DISABILITY SERVICE OFFICER MIGRATING FROM PHILIPPINES TO AUSTRALIA

03:45
Mabuhay! This video is presented by Jose Respall, the principal of Respall Migration Australia which was founded in 1999. If you are a Filipino Disability Service Officer working in the Philippines or overseas in a country outside Australia here is a great opportunity for you. A chance to further your career in Australia. It is a land of opportunity with higher wages and a wonderful relaxed way of life. Joseis a registered migration agent who specialises in Australian immigration. The first step involves reading the first 4 chapters of Jose Respall's book Avoiding The Migration Minefield - How To Migrate To Australia From The Philippines. The book captures his 14 years of Australian immigration experience. Respall has made the first 4 chapters available in a downloadable e-book from the website at http://www.respall.com. He has included real life Australian immigration case studies, hints and tips on how to migrate to Australia, technical information and the all-important code of conduct. The video outlines the process to receiving a visa to live in Australia. The Disability Service Officer applicant must attend a review for the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) at Respall Migration Australia Manila. This is done to help the applicant to pass it.Respall Migration Australia documentation specialists assist the Disability Service Officer with each document to make sure it is correct - this includes improving their CV to Australian standards. Respall liaises with the Australian assessing authority. For example, VETASSESS. Once the IELTS test has been passed and assessing authorityhas provided a favourable letter the next step is for Respall Migration Australia to prepare an Expression of Interest and lodge it with the Department of Immigration and Boarder Protection (DIPB). The department sends specific instructions regarding the application for Australian immigration and Respall Migration Australia help the Disability Service Officer to complete the requests. Once those requirements are met the department issues a visa grant for the applicant and their family members - if they are included in the application for Australian immigration. To start this whole process a Filipino Disability Service Officer must email their CV to Respall Migration Australia for assessment. Professionals living in the Philippines can meet Respall Migration Australia in their Makati City office; those further away can Skype. The complete book Avoiding The Migration Minefield - How To Migrate To Australia From The Philippines will officially be launched in May 2014 to celebrate the 15th anniversary of Respall Migration Australia. Respall Migration Australian principal Jose Respall says there is a real minefield when it comes to Australian immigration. Professionals being highly skilled sometimes attempt to prepare their own visa applications but they can't be expected to know the Migration Act and keep up with Australian government changes to legislation which occur several times a year. One wrong answer or incorrect document can jeopardise the entire application. The other danger is the many unscrupulous and corrupt individuals who promise to help but really are only interested in taking the applicant's money and disappearing. Some have masqueraded as migration agents. The end result is usually the visa applicant losing a lot of money for no gain. Respall Migration Australia stresses the need for a genuine and valid visa application for Australian immigration. A Filipino Disability Service Officer has peace of mind knowing that Jose Respall, who is located in Sydney, Australia, is a registered migration agent as is the manager of his operation based in the Philippines and they must abide by the Code of Conduct as a breach of the code would see their licence being removed. A copy of the code of conduct is provided by Respall Migration Australia to their clients. Use this link Respall http://www.respall.com to get your copy of the first 4 chapters of Avoiding The Migration Minefield - How To Migrate To Australia From The Philippines and start your journey to a new and better life!

At a time like this where there are terrorists on the loose, you are always looking for additional security from any direction you can get it, whether it's from our regional security team or our DS teams or from the local host country. But when we have asked for help we have received it and in my view the Saudis are doing a good job at protecting us in spite of the occurrence that occurred at the consulate yesterday." 13. News conference STORYLINE: The attack on the US consulate on Monday that left nine people dead helped push oil prices higher on Tuesday and shook Saudi Arabia's confidence that it is winning the "war on terror" in its own backyard. The Monday assault on the American consulate in downtown Jiddah was the worst attack since May. Five consulate employees, all non-American, were killed and another four were injured. Three of the five attackers died in the gun battle. A fourth died of his wounds and a fifth was captured wounded. The Interior Ministry said on Tuesday that four of the five assailants were Saudis. The US Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, James Oberwetter held a news conference to explain the events surrounding the attack. He said Saudi authorities were doing a good job of protecting Americans based in the country. A militant web site showed a statement allegedly from Al-Qaida claiming responsibility, saying the operation had been dubbed "the blessed Fallujah battle," referring to the former insurgent stronghold in Iraq invaded last month by US troops. It said Monday's attack was carried out by the "unit of the martyr Abu Anas al Shami," who was a spiritual adviser to Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the predominant militant in Iraq. There was no way to confirm the claim. This was among other views expressed by speakers at a round table discussion hosted by the united states embassy in Abuja to commemorate the 2016 international anti-corruption day.

