We deal with two separate departments of the US government USCIS which is part of homeland security as well as the Department of State. They each have their own requirements forms and hurdles that must be overcome. Since your future "happy ever after" is at stake it is important, no, it is essential, that each step the carefully accomplished. That is why here at VisaCoach we have set up clear and well thought out procedures that we follow for each and every case. This way we know that every T is crossed and every I is dotted to ensure a visa approval. This is a much too important life-changing process to leave anything to chance. Step 1: Personal Consultation. Unlike attorneys and cheap computerized/robot type document preparers, I offer a very personal service. I get to know my couples well, and we work together as a team to accompish your goals. The truth is, getting a visa for your spouse is only a first step. After arrival, there's still more to do. There will be getting the green card demonstrating conditional permanent residency, then two years later, upgrading your spouse's status to unconditional permanent residency, then finally US Citizenship. Usually I work closely with a couple for all these steps and we are together as long as it takes, usually for about 5 to 6 years. To enjoy our good personal relationship that will last, I strongly believe that its best that we start off on the right foot, by getting to know which other first, and making sure we are a good match from the "get go". Thats why I invite you to first, speak with me directly on the telephone or on Skype. The is the "free eligibility consultation" I offer. I want to get to know you and the details of your courtship, marriage, and your goals, and your problems or red flags. That, way once I get to know you I can suggest the best visa for you. And IF we both feel compatible, and IF I believe I really CAN bring someting to the party to help make your goals come true. I'll offer my services and tell you exactly what I can do to help. Step 2: Get Started. Background Info So we decided we are compatible and now full speed ahead to get your visa. First I send you via email a "get started kit". It includes questions for you to answer that will give me the detailed backround information that will answer the questions that will be asked by USCIS, the National Visa Center, and finally at the Consulate. I am going to ask you all the questions I anticipate for the entire process. Cause it is more efficient, you only have to do your "homework" once, AND because it gives me a chance to see the WHOLE picture. Cause if there are any issues, or red flags, I want to know about them as early as possible, so we can figure out early the best way to handle them. Step 3: VisaCoach Audit When I receive your response to the questions I an not going to act like a computer or robot just to paste in your answers. And say "hey we're done". Instead I am going to AUDIT and review each of your answers, to make sure we do not accidentally trigger alarm bells at immigration. I review your answers to make sure there are no inconsistency, illogic, omissions, or gaps. I'll go back to you (as needed) with questions on anything that I find needs clarification. I'll work back and forth with you and your spouse until we have a clean set of data. And then we move forward Step 4: Custom Personal Checklist After auditing and vetting your background details I know your situation very well. Using this knowledge I customize for you a detailed checklist

Lourdes was only 18 when she says her world came crashing down around her. She had been working as a maid from the age of 14, contributing what little money she earned to her struggling mother and siblings. Then she found out she was pregnant. She was alone, cast aside by her family and the father of her child. When her son, Victor, was born, Lourdes pieced together work, trying to keep their little family of 2 afloat. She decided to start her own business selling empanadas and snacks. That’s when she took out her first business loan of just over $60 U.S. She set strict rules for herself to invest in her business and build savings. She grew the business and continued to take and repay bigger and bigger loans, eventually receiving a $975 loan funded on Kiva by 33 lenders located all over the world, from Norway to Australia. Lourdes used that money to buy more stock and a refrigerator, building the business to the point that she was able to move into a new, bigger shop. This one had a secure gate to prevent robberies and an attached home for her family. Why we do what we do at Kiva: We envision a world where all people - even in the most remote areas of the globe - hold the power to create opportunity for themselves and others. We believe providing safe, affordable access to capital to those in need helps people create better lives for themselves and their families. How we do it: Making a loan on Kiva is so simple that you may not realize how much work goes on behind the scenes. Kiva works with microfinance institutions on five continents to provide loans to people without access to traditional banking systems. One hundred percent of your loan is sent to these microfinance institutions, which we call Field Partners, who administer the loans in the field. Kiva relies on a world wide network of over 450 volunteers who work with our Field Partners, edit and translate borrower stories, and ensure the smooth operation of countless other Kiva programs. 