Well, One way of ensuring security can be use of CRYPTOGRAPHY! Cryptography is a field of network security which deals with hiding "real" infromation when it is under transmission between the two parties. Usually, the real information is transformed or hidden into another message and transmitted over the network. This transformed message in itself will make no sense even if any hacker gets hold of this information. When it reaches the destination, the receipent will know a method to de-transform the garbage message into the original information which the sender had sent.method of transforming message at sender's side and de transforming at reciever's side forms the basic model of Cryptography. b) Encryption and Decryption (3:57):http://youtu.be/BEb_AnPWPwY?t=3m57s First, the information to be transmitted, called as plain text(or message) is fed to an Encryption system. The Encyrption system uses a key to convert the plain text to encyrpted form which looks like garbage value. This is also called as cipher text. A corresponding key is used at the other end to decrypt the cipher text back to original message. When we say a key, it actually means a piece of string value which is fed to encyprtion and decryption algorithms along with the text for transformation. When the message reaches the destination, this system at the other end decrypts the cipher text into original message with the help of the key. This is called as Decryption System. The output of the Decryption System is the intended message. Depending on how the keys are shared, we can classify crytography as symmetric and asymmetric. If the keys used by both parties are same, then it is called symmetric key cryptography, or private key cryptography. Шифрование позволяет обеспечить конфиденциальность, сохраняя информацию в тайне от того, кому она не предназначена. ➤ Для удобства участникам передачи зашифрованного сообщения дают следующие имена: Алиса — отправитель, Боб — получатель, Ева — пассивный перехватчик, Меллори (Man-in-the-middle) — активный перехватчик, может не только перехватывать передачу, но и подменять содержимое. ➤ Криптография не занимается: защитой от обмана, подкупа или шантажа законных абонентов, кражи #ключей и других угроз информации, возникающих в защищенных системах передачи #данных. ➤ Криптография — одна из старейших наук, её #история насчитывает несколько тысяч лет. Ещё в древнем Риме Гай Юлий Цезарь, который совершенно не доверял гонцам, опасаясь что те прочтут его письма, прибегал к #шифрам. Для того, чтобы избежать вероятности того, что гонец всё же осмелится и захочет прочесть послание Цезаря, он, отправляя письма генералам, менял каждую букву на D, каждую B на E, и так далее. But in the wake of Paris and San Bernardino, there is increasing pressure from law enforcement and policy makers, both here and abroad, to mandate so-called backdoors in encryption products. In this presentation, I will discuss in brief the history of the first Crypto Wars, and the state of the law coming into 2016. I will then discuss what happened in the fight between Apple and the FBI in San Bernardino and the current proposals to weaken or ban encryption, covering proposed and recently enacted laws in New York, California, Australia, India, and the UK. Finally, I will discuss possible realistic outcomes to the Second Crypto Wars, and give my predictions on what the State of the Law will be at the end of 2016. Nate Cardozo is a Senior Staff Attorney on the Electronic Frontier Foundation’s digital civil liberties team. In addition to his focus on free speech and privacy litigation, Nate works on EFF’s cryptography policy and the Coders’ Rights Project. Lately, several backdoors in cryptographic constructions, protocols and implementations have been surfacing in the wild: Dual-EC in RSA's B-Safe product, a modified Dual-EC in Juniper's operating system ScreenOS and a non-prime modulus in the open-source tool socat. Many papers have already discussed the fragility of cryptographic constructions not using nothing-up-my-sleeve numbers, as well as how such numbers can be safely picked. However, the question of how to introduce a backdoor in an already secure, safe and easy to audit implementation has so far rarely been researched (in the public). BIO: David Wong (Twitter: @lyon01_david) is a Security Consultant at the Cryptography Services team of NCC Group. He has been working in Security for over a year now, being part of several publicly funded open source audits such as the OpenSSL and the Let's Encrypt ones. We conduct analysis and research on FOSS and other widely software, and provide highly specialized technical assistance, analysis and research on free and open source software. This talk will present how we audited TrueCrypt, detailing both the Phase I security assessment, and the Phase II cryptanalysis. Looking forward, in light of GotoFail and HeartBleed, we will discuss future plans for our next audit projects of other open source critical infrastructure. Kenneth White is a co-founder of the CBX Group, and formerly principal scientist and senior security R&D engineer at Social & Scientific Systems. His work focuses on cloud security, machine learning, and distributed database architecture. At SSS, White led the Biomedical Informatics