Top 10 Countries With The LARGEST Gold Reserves!

10:12
Check out these 10 countries with the largest gold reserves in the world! This top 10 list features some of the richest and wealthiest countries on earth that have tons of gold bars stacked up somewhere! Subscribe For New Videos! http://goo.gl/UIzLeB Watch our "SURPRISING And Interesting Facts About Money!" video here: https://youtu.be/ONpChSPqVc4 Watch our "Most AMAZING Discoveries With A Metal Detector!" video here: https://youtu.be/45JveYKafVo Watch our "Most EXPENSIVE Diamonds In The World!" video here: https://youtu.be/RcZATf3Lmb0 10.) India According to the World Gold Council, the Bank of India currently holds 557.7 tons of gold. It is one of the largest stores of gold in the world! This makes up 9.9 % of the country’s total foreign reserve. Foreign exchange reserves is money or other assets held by a nation’s central bank so they can back the national currency. India, home to 1.25 billion people, is the number one largest consumer of the precious metal. Furthermore, India is one of the most reliable drivers of global demand. For example, India’s festival and wedding season, which runs from October to December, has historically been a major market for gold. And probably, one of the most interesting facts about India and gold is that India rarely invests much in gold. This is because as a country, India operates under the belief that buying gold leads to a deficit. And their belief must be proving right as things also seem to be improving for India. For instance, if you look at the last few years, India has increased its gold reserves from 557.74 to 557.77. While this might not seem like a lot, India is also at its highest point in history! In addition to what the country holds, Indian households which are considered the world’s largest hoarders of gold, hold a record 23,000-24,000 tons, which is worth about $800 billion. 9.) Netherlands In the past few years, the Netherlands has held 52% of its foreign reserve in gold. The Netherlands has a reported 612.45 tons. In 2016 it was reported that the bank was looking for a place to store all its gold because they were going to renovate the vaults and needed to moving it. The Dutch central bank is planning to move the country’s gold reserves from the center of Amsterdam to a new complex called the Cash Center. Like most countries, Dutch gold is also held in banks around the world to reduce risk. Security measures to guard the gold 24/7 have become a problem in Amsterdam. 189,000 kilos of gold will be moved at the beginning of 2022. Maybe this is one reason that over the last decade and a half, the Netherlands was selling off tons of gold in order to reduce its reserve. However, there weren’t that many buyers out there and they sold less than the country wanted. More recently the country has had less ambition to sell gold. Currently, the country holds the same amount of tons, 612.45 that they have over the last few years. However, the country has increased its percentage of foreign reserves to 61.2 %. 8.) Japan Japan is another country which had been increasing its gold reserves since the 1960’s. Their official gold holdings were reported at 765.2 tons. About 2.4% of Japan’s gold today is in foreign reserve. Historically, Japan has always held a bit more gold than other countries. This was true until 2011, when they began to sell some of their reserve in order to pump money into the economy after the tsunami and the following Fukushima nuclear disaster. But even with selling, Japan’s central bank has been one of the most aggressive practitioners of quantitative easing. For example, in January of 2016, it lowered interest rates below zero, which has helped fuel demand in gold around the world. 7.) Switzerland Prior to 1997, Switzerland was steadily building its gold reserves. In 1997, the decision was made to sell some of those reserves to bolster the Swiss currency and diversify the foreign reserves. The percent of foreign reserves in Switzerland is currently 6.7 %. Switzerland actually has the world’s largest reserves of gold per capita and currently has reported 1,040 tons. Over time, many citizens in the country started to feel like the bank was getting rid of too much gold. They then banded together with the “Save the Swiss” movement. However, once everyone was able to vote in 2014, the vote came to a no, and gold continued to be sold. During World War II, Switzerland became the center of the gold trade in Europe, making transactions with both the Allies and Axis powers. Today, much of its gold trading is done with Hong Kong and China. Around last year, the Swiss National Bank made a $5.9 billion profit, reportedly from its gold holdings. Genesee and Wyoming Australia: Genesee and Wyoming Australia is an Australian rail freight operator based in Adelaide, South Australia. It is a 100 percent owned subsidiary of Genesee and Wyoming Inc based in the USA, and was formed in June 2006 to run the South Australian operations of the Australian Railroad Group (ARG) joint venture between Genesee and Wyoming Inc. and Wesfarmers following the dissolving of that joint venture (which also resulted in the Western Australian operations being acquired by QR National which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Queensland Rail). GWA operates trains on broad (1600 mm), narrow (1067 mm) and standard (1435 mm) gauges throughout South Australia, along with standard gauge freight trains in the Northern Territory for Freightlink as well as into Victoria and southern New South Wales. The Southern Sprit: The Southern Spirit explores the sights and delights of Australia's southeast. From Adelaide, Australia's wine capital and gateway to the Outback to the sophisticated southern city of Melbourne for a leisurely journey of up to 5 nights and 6 days to the final destination in sub-tropical Brisbane. The Ghan: The Ghan is a passenger train operating between Adelaide, Alice Springs, and Darwin on the Adelaide-Darwin railway in Australia. Operated by Great Southern Railway and with locomotives provided by Pacific National, the entire journey takes 48 hours to travel the 2,979 kilometres (1,852 miles) and around half that (24 hours) to the mid-point at Alice Springs. The service's name is an abbreviated version of its previous nickname The Afghan Express, unofficially bestowed on the "express passenger" service of the Commonwealth Railways in 1923, by one of its crews

