Today, The Committee for the Defense of Mining, invited by the Platform escontra repression and llibertaes them, and inviting the group "Women struggle coal" also attended, went to act in solidarity with the miners killed in South Africa in the Plaza del Teatro Campoamor in Oviedo. What I could not speak there technical problems throat I say here (I could not keep saying everything I had prepared, I cut the vocals) ... Do we realize the true extent of this event? Do we really counts? They were shot to death with machetes or even by some accounts a number of miners that varies between 35 and 40, for the sake of protesting their miserable conditions in a platinum mine. Have we read or heard any statement of condemnation of this fact by the Spanish gonierno, demanding responsibilities? NOT. NOT. Does the European Union has started some kind of invest ... igación about it? NOT. Is the United States talked about making some kind of economic blockade regime of South Africa? NOT. Does the UN has even EXPRESSED rejection or discomfort? NOOOOO. Does that mean that all international organizations it look good? Honestly, I think some of those in power to see the sad and bitter news, he got a smile from ear to ear and thought that could be done here, since no international body will condemn or embargarme or therefore block me. Total Impunity? Companies? Total Impunity? Governments in human rights? Just some arguments worth otherwise chaotic and totally subjective to Cuba or North Korea? London, meanwhile, threatens to rob the Ecuadorian embassy with complete and utter contempt for international law and the United States continues to fund the raids on Palestinian territory by Israel ... The Sahara has daily violations of international treaties in its territory by the dictatorial regime of Morocco ... and so goes the world. Meanwhile, miners, keep fighting, now, worldwide. Thanks and forgive the extension
International Declaration SUDAFRIACANOS solidarity with the miners.
From ... Brazil, and the presence there of a representation of the current Association d'Left (CSI), make this public repudiation STATEMENT THE SLAUGHTER IN SOUTH AFRICA:
This Thursday, August 16th, the South African police a slaughter perpetrated against striking miners in the platinum mine in the city of Marikana, South Africa. This mine belongs to Lonmin, a British multinational that is the third largest producer of platinum in the world.
Miners Marikana city are on strike for over a week. The strike affects about 3,000 workers fighting for better wages and working conditions. At the time of slaughter, a protest gathered around 3000 workers, who camped at the mine strike. At the same time, police had broad support of armored vehicles, helicopters against miners who tried to resist the police crackdown that culminated in a slaughter, in which more than 30 miners were killed.
The slaughter is being compared with those that occurred at the time of the apartheid regime in South Africa in the 90s of last century. This shows that apartheid did not end. South African society is still deeply divided between white racist - the elite - and black - the exploited majority, with just a black minority with access to better living conditions. That is part of the elite minority that is in power.
In the sense of the immediate investigation of the facts and punish those responsible, those who subscribe to this statement we demand of South African President, Jacob Zuma, to order the immediate arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators, to open an investigation to purge all the responsibilities, including mining company in the slaughter, to compensate injured workers and repressed by the police and the families of those who died, and to intervene in the conflict in order to force the mining company to meet the demands of the miners .
All miners in South Africa and especially to those of Marikana, our deepest sympathy and our unconditional solidarity.