K1 Visa Processing Timeline 2018

10:44
http://www.visacoach.com/k1-visa-timeline.html How long does it take to get a K1 Fiance visa? In 2018 most cases typically take 7 to 9 months on average from the time USCIS receives the I-129F fiance visa application until the K-1 visa is embossed onto the foreign fiancee’s passport. Today's question is: How long does it take to get a K1 Fiance visa? As of January 2018, the answer is 7 to 9 months on average. 5 - 7 months USCIS 1/2 month NVC 1 - 2 months Consulate I regularly get calls from people saying those numbers must be wrong, because they found a website or person who promised a MUCH shorter processing time so whats their secret? Well the secret is they are either telling you what "you want to hear" so they can get your money, or just referring to one step of the process, not combining and adding up ALL the steps from initial submission of your petition, to visa embossed onto your fiancee's passport When I give time estimates I always use what is relevant to the couple, and that is starting from the day USCIS receives the petition, ending on the day your foreign fiancee gets the visa. Two separate departments of the US government are involved. USCIS (homeland security) and the Department of State. From Mid 2017 through to 2018 Homeland Security recently is getting their job done relatively slowly, currently taking 5 to 7 months. (this compares to processing times of a rapid 2 to 3 months just a year ago, and well under the 5 month Policy standard they have set for themselves. Why is USCIS now taking 2 to 3 times as long? I call this the Trump Effect. President Trump after taking office in January 2017 has mandated that USCIS vigorously enforce and administer immigration laws, take no short cuts. The goal is to restrict Legal immigration while stopping illegal immigration. "We have to get much tougher, much smarter, and less politically correct," Trump said. What this means is that they are very closely examining and scrutinizing all cases looking for reasons to deny. In addition cases that regularly had their interviews waived now specifically there is an Executive order that no interviews regardless of the strength of their evidences, may be waived. The result is USCIS has more work to do, has more bases to touch in the processing of EACH case. And while President Trump has promised to hire more staff to handle the increased load, so far no new staff has been hired, but the workload has increased. This is the Trump Effect. More work, with same staff. The result is that USCIS processing times for fiance visas have stretched to take at least 5 to 7 months. And it is possible this may even get worse, depending on how many new steps USCIS is asked to take, such as "extreme vetting" and "social media data mining" that are new labor intensive steps that have been proposed but not implemented yet. USCIS Processing includes a backround check by the FBI In addition to the general slow down due to the "Trump Effect" what also affects how long it takes for USCIS to approve your case is a function of how complete your petition is, how busy the processing center is, how current your FBI file is, and a bit of luck. The most obvious source of added delay is caused by incomplete and sloppy petitions. When USCIS finds a problem, processing grinds to a halt, and it is stopped until the problem is fixed. Sometimes the errors are so big that they don't bother asking for corrections and simply deny a case outright. Once USCIS finishes their part, the case is passed to the US Department of State. The Department of State has a processing center in New Hampshire, called the National Visa Center or NVC. NVC basically assigns a new Department of State case number, then forwards the file on to the American Consulate reponsible to issue the visa. Once NVC has completed their actions, a few weeks later the case file physically arrives at the consulate assigned to process your Fiancee. Within a few weeks, the consulate contacts your Fiancee directly with instructions on booking the interview, attending the medical and final document checklists. Some consulates are busier, more efficient, and or work faster than others. In Philippines the process is very efficient and fast. Interviews can be booked by the fiancee about a month later. In Vietnam and China it may be 2 to 3 months later before the consulate advises the interview can be scheduled. The Approval/Denial decision is made during the interview. Then in about 2 weeks the passport with its new K1 visa is returned. Just as in medicine commercials on TV. "Your results may vary". Some of my clients get their visas faster, some slower. If in 2018 you anticipate 7 to 9 months average K1 Fiance Visa processing time, you won't be far off.