100% of every dollar you lend on Kiva goes directly towards funding loans; Kiva does not take a cut. Furthermore, Kiva does not charge interest to our Field Partners, who administer the loans. Kiva is primarily funded through the support of lenders making optional donations. We also raise funds through grants, corporate sponsors, and foundations. We are incredibly thankful for the support that has enabled us to do the work that has touched the lives of so many people. http://www.kiva.org/lend https://www.facebook.com/kiva https://twitter.com/kiva https://medium.com/@Kiva/lourdes-dream-to-show-the-world-a-woman-s-worth-978664cb596#.o41q6mh5l Voiceover by Martita: https://www.thevoicecrew.com/mycrewfile.php?id=1012

At a time like this where there are terrorists on the loose, you are always looking for additional security from any direction you can get it, whether it's from our regional security team or our DS teams or from the local host country. But when we have asked for help we have received it and in my view the Saudis are doing a good job at protecting us in spite of the occurrence that occurred at the consulate yesterday." 13. News conference STORYLINE: The attack on the US consulate on Monday that left nine people dead helped push oil prices higher on Tuesday and shook Saudi Arabia's confidence that it is winning the "war on terror" in its own backyard. The Monday assault on the American consulate in downtown Jiddah was the worst attack since May. Five consulate employees, all non-American, were killed and another four were injured. Three of the five attackers died in the gun battle. A fourth died of his wounds and a fifth was captured wounded. The Interior Ministry said on Tuesday that four of the five assailants were Saudis. The US Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, James Oberwetter held a news conference to explain the events surrounding the attack. He said Saudi authorities were doing a good job of protecting Americans based in the country. A militant web site showed a statement allegedly from Al-Qaida claiming responsibility, saying the operation had been dubbed "the blessed Fallujah battle," referring to the former insurgent stronghold in Iraq invaded last month by US troops. It said Monday's attack was carried out by the "unit of the martyr Abu Anas al Shami," who was a spiritual adviser to Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the predominant militant in Iraq. There was no way to confirm the claim. We are incredibly thankful for the support that has enabled us to do the work that has touched the lives of so many people. http://www.kiva.org/lend https://www.facebook.com/kiva https://twitter.com/kiva https://www.instagram.com/kiva_microloans

"My dream was always to become a doctor. And my dream was also to help the poor people of the Philippines. Maybe I overachieved my dream." - Dr. Belino Iway -- Doctors Olivia & Belino Iway came to the United States in 1974 from the Philippines on student-visas, carrying $200 in their pockets and three young children to care for. After Belino completed his medical residency in New York City, where their fourth child was born, the family was invited to move to Elkhart, KS to staff the small town’s fledgling hospital. Over a career of 30 years in that community, the Drs. Iway built the hospital into it’s present capacity of several hundred employees, with specialized units that draw in patients from many of the larger surrounding communities. We joined Iway’s at a house of theirs in the Kansas City metro while they were in town for a fundraising gala two of their daughters organized. The Iway’s first-born, Dr. Yvonne Spurlock, lives in the Kansas City metro with her husband, Dr. Daniel Spurlock, and their three daughters Sophia, Alexa, and Mia. Their second daughter, Dr. Christine Nedeau also lives in the KC area with her husband Joel and their children Cara & Jack and nephew Matthew Iway. Joel’s mother, Jane Nedeau, lives with them and helps care for the Nedeau, Iway, and Spurlock children. Belino and Olivia’s third child, Dr. Edsel Iway (Matthew’s father), was also in town with his wife, Dr. BiAnn Iway, and their son Zachary. The youngest of the four Iway children, Steph, and her husband Tom Nichols, were not able to join for the weekend’s conversation and gala. In the video above, the Iway family discusses the reasons that they pursued jobs in the medical field and how they use that training