I've mapped it.

A lead single is usually the first single to be released from a studio album, by a musician or a band, before the album itself is released. During the era of the gramophone record, all music arrived in the marketplace as what is now termed a single, one potential hit song backed by an additional song of generally less commercial appeal on a single ten-inch 78 rpm shellac record. After the launch of the long-playing microgroove record in 1948 and the arrival of the 45 rpm single the following year, singles continued to appear separately from albums into the 1960s. For instance, the early rock and roll market of the 1950s and early 1960s was very much focused on singles rather than albums. Songs such as "Heartbreak Hotel", "Johnny B. Goode", and "Tutti Frutti" only appeared later on album compilations of singles. Even through the 1960s, leading rock artists such as The Beatles, The Beach Boys, Bob Dylan, and The Rolling Stones issued songs such as "Strawberry Fields Forever", "Penny Lane," "Good Vibrations", "Positively 4th Street", and "Honky Tonk Women" as singles apart from any contemporary albums. This changed in the 1970s as the popular music industry shifted to the album as its main profit center. Singles became advertisements for an album, the lead single conceptually defined as a foretaste of the album to come. On average a lead single will appear about one month before the album's release date. "Go Your Own Way" from Rumours, "Miss You" from Some Girls, and "The Girl Is Mine" from Thriller all roughly follow this pattern. This has become a common practice through the 21st century for album-oriented recording artists. Lead singles are often a deciding factor for consumers debating purchase of a still unissued album, and the choosing of which track from an album to be issued as the lead single can be crucial to the album's commercial success. The standard rejoinder for record company executives, when presented with an album of dubious commercial potential, is "I don't hear the single." In the 2000s, a common trend developed to release a lead single months in advance of the album release date. It has equally become common for a second lead single to be released before the release of the album. For example, Usher issued the lead single "Love in this Club" four months prior to the May 29, 2008 release of Here I Stand. The second single "Love in This Club, Pt. II" was released one month before the album release date. Another example is Justin Timberlake's 2013 album, The 20/20 Experience, which was released on March 19, 2013. The first single off it is "Suit & Tie", released 2 months before the album hit stores. 1 month prior to the release of the album, another lead single called, "Mirrors", was released. Katy Perry released California Gurls as a singleon May 7, 2010, and Teenage Dream on July 23, 2010, leading to the release of the album Teenage Dream on August 24, 2010. Artists often choose songs that are more up-tempo as lead singles. Such songs are often catchier and attract attention toward listeners. However, the subsequent lead single might be slower in tempo in order to demonstrate the range of the album. Female vocalists like Mariah Carey and Christina Aguilera often maintain a formula of an up-tempo first lead single with a slow ballad follow-up....