Nails, needles removed from Sri Lankan maid who says she was abused

(27 Aug 2010) 1. Various of hospital nurses looking at X-rays of woman who says she had 13 nails and five needles put into her body 2. Various of surgeons operating on woman in theatre 3. Various of nails and needles removed from woman 4. Woman being wheeled out on operating table STORYLINE Doctors removed 13 nails and five needles from a Sri Lankan maid who claims the couple she worked for in Saudi Arabia hammered them into her body. LG Ariyawathi, who was hospitalised with severe pain after returning on Saturday from Saudi Arabia, has alleged the family she worked for punished her by heating the nails and needles before sticking them into her. X-rays showed that she had 24 nails and needles in her body, said Dr Keerthi Satharasinghe of Kamburupitiya hospital, about 100 miles (160 kilometres) from the capital, Colombo. The nails ranged in length from one to two inches (2.5 to 5 centimetres) while the needles were about one inch (2.5 centimetres) long. They were removed from her legs and forehead. The procedure took three hours Doctors said six more needles in her hands could not be removed because the operation might damage her nerves and arteries, but that they would not be harmful to her. Since being hospitalised, Ariyawathi, 49, has described the abuse allegedly meted out by her employers. "They did not allow me even to rest. The woman at the house had heated the nails and then the man inserted them into my body," Ariyawathi was quoted as saying by the Lakbima newspaper. She told the newspaper that she went to Saudi Arabia in March but was paid only two months' salary, with her employer withholding the rest to buy an air ticket to send her home. About 1.5 (m) million Sri Lankans work abroad, many as maids or drivers, to earn more than they can in their own impoverished country. Nearly 400,000 work in Saudi Arabia alone. Sri Lanka's Foreign Employment Bureau said Ariyawathi had been too afraid to complain about the abuse to Saudi authorities, fearing that her employers might not let her return home. Deputy Minister of Economic Development Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena said the government would report the matter to the Saudi government and provide her compensation. Saudi officials did not respond to requests for comment. A labour counsellor at the Sri Lankan Embassy in Riyadh, said the embassy had requested a meeting with Saudi officials. We deal with two separate departments of the US government USCIS which is part of homeland security as well as the Department of State. They each have their own requirements forms and hurdles that must be overcome. Since your future "happy ever after" is at stake it is important, no, it is essential, that each step the carefully accomplished. That is why here at VisaCoach we have set up clear and well thought out procedures that we follow for each and every case. This way we know that every T is crossed and every I is dotted to ensure a visa approval. This is a much too important life-changing process to leave anything to chance. Step 1: Personal Consultation. Unlike attorneys and cheap computerized/robot type document preparers, I offer a very personal service. I get to know my couples well, and we work together as a team to accompish your goals. The truth is, getting a visa for your spouse is only a first step. After arrival, there's still more to do. There will be getting the green card demonstrating conditional permanent residency, then two years later, upgrading your spouse's status to unconditional permanent residency, then finally US Citizenship. Usually I work closely with a couple for all these steps and we are together as long as it takes, usually for about 5 to 6 years. To enjoy our good personal relationship that will last, I strongly believe that its best that we start off on the right foot, by getting to know which other first, and making sure we are a good match from the "get go". Thats why I invite you to first, speak with me directly on the telephone or on Skype. The is the "free eligibility consultation" I offer. I want to get to know you and the details of your courtship, marriage, and your goals, and your problems or red flags. That, way once I get to know you I can suggest the best visa for you. And IF we both feel compatible, and IF I believe I really CAN bring someting to the party to help make your goals come true. I'll offer my services and tell you exactly what I can do to help. Step 2: Get Started. Background Info So we decided we are compatible and now full speed ahead to get your visa. First I send you via email a "get started kit". It includes questions for you to answer that will give me the detailed backround information that will answer the questions that will be asked by USCIS, the National Visa Center, and finally at the Consulate. I am going to ask you all the questions I anticipate for the entire process. Cause it is more efficient, you only have to do your "homework" once, AND because it gives me a chance to see the WHOLE picture. Cause if there are any issues, or red flags, I want to know about them as early as possible, so we can figure out early the best way to handle them. Step 3: VisaCoach Audit When I receive your response to the questions I an not going to act like a computer or robot just to paste in your answers. And say "hey we're done". Instead I am going to AUDIT and review each of your answers, to make sure we do not accidentally trigger alarm bells at immigration. I review your answers to make sure there are no inconsistency, illogic, omissions, or gaps. I'll go back to you (as needed) with questions on anything that I find needs clarification. I'll work back and forth with you and your spouse until we have a clean set of data. And then we move forward Step 4: Custom Personal Checklist After auditing and vetting your background details I know your situation very well. Using this knowledge I customize for you a detailed checklist