to give back to their home country. -- Your Fellow Americans is a documentary web series exploring race, immigration and the American Dream. Rice Dragon is a weeding tool innovated by women farmers to reduce weeds in the rice paddy. In Cambodia, a majority of small-scale farmers has a total of a hectare of rice paddy or less. Using traditional method they cannot make many yields or benefits to support their family. But if they practice SRI and use Niek Srer (Rice Dragon), they can increase their products twice or even more. Weed management is a key challenge in rice farming in Cambodia. Traditionally, famers largely women have to bend over for days to remove weeds by hand from their fields. This is very exhausting, time-consuming, and ineffective. Seeing a potential increase in yields if the farmers use Niek Srer for cultivation, Oxfam has supported a marketing campaign to raise awareness of the product and get farmers to use it. Many poor farmers are very interested in Niek Srer after many marketing campaign has reached their villages as well as other villages across the country. Some farmers are so happy when Niek Srer is demonstrated in the rice field during the marketing campaign because they can see it makes the soil aerating and weed removing. So far, Niek Srer has been used by more 250 farmers across the country. Many of the users have claimed that if used properly, this tool can increase their yields by up to one tonne per hectare. This means the potential increase in the value of smallholder crops is very high, and this income can improve their livelihood and support the family needs. The only challenge for Niek Srer is farmers are required to change their traditional rice farming habit to cultivate rice using a method called System of Rice Intensification or SRI. Police in India often bypass arrest procedures and torture suspects in custody to death. At least 591 people died in police custody in India between 2010 and 2015, according to official data. One of these people, was Agnelo Valdaris, who died in police custody in 2014. Instead of holding police responsible to account, authorities have stalled reforms needed to build a more rights-respecting force.

A changing climate and rapidly growing exposure to disaster risk presents the world with an unprecedented challenge. For developing countries, both less able to cope with the impact and more likely to be affected, the challenge is particularly severe. These countries face mounting losses from a range of natural hazards, from earthquakes and tsunamis through to severe flooding, storms and drought. We face the threat of decades of development progress being rolled back and poverty becoming entrenched. Meanwhile, climate change cuts across society, from agriculture to health, energy to water resources. UNDP’s work is to integrate issues of climate, disaster risk and energy at country level, and focus on building resilience and ensuring that development remains risk-informed and sustainable.

http://www.visacoach.com/k1-visa-timeline.html How long does it take to get a K1 Fiance visa? In 2018 most cases typically take 7 to 9 months on average from the time USCIS receives the I-129F fiance visa application until the K-1 visa is embossed onto the foreign fiancee’s passport. Today's question is: How long does it take to get a K1 Fiance visa? As of January 2018, the answer is 7 to 9 months on average. 5 - 7 months USCIS 1/2 month NVC 1 - 2 months Consulate I regularly get calls from people saying those numbers must be wrong, because they found a website or person who promised a MUCH shorter processing time so whats their secret? Well the secret is they are either telling you what "you want to hear" so they can get your money, or just referring to one step of the process, not combining and adding up ALL the steps from initial submission of your petition, to visa embossed onto your fiancee's passport When I give time estimates I always use what is relevant to the couple, and that is starting from the day USCIS receives the petition, ending on the day your foreign fiancee gets the visa. Two separate departments of the US government are involved. USCIS (homeland security) and the Department of State. From Mid 2017 through to 2018 Homeland Security recently is getting their job done relatively slowly, currently taking 5 to 7 months. (this compares to processing times of a rapid 2 to 3 months just a year ago, and well under the 5 month Policy standard they have set for themselves. Why is USCIS now taking 2 to 3 times as long? I call this the Trump Effect. President Trump after taking office in January 2017 has mandated that USCIS vigorously enforce and administer immigration laws, take no short cuts. The goal is to restrict Legal immigration while stopping illegal immigration. "We have to get much tougher, much smarter, and less politically correct," Trump said. What this means is that they are very closely examining and scrutinizing all cases looking