Peter Rizun: A Bitcoin Fee Market Without A Blocksize Limit (Episode 172)
Support the show, consider donating: 16LVjxWGTbQuTV7Nxmpa1gCSfidbPpa71S (http://bit.ly/2me3j6i) With both the Bitcoin Unlimited and Segregated Witness efforts far from reaching majority support and exploding transaction fees, the debate around how to scale Bitcoin continues on. One of the key arguments against bigger blocks and Bitcoin Unlimited is that a blocksize restriction is needed to create a healthy fee market. Dr Peter Rizun has been researching the economics of transaction fees in Bitcoin extensively and joined us to discuss what dynamics affect fees and why he thinks the blocksize limit will eventually fall. Topics discussed in this episode: - Bitcoin seen through the eyes of a physicist - The dynamics that determine transaction fees in Bitcoin - How orphaning risks drive the fee market economics - The relationship between the block reward and the fee market - Why the blocksize limit will eventually fall - Why Peter supports Bitcoin Unlimited - The state of discussion between Bitcoin Core and Bitcoin Unlimited Links mentioned in this episode: - Dr. Peter Rizun's talk at Scaling Bitcoin Montreal 2015: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ad0Pjj_ms2k - Dr. Peter Rizun: "A Transaction Fee Market Exists Without a Block Size Limit": https://www.bitcoinunlimited.info/resources/feemarket.pdf - XT Nodes - Bitcoin Hashrate Distribution: http://xtnodes.com/ - Bitco.in Forum: https://bitco.in/forum/ - Ledger - Peer-Reviewed Journal on Cryptocurrency and Blockchain: http://ledgerjournal.org/ojs/index.php/ledger Sponsors: - Jaxx: Wallets that Unify the Blockchain Experience Across Devices - http://jaxx.io - Ledger: Smart card security for your Bitcoins - Get 10% off your first order when you use the code EPICENTER - http://ledgerwallet.com This episode is also available on : - Epicenter.tv: https://epicenter.tv/172 - YouTube: http://youtu.be/2eaMVWUXW8U - Souncloud: http://soundcloud.com/epicenterbitcoin/eb-172 Watch or listen, Epicenter is available wherever you get your podcasts. Difference between HODL & SAVING & WARNING to BTC HODLers: Core lowering block size to 300KB
If you HODL only, you are participating in a Ponzi scheme, HODL means buying then selling later for higher price to someone else, means not intending to use it. SAVING means buying an actual useful crypto (which is BSV) and intending to use it later as intended... not selling it back to fiat or selling to someone else. WARNING to all BTC HODL-ers (admit it, this is what you are), once Core devs lower the block size limit to 300KB, you will be stuck with that useless BTC and won't even be able to move it to exchange to sell it.

Blockchain 101 Ep 62 - Why does Bitcoin need to scale?
Bitcoin’s current block size limit is 1MB and processes about 7 transactions per second. With the constant increase in Bitcoin’s trading volume, the Bitcoin Network finds it difficult to process transaction records fast, resulting in network congestion. The Bitcoin Blockchain receives thousands of transactions on the Blockchain, leading to an increase in transaction fees as people pay more to process their transactions first. Bitcoin transaction costs can be as high as tens of US dollars. When the network is congested, Bitcoin transactions may take several days to process. Consequently, a discussion on how to scale capacity has began. Since 2013, there have been numerous proposed scalability solutions. Some proposed increasing the block size limit while some proposed removing redundant information from the block. Roger Ver has done great things for Bitcoin. Many people like him personally and do not want to publicly disagree with him. Roger holds a lot of Bitcoin. $138,000 - $300,000 Bitcoin during the next bull run.
$138,000 - $300,000 Bitcoin during the next bull run. Topic List & Time Stamps: • WHEN will the next Bull Run be? (Time Forecast) (0:40-) • HOW HIGH will the prices go??? (Price Forecast) (6:03-) • Block Size capacity monkey wrench (9:16-) • Other Cryptocurrencies (Altcoin Prediction) (10:41-) One variable may affect this: How will FEES on the BTC network affect the price reaching these levels? Lightning network will most likely NOT be widely adopted enough to alleviate the congestion by this time. We're still totally on track, and how we are still perfectly forming a bowl shape (show graphs and past drawing with the line through it). Same prediction as before. Here is a low-ball, conservative, rough guestimation of what we'll MINIMALLY see next price surge: BITCOIN (BTC) price over $138,000 BITCOIN CASH price over $10,000 ETHEREUM (ETH) price over $4,000 EOS (EOS) price over $114 CARDANO (ADA) price over $1.70 Again, this is a VERY ROUGH guess of what we'll see. Obviously each coin will vary according to what the market values it at. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Disclaimer: The views expressed in this video are strictly my own and are not to be construed as trading advice. BTC News 2017 - Segwit & lightning network locked in. What does this mean? Segwit explained David
David Hay presents BTC News 2017 - Lightning network and Segwit are now locked in. Find out how this will effect you. When Bitcoin was designed it used 1mb blocks which at time time seemed like more than enough as the network grew and more transactions were conducted the network started to get backed up. With the current 1mb block size it is only possible to process around 6 transactions per second. While services like visa and master card can handle 1000s. Bitcoin allows users to set their own fees so as the network became more and more overloaded more and more users bid up the cost of getting to the front of the line. Now everyone agrees that bitcoin needs a better way to scale but not everyone agrees on the best method. Crypto currencies like dash use centralized masternodes that act a little bit like banks and a 400mb block chain. IOTA uses local mesh webs instead of chains and now it looks like everyone has agreed to use Segrigated witness on bitcoin Digital signature accounts for 65% of the space in a given transaction. SegWit attempts to ignore the data attached to a signature by stripping off the signature from within the input and moving it to a structure towards the end of a transaction. This would increase the 1 MB limit for block sizes to a little under 4 MB. In addition to slightly increasing the capacity size of blocks, SegWit also solves the problem where a receiver could intercept and modify the sender's transaction ID in a bid to get more coins from the sender. Since the digital signature would be detached from the input, the unscrupulous party would have no way of changing the transaction ID without also nullifying the transaction Miners are always slow to implement changes on the bitcoin network there job and financial interest in with security and stability so even though users are screaming for lower transaction fees and faster confirmation times the fear and uncertainty of the unknown has caused change to happen slowly. Now the miners have seen segwith being successfully used on the litecoin network it seems everyone is now in agreement on the best way to move forward. It is important to understand that once segwit is implemented there is no way to go back Which is why there was talk of a hard fork if everyone couldn't agree on the best way to move forward. Segwit makes it much easier to implement the lightning network and other payment channels Lightning network will allow for microtransactions, a real time payment processing Uses a multi sig to setup a payment channel.Only time you need to write to the block chain is when you are opening or closing a channel which is the only time you need to pay the miners to process the transactions. Great for microtransactions It could be the scaling solution for bitcoin Removes the need to immediately send the payments to the block chain. No need to wait for confirmation times If there is a disagreement between the two parties the last transaction that the both parties agreed to is considered law. An individual party may withdraw their balance Disavantages Users have to be constantly online to sign the transactions. Not useful for large single transactions Nodes need to monitor blockchain to make sure lightning payment channel isn't closed