Russia Sends S-300 Patriot Missiles to Syria,Drawing a Line in The Sand for NATO

00:47
The Russian warships that arrived in Syrian territorial waters in recent days were reportedly carrying technical advisors who will assist the Syrian government in setting up an array of the super-advanced S-300 missiles. This is according to Syrian and Russian sources cited by the London-based Arabic Al Quds-Al Arabi which said that Moscow is seeing a Western attack on Syria as a "red line" which it will not tolerate in any way. The report said that Russia is maintaining their support for the Assad government in Syria, despite constantly growing Western pressure and amongst the puppet leaders that make up the Arab League. In addition to the S-300 missiles, the report states that Russia is also installing advanced radar systems in all of the critical Syrian industrial and military installations. Arutz Sheva reports that the S-300 system is regarded as one of the most powerful anti-aircraft missiles systems available. They also point out that the radar system is capable of tracking 100 targets simultaneously while engaging up to 12 separate targets. Deployment of the S-300 takes a mere five minutes and have a long life span with no maintenance required. The system will provide coverage of areas both north and south of Syria which would be able to detect troop or aircraft movements towards Syrian borders. The long-rage surface-to-air missiles were developed by Russia in 1960s-1970s in order to protect industrial and military bases from aircraft attacks and cruise missiles. This S-300 system will reportedly be used to "deflect a possible attack by NATO or the U.S. and EU," although the possibility of an Arab League-sponsored attack is considerable if recent reports are to be believed. This system can reportedly target much of Israel and the Turkish Incirlik military base which is utilized by NATO, which would likely be leveraged if a no-fly zone operation was conducted. The report claims that Russia was planning to sell the S-300 system to Iran but backed down after American and Israeli pressure. However, the report also claims that Iran paid for the system for Syria and Arutz Sheva alleges, "It is not known if some of the missiles have reached Iran as well," although that statement should obviously be taken with a large grain of salt. The stakes have been raised considerably as of late with the U.S. Embassy in Damascus urging all American citizens to "immediately" leave Syria and the Turkish ministry telling Turkish pilgrims to avoid traveling through Syria altogether. Furthermore, the French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe said that "humanitarian corridors or humanitarian zones" could be established in order to protect those supposedly under attack, according to the Financial Times. Juppe said that the issue would be further discussed by Foreign Ministers of European Union member nations when they meet next month, although it appears that preparations for such an operation are already being made. Juppe claimed that full scale military intervention was not on the table although his other statements indicate otherwise. "In response to a demand from the Syrian national council, we will examine, notably with our EU partners, the possibility of launching humanitarian initiatives to alleviate the considerable suffering of the (Syrian) population," Juppe said. Of course, as we have seen in Libya, any "humanitarian initiatives" that establish "humanitarian corridors or humanitarian zones" indeed require a full scale military intervention that will undoubtedly leave countless civilians dead. Even more importantly, any intervention whatsoever will spark the ire of the Russians and Iranians, likely causing a much larger conflict. One might argue that this has been the plan all along, to first enter Syria under humanitarian pretenses which would, as I have previously covered, cause the Iranians to strike back and thus give justification to the Western nations that have been pushing for an attack on Iran. If Iran attempts to help Assad defend himself against a foreign invasion, Israel would no longer need the smoking gun justification to launch an all-out assault on Iran and the United States would likely follow. This is truly a hellish scenario, given that Russia would come to the side of Syria and Iran, likely drawing in China, which has been goaded recently by the United States in the South China Sea dispute. I truly hope that all of this is a bunch of hype and that nothing will happen, as if this does unfold in the manner in which it is currently, the world will enter a new age of horrific war that will make previous world wars pale in comparison. DoD:Israelis visit to evaluate Marines' V-22 - V-22 Operation 19/7/11