team that designed and runs the operations center for the largest clinical trial network in the world, with research centers in over 100 countries. Together with Matthew Green, White co-founded the TrueCrypt audit project, a community-driven initiative to conduct the first comprehensive cryptanalysis and public security audit of the widely used TrueCrypt encryption software. White holds a MEd from Harvard and is a PhD candidate in neuroscience and cognitive science, with research focusing on expert systems, real-time classification and machine learning. He is a technical reviewer for the Software Engineering Institute, and publishes and speaks frequently on computational neuroscience, signal processing, and security engineering. Data in use is an information technology term referring to active data which is stored in a non-persistent digital state typically in computer random access memory (RAM), CPU caches, or CPU registers. Data in use is used as a complement to the terms data in transit and data at rest which together define the three states of digital data. While data in use most commonly refers to data in computer memory, some Cloud Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) providers refer to data in use as any data currently being processed by applications. Because of its nature, Data in Use is of increasing concern to businesses, government agencies and other institutions. Data in use, or memory, can contain sensitive data including digital certificates, encryption keys, intellectual property (software algorithms, design data), and personally identifiable information. Compromising data in use enables access to encrypted data at rest and data in motion. For example, someone with access to random access memory can parse that memory to locate the encryption key for data at rest. Once they have obtained that encryption key, they can decrypt encrypted data at rest. Threats to data in use can come in the form of cold boot attacks, malicious hardware devices, and bootkits. Encryption, which prevents data visibility in the event of its unauthorized access or theft, is commonly used to protect Data in Motion and Data at Rest and increasingly recognized as an optimal method for protecting Data in Use. There have been multiple projects to encrypt memory. Microsoft Xbox systems are designed to provide memory encryption and the company PrivateCore presently has a commercial software product vCage to provide attestation along with full memory encryption for x86 servers. Several papers have been published highlighting the availability of security-enhanced x86 and ARM commodity processors. In that work, an ARM Cortex A8 processor is used as the substrate on which a full memory encryption solution is built. Process segments (for example, stack, code or heap) can be encrypted individually or in composition. This work marks the first full memory encryption implementation on a mobile general-purpose commodity processor. The system provides both confidentiality and integrity protections of code and data which are encrypted everywhere outside the CPU boundary. Operating system kernel patches such as TRESOR and Loop-Amnesia modify the operating system so that CPU registers can be used to store encryption keys and avoid holding encryption keys in RAM. While this approach is not general purpose and does not protect all data in use, it does protect against cold boot attacks. Encryption keys are held inside the CPU rather than in RAM so that data at rest encryption keys are protected against attacks that might compromise encryption keys in memory. Enclaves enable an “enclave” to be secured with encryption in RAM so that enclave data is encrypted while in RAM but available as clear text inside the CPU and CPU cache. Intel Corporation has introduced the concept of “enclaves” as part of its Software Guard Extensions. Intel revealed an architecture combining software and CPU hardware in technical papers published in 2013. Several cryptographic tools, including secure multi-party computation and homomorphic encryption, allow for the private computation of data on untrusted systems. Data in use could be operated upon while encrypted and never exposed to the system doing the processing.

Group key agreement (GKA) protocols enable a group of members to negotiate a common encryption key via open networks so that only the group members can decrypt the ciphertexts encrypted under the shared encryption key, but a sender cannot exclude any particular member from decrypting the ciphertexts. In this paper, we bridge these two notions with a hybrid primitive referred to as contributory broadcast encryption (ConBE). In this new primitive, a group of members negotiate a common public encryption key while each member holds a decryption key. A sender seeing the public group encryption key can limit the decryption to a subset of members of his choice. Following this model, we propose a ConBE scheme with short ciphertexts. The scheme is proven to be fully collusion-resistant under the decision n-Bilinear Diffie-Hellman Exponentiation (BDHE) assumption in the standard model. Of independent interest, we present a new BE scheme that is aggregatable. The aggregatability property is shown to be useful to construct advanced protocols.
