ENBA104- BESTINDEPTHSERIES...TRUTH VS HYPE- GOA: LAND MINES

04:48
TRUTH vs HYPE: Anchored and presented by Sreenivasan Jain, Truth vs Hype is the only major news show that travels every week to ground zero to answer the questions that lie at the heart of every big story of our time -- from politics, to corruption, to conflict zones. Shot and edited as a cutting edge news documentary, each episode is backed by solid research, hard facts and a clear-eyed sifting through evidence. EPISODE- Goa: Land Mines The state of Goa emerged as the latest epicenter of links between political corruption and mining violations, drawing comparisons with Bellary (Karnataka, India), and speculation that its beleaguered Chief Minister Digambar Kamat could go the way of Mr. Yeddyurappa. That may well turn out to be the case, but it means understanding the roots of the current crisis - which lie in Goa's distinct history of mining iron ore, and in the extraordinary political interest in mining, interest so deep that it has profoundly compromised the state's official machinery meant to monitor, and if needed act against violations.

Week-long bandh in Goa's mining belt from August 21

13:41
Goa Mining People's Front today said it would hold a week-long bandh in Goa's mining belt, seeking immediate resumption of mining in the state. Mining has been stayed by the Supreme Court, following PILs about rampant illegal mining in the state. GMPF today held a meeting here and resolved to hold successive bandhs from August 21 to August 28. Each day, there will be a bandh in one tehsil. The entire agitation will be peaceful," GMPF leader Christopher Fonseca told reporters in Panaji after the meeting. A rally will be held in Panaji on August 29, to demand resumption of mining immediately after Ganesh Chaturthi festival which starts on September 9. "It's for almost one year that the mining has been stopped due to Supreme Court order forcing the people to lead a hand to mouth existence. 25 per cent of people in the state are dependent on mining," Mr Fonseca said. Neither the Central government nor the state government was serious about the issue, he alleged. The future course of action would be announced at the August 29 public rally, he said.

The BIGGEST SNAKE Ever ! TITANOBOA

08:03
We know the anacondas, boas, pythons, but have you heard about the Titanoboa? It is the queen of snakes and is also the largest ever known. Correction: The titanoboa weighed 1.13 tons. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- DESCRIPTION: Its scientific name is Titanoboa Cerrejonensis, because it was discovered in the Cerrejón coal mines, located in the State of La Guajira, in Colombia. In this place, the geologist Henry Garcia found a strange fossil in 1994. He labeled it a "petrified branch" and stored it in a counter in the mine's facilities. The discovery was not free of challenges. To know what the titanoboa was feeding on and what its true size was, the head was needed. Until then, mining activity had helped the discovery of new species. While more layers of land miners extracted, more species were found and they seemed to be increasingly older. The problem was that this time the miners had announced that they were going to start digging in lower strata and that all the land from the time of the titanoboa would be removed, losing any trace of it. The paleontologists had to hurry. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- About Us: Trend Max is an education and entertainment channel dedicated to creating interesting Tops and Lists.