04:23
Israeli Air Force looks at MV-22 capabilities 7/6/2011 By MCAS New River Public AffairsOffice, Marine Corps Air Station New River MARINE CORPS AIR STATION NEW RIVER, N.C. (July 6, 2011) — For the second time in two months, a team from the Israeli Air Force visited 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing units at Marine Corps Air Station New River to evaluate the Marine Corps' MV-22 Osprey, and aircraft that the Israelis, according to some reports, see as a possible platform for search and rescue operations, and for covert special operations. The first IAF visit, May 16-26, was conducted by Lt. Col. Nimrod Golan, a UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter pilot, and Lt. Col. Avi Carmeli, a CH-53 Sea Stallion helicopter pilot and Navy graduate test pilot, both with the Israeli Air Force. That was followed June 13-23 by a seven-man team led by Golan and Carmeli. "An invitation came from the Marines to the Israeli Air Force to explore this aircraft and though currently, there is no procurement process on the table, we were very happy to follow this invitation," said Golan. "We are looking at the aircraft, trying to understand how the Osprey can contribute to our operational requirements and also have an understanding of its implementation. In addition, this is a great opportunity to enhance our relationship and cooperation with the Marines." The Israeli pilots spent their first visit with Marines of Marine Medium Tiltrotor Training Squadron 204 gaining an overall familiarization of the Osprey and examining its capabilities related to reducing the risks to pilots, aircrews and passengers on the battlefield. The overall intent of the visit was to learn about MV-22 systems and performance, and to become "well oriented" with the aircraft. "In order to be prepared for our June visit, we had to get some basic knowledge and basic skills, which is what '204 gave us," said Golan. "We were exposed for the first time to this technology called tiltrotor, and not just exposed academically ... it was an amazing experience." Their second visit, with Marine Tiltrotor Test and Evaluation Squadron 22 and Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 365, "... was the core of the whole evaluation process," said Golan, as the Israelis looked more deeply into the aircraft's capabilities and maintenance process. "We conducted a variety of flights in order to operationally evaluate the aircraft. We got the tools the last time we were here," said Golan. "Now we are flying to learn to operate." After spending time in simulators, the visitors experienced the full capabilities of the aircraft with training flights that included familiarization, tactical approaches, confined area landings, low altitude tactics, formations and night flights with the goal of assessing the aircraft's potential value to the IAF. With only 10 hours of MV-22 flight time, one of the visiting CH-53 pilots, flying a VMM-365 Osprey, conducted aerial refueling with a KC-130J from Marine Aerial Refueler Transport Squadron 252, where he was rated as "on par with any other transition pilot." Perhaps most importantly, the visiting pilots experienced the MV-22's trademark features of speed, range and maneuverability - proven advantages over the helicopters that the Osprey has replaced. They learned, first hand, how the Osprey can keep its crews and passengers above the threat of ground fire during flight, and how its maneuverability, particularly its ability to rapidly accelerate and decelerate, reduces exposure to threats during approach and departure. As 2nd MAW Commanding General Maj. Gen. Jon Davis has been known to say, "By the time the bad guys know you're there, you're already gone. As with any military personnel exchange, other benefits were realized. Both visits were a learning experience for the seasoned Israeli pilots on how U.S. Marines operate, and for the Marines who worked with them. "We are not too different from each other, we think the same and understand each other very well," said Carmeli. "We came to agree on most topics and how to accomplish the missions." Golan added, "The Marines did a marvelous job with their hospitality and professionalism, it took a lot of effort and they are very good people here." http://www.marines.mil/unit/mcascherrypoint/Pages/IsraeliAirForcelooksatMV22capabilities.aspx