for reasons to deny. In addition cases that regularly had their interviews waived now specifically there is an Executive order that no interviews regardless of the strength of their evidences, may be waived. The result is USCIS has more work to do, has more bases to touch in the processing of EACH case. And while President Trump has promised to hire more staff to handle the increased load, so far no new staff has been hired, but the workload has increased. This is the Trump Effect. More work, with same staff. The result is that USCIS processing times for fiance visas have stretched to take at least 5 to 7 months. And it is possible this may even get worse, depending on how many new steps USCIS is asked to take, such as "extreme vetting" and "social media data mining" that are new labor intensive steps that have been proposed but not implemented yet. USCIS Processing includes a backround check by the FBI In addition to the general slow down due to the "Trump Effect" what also affects how long it takes for USCIS to approve your case is a function of how complete your petition is, how busy the processing center is, how current your FBI file is, and a bit of luck. The most obvious source of added delay is caused by incomplete and sloppy petitions. When USCIS finds a problem, processing grinds to a halt, and it is stopped until the problem is fixed. Sometimes the errors are so big that they don't bother asking for corrections and simply deny a case outright. Once USCIS finishes their part, the case is passed to the US Department of State. The Department of State has a processing center in New Hampshire, called the National Visa Center or NVC. NVC basically assigns a new Department of State case number, then forwards the file on to the American Consulate reponsible to issue the visa. Once NVC has completed their actions, a few weeks later the case file physically arrives at the consulate assigned to process your Fiancee. Within a few weeks, the consulate contacts your Fiancee directly with instructions on booking the interview, attending the medical and final document checklists. Some consulates are busier, more efficient, and or work faster than others. In Philippines the process is very efficient and fast. Interviews can be booked by the fiancee about a month later. In Vietnam and China it may be 2 to 3 months later before the consulate advises the interview can be scheduled. The Approval/Denial decision is made during the interview. Then in about 2 weeks the passport with its new K1 visa is returned. Just as in medicine commercials on TV. "Your results may vary". Some of my clients get their visas faster, some slower. If in 2018 you anticipate 7 to 9 months average K1 Fiance Visa processing time, you won't be far off.

Various of nails and needles removed from woman 4. Woman being wheeled out on operating table STORYLINE Doctors removed 13 nails and five needles from a Sri Lankan maid who claims the couple she worked for in Saudi Arabia hammered them into her body. LG Ariyawathi, who was hospitalised with severe pain after returning on Saturday from Saudi Arabia, has alleged the family she worked for punished her by heating the nails and needles before sticking them into her. X-rays showed that she had 24 nails and needles in her body, said Dr Keerthi Satharasinghe of Kamburupitiya hospital, about 100 miles (160 kilometres) from the capital, Colombo. The nails ranged in length from one to two inches (2.5 to 5 centimetres) while the needles were about one inch (2.5 centimetres) long. They were removed from her legs and forehead. The procedure took three hours Doctors said six more needles in her hands could not be removed because the operation might damage her nerves and arteries, but that they would not be harmful to her. Since being hospitalised, Ariyawathi, 49, has described the abuse allegedly meted out by her employers. "They did not allow me even to rest. The woman at the house had heated the nails and then the man inserted them into my body," Ariyawathi was quoted as saying by the Lakbima newspaper. She told the newspaper that she went to Saudi Arabia in March but was paid only two months' salary, with her employer withholding the rest to buy an air ticket to send her home. About 1.5 (m) million Sri Lankans work abroad, many as maids or drivers, to earn more than they can in their own impoverished country. Nearly 400,000 work in Saudi Arabia alone. Sri Lanka's Foreign Employment Bureau said Ariyawathi had been too afraid to complain about the abuse to Saudi authorities, fearing that her employers might not let her return home. Deputy Minister of Economic Development Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena said the government would report the matter to the Saudi government and provide her compensation. Saudi officials did not respond to requests for comment. A labour counsellor at the Sri Lankan Embassy in Riyadh, said the embassy had requested a meeting with Saudi officials.