Australian trains 63 - Whiteman park tram ride, Perth 06/07/2017

07:11
A ride on the tram in Whiteman park, north Perth Perth Electric Tramway society (PETS) tram number 329, formerly from Melbourne the tram runs through Whiteman Park, which is also home to a transport museum, car museum, tractor museum, wildlife sanctuary and also a miniature railway unfortunately the 'historic' miniature railway was running a knockoff Thomas the tank petrol steam engine and we decided we wouldn't bother with that as none of our party was a 6 year old, which was a shame as according to their website they have some nice heritage locos that they use. :-( we were disappointed but there we go, we had this nice tram ride instead what also is a shame, that the tram society does not display any of its other trams or workshops for people to view what is happening, so even though there are lots of other trams, we could only look at this one find the tramway museum here www.pets.org.au

The camp was originally set up for the army at the commencement of the Second World War, then converted to a POW camp, holding up to 200 prisoners. There remains remnant foundations of a pump house and washhouse/ablution block, remnants of a drainage system and a fireplace chimney of the former mess hall. Gleneagle Loc 32°17′17″S 116°11′31″E Gleneagle or Glen Eagle is a locality in Western Australia. The locality is south east of the state capital, Perth, close to Jarrahdale on the Albany Highway [1] It now remains as a rest stop for drivers. The townsite functioned as a settlement for forest workers and their families. It was a locality that was seriously affected by the 1961 Jarrahdale fires. The settlement operated its own school. Remnants of the townsite including roads and central water tower remain, but the houses have been removed by the government agency upon closure. The name is also of a significant mining company in Western Australia but the locality and company have no direct correlation.

Old Photographs Bonnyrigg Midlothian Scotland

01:25
Tour Scotland wee video of old photographs of Bonnyrigg, a small ex mining town in Midlothian, located eight miles South East of Edinburgh city centre. In 1766 a village called Bannockrigg, is shown on maps, then in 1815, the spelling changes to Bannocrig. This spelling remains until 1854, when for some unknown reason the spelling changes to the now familiar Bonnyrigg. The first church in Bonnyrigg was built in 1845 and its first minister was Thomas Pitcairn. In 1865 the villages of Bonnyrigg, Red Row, Polton Street, Hillhead and Broomieknowe combined to form the burgh of Bonnyrigg. Bonnyrigg was a mining village until the 1920s and had a carpet factory that was demolished in 1994. The village centre mostly dates from the 19th Century. Bonnyrigg railway station was a railway station that served the town of Bonnyrigg, Midlothian, Scotland from 1855 to 1965 on the Peebles Railway. Of interest to folks with ancestry, genealogy or Scottish Family Roots in Scotland who may wish to visit one day.

Report on Goldsworthy township closure and the move to Shay Gap.

02:00
Report on Goldsworthy township closure and the move to Shay Gap. Goldsworthy (named after the geographical feature Mount Goldsworthy) is a former mining town in Western Australia east of Port Hedland and located in the Shire of East Pilbara. It was the first iron ore mine in the Pilbara Region of Western Australia. 700 people lived in 200 houses at Goldsworthy at its peak. The mine at Goldsworthy was closed on 22 December 1982 and mining operations ceased at Shay Gap in 1993. The town was abandoned in 1992. Upon closure, all buildings were removed, all vegetation not indigenous to the local area was burnt and the roads torn up. This was done in accordance with the government's policy of regrowth to avoid the occurrence of ghost towns. Shay Gap was an iron ore mining town in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, 1,574 kilometres (978 mi) north northeast of Perth and 188 kilometres (117 mi) east of Port Hedland. Shay Gap was a company town, developed by Goldsworthy Mining Limited and designed by Lawrence Howroyd in the 1960s to mine the nearby iron ore deposits. It was formally gazetted as a town in 1972.

Cardenden was named in 1848 by the Edinburgh and Northern Railway for its new railway station. Areas of Cardenden include Auchterderran, Bowhill, Dundonald, the Jamphlars, New Carden and Woodend. It is reported that last duel on Scottish soil took place in a field at Cardenbarns to the south of Cardenden. Morgan was killed by wounds received from a pistol ball. Landale was tried and subsequently cleared of his murder at the Sheriff Court in Perth, Perthshire.