"Comfort Women": Truth, Acknowledgement and Healing, Part III

23:09
The Holocaust Memorial & Tolerance Center of Nassau County (HMTC) presented a program on April 9, 2016, in partnership with the House of Sharing, "'Comfort Women': Truth, Acknowledgement and Healing" about sexual slavery by the Japanese Military during WWII. Part III of the video series features testimony by Ms. Yi Ok-seon, an 89 year old Korean "Comfort Woman" Survivor. Ms. Yi Ok-seon was born in 1927, to a very poor family. She had to begin working at a very early age to help support her family and was never able to attend school. In 1942, she was abducted and sent to China as a sexual slave for the Japanese occupation forces. She was raped for three years. During her captivity she was frequently injected with an anti-syphilis drug which left her sterile. When she was moved to a military "comfort station" near East Yanji Airport, she met a Korean man who was being forced to work for the Japanese army. She and the Korean gentleman fell in love and married after liberation, but were soon separated when her husband was conscripted by the Chinese Army. Her husband never returned, so after ten years Ms. Ok-seon remarried. In 2000, Ms. Ok-seon returned to Korean and she settled in the House of Sharing, a residential home in South Korea for survivors of Japanese sexual slavery during WWII. She taught herself to read, became an ardent reader, a dedicated human rights activist and an educator of sexual slavery. Every week she protests with other Survivors in front of the Japanese embassy in Seoul, demanding official acknowledgement and restitution. The April 9 program examined similarities between the co-called “brothels” in Nazi concentration camps and the “brothels” created by the Japanese military during WWII

Angela Stanzel - Maritime Security: China's Dream -- Asia's Nightmare? - 06 Jun 2014

13:34
About the Speech: Along with political and economic reforms, Chinese President Xi Jinping's 'China Dream' policy also deals with security elements such as the modernisation of China's maritime capabilities. Yet the growth of China's influence in the region has seen tensions rise between China and neighbouring states such as Japan, Vietnam and the Philippines. Dr. Stanzel will examine the factors underpinning this issue, and consider what policy options the parties can adopt to achieve a peaceful resolution to the dispute. About the Speaker: Dr. Stanzel is Policy Fellow for the Asia and China Programme at the European Council on Foreign Relations. Before joining ECFR, Angela has worked for the BMW Foundation and the International Affairs Office of the Koerber Foundation in Berlin. Prior to that, she has worked in Brussels for the German Marshall Fund of the United States (Asia Programme) as well as in Beijing for the German Embassy (cultural section) and for several event and marketing firms.

Citizens speak out - 19 Jul 2011

06:33
Citizens speak out. The demand for true reforms that provide improved lives of greater dignity, respect and opportunity for all fellow countrypersons continues as people gather in nations that include Bahrain, Egypt, Georgia, Israel, Jordan, Libya, Pakistan, Palestine, Serbia, Sudan, Syria, Ukraine, United Kingdom and Yemen. UNITED KINGDOM - On Sunday, Scotland Yard chief Sir Paul Stephenson, Britain's most senior police official, resigned, followed on Monday by Deputy Commissioner John Yates, both stepping down over widespread criticism of how they handled the investigation into the now shut-down News of the World phone hacking scandal. Following their resignations, Prime Minister David Cameron announced he would shorten a trip to South Africa to return to the UK for an emergency meeting of Parliament on the matter. Meanwhile, with detectives saying that they have identified 3,700 potential phone hacking victims, the Independent Police Complaints Commission has been appointed to specifically probe the resigned officials as well as investigate police corruption associated with the phone hacking in the wake of allegations that police were paid to provide information to News of the World journalists. SERBIA - Citing lack of evidence, a Hungarian court on Monday found Nazi war crimes suspect Sándor Képíró, now 97 years of age, innocent of charges that he was involved in the 1942 killing of several thousand Jewish, Roma and Serbian people who perished in what became known as the Novi Sad massacre. UKRAINE & GEORGIA - On Monday, three members of the Ukrainian activist group Femen were attacked by a security guard as they gathered on the steps of the Georgian Embassy in Kiev to protest the arrest of three photographers in the Georgian capital Tbilisi. The Georgian embassy later apologized and said it had dismissed the guard. Meanwhile, in Georgia, a group of independent newspapers also made a statement about the arrests as they went to press without pictures, printing the word "Protest" in block letters in place of the photographs. ISRAEL & PALESTINE - Around 2,000 people, including Israelis and Palestinians, marched together on Friday, July 15 through the Arab neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah calling for the United Nations to recognize Palestine as an independent state based on 1967 borders. On Monday, various Palestine-based press reported that three Palestinians near their home on Monday were attacked by Israeli settlers with batons and knives, severely injuring two. Meanwhile, a report released by Israeli human rights group B'Tselem found that 835 Palestinian youths have been arrested by Israeli forces for stone throwing between 2005 and 2010. Saying that the Israeli military law applied to these Palestinian minors does not offer the same protection as Israeli and international law, the group also stated that of the 835 arrested, 93 percent have received jail time, with 19 of those incarcerated being 12- and 13-year-olds. EGYPT - Following a meeting with the Supreme Council of Armed Forces on Saturday, dozens of protesters in Cairo's Tahrir Square renewed a hunger strike begun on July 10, saying that the recent change in cabinet members is not the same as meaningful policy change, which they point out still has not occurred. PAKISTAN & UNITED STATES - Pakistan and UK-based human rights attorneys have launched legal proceedings against former US Central Intelligence Agency legal counsel John Rizzo on behalf of the Pakistani relatives of citizens killed by unmanned US drone air strikes, which have been conducted in Pakistan since 2004. During his time in office, Mr. Rizzo gave legal approval for the strikes. However, lawyers for the victims' families state the use of such weapons outside a declared combat zone is in fact illegal. BAHRAIN - US-based Human Rights Watch has called on Bahraini authorities to halt the prosecution of 48 medical doctors and nurses currently on trial in a closed-door military tribunal. They are also urging for a stop to the harassment of medical personnel as well as the removal of security forces from health care centers and fair trials for those accused of serious crimes. SUDAN - A confidential United Nations report obtained by the UK-based Guardian and published on Saturday states that in the conflict-stricken disputed border region between Sudan and newly-formed South Sudan, the Sudanese government has been engaging in daily aerial bombings of civilian areas and summary executions, with specific targeting of the dark-skinned people that has resulted in the disappearance or killing of at least 3,000 since the beginning of June. The report also states that the attacks have completely blocked the ability of the UN to fulfill its basic peacekeeping mission.

Madeleine Albright: "Fascism: A Warning" | Talks at Google

56:33
In Fascism: A Warning, former US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright draws on her experiences as a child in war-torn Europe and her distinguished career as a diplomat to provide a personal and urgent examination of Fascism in the twentieth century and how its legacy shapes today’s world. A Fascist, observes Madeleine Albright, “is someone who claims to speak for a whole nation or group, is utterly unconcerned with the rights of others, and is willing to use violence and whatever other means are necessary to achieve the goals he or she might have.” Fascism, as she shows, not only endured through the twentieth century but now presents a more virulent threat to peace and justice than at any time since the end of World War II. The momentum toward democracy that swept the world when the Berlin Wall fell has gone into reverse. In many countries, economic, technological, and cultural factors are weakening the political center and empowering the extremes of right and left. Contemporary leaders such as Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong-un are employing many of the tactics used by Fascists in the 1920s and 30s. Fascism: A Warning is a book for our times that is relevant to all times. Written by someone who has not only studied history but helped to shape it, this call to arms teaches us the lessons we must understand and the questions we must answer if we are to save ourselves from repeating the tragic errors of the past.