Bitcoin vs Litecoin vs Bitcoin Cash (Comparison)
Bitcoin is great vary to store value and preform large peer to peer transactions. It is very valuable because, its security was never compromised. Risk it’s security and decentralization in order to increase block size may not be the best answer for scaling for the long term. Litecoin is best for conduction smaller peer to peer transaction, because reduction of confirmation time makes Litecoin the fastest out of all three. Bitcoin Cash has the cheapest transaction fees out of all three coins and it is probably has the best use case when it come to day-to-day transactions, but large blocks size limit may cause some vulnerability when it comes to decentralization and security ================================================== 🚀Let’s connect on Steemit: https://steemit.com/@astakhiv92 ================================================== 💰Get a Coinbase Wallet! - https://www.coinbase.com/join/5a4bf25... What is Bitcoin Cash? | CORindex
In the middle of 2017, a team of coders wanting to increase bitcoin's block size limit were ready for a code change. The adjustment, called a hard fork, took effect on the 1st of August 2017. The outcome, a bitcoin ledger called the blockchain and the cryptocurrency split in two. At the time anyone who owned bitcoin was also occupying the same number of Bitcoin Cash. The rising cost of transactions on the bitcoin network lead to a push by some in the community to establish a hard fork to expand the blocksize. This push began in early July 2017 when a few members of the Bitcoin community along with “Roger Ver” felt that accepting BIP 91 beyond increasing the block-size limit favored the community who wanted to deal with Bitcoin as a digital investment instead of as a transactional currency. This commended by some to increase the block size met a resistance. Since its beginning up to July 2017, all bitcoin users had managed a common set of rules for the cryptocurrency. Ultimately, a number of individuals of entrepreneurs, investors, developers, bitcoin activists, and mainly Chinese miners weren’t too happy with the bitcoin proposal. The “SegWit” revision plans determined to up the volume and push forward alternative plans for a fork which established Bitcoin Cash. The planned fork included a plan to boost the number of exchanges its ledger can measure by expanding the block size limit to 8 megabytes. The apiring hard fork with an extended block size limit was defined by hardware manufacturer Bitmain in mid June 2017 as a "contingency plan" if the Bitcoin community considered to fork; the first discharge of the software was scheduled under the name “Bitcoin ABC” at a bitcoin conference that month. By the end of July 2017, the Bitcoin Cash name was arranged by the mining pool Via BTC. In the beginning of 2018 Bitcoin Core creator, Cory Fields found a computer glitch in the “Bitcoin ABC” software that would have granted a hacker to establish a block causing a chain split. Fields advised the development team immediately about the issue and the bug was resolved. The research group “Chainanalysis” explained in mid May 2018, that 17 large payment processing services such as GoCoin, BitPay, and Coinify prepared Bitcoin Cash wages worth of up to $3.7 million US, down from the $10.5 million US that was processed in March. Bitcoin Cash is also nicknamed “Bcash”. SegWit Allowing for Bitcoin Blocks That Are Over 100% Bigger
This story is from https://bitcoinnews.com/, read the full article at https://bitcoinnews.com/segwit-allowing-for-bitcoin-blocks-that-are-over-100-bigger/ BitMEX Research has found that the Bitcoin block size limit has increased by over 100% since the implementation of segregated witness (SegWit) in August 2017. Formerly there was a hard cap of 1 MB on block size, but since the launch of SegWit there are numerous blocks up to 1.5 MB in size and even some blocks in excess of 2 MB. This is positive for the Bitcoin network since it allows more transactions per block and decreases congestion in the mempool, leading to lower transaction fees. Lower Bitcoin transaction fees have a positive effect on the entire crypto economy.

Bitcoin Cash new cryptocurrency explained! Bitcoin August Fork Split
Please watch: "How Facebook targeted advertisements track you online, offline and where they sell your private data" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9sFl2qGedFQ -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Hi, this is Bitcoin Cash explained video. What is Bitcoin Cash? A new cryptocurrency was created as fork of original Bitcoin. Explaining Bitcoin Cash is like trying to shoot a moving target - there is lot going on in with the new blockchain. At some point, it looked like Bitcoin Cash will crash, but right now it does receive more support from mining pools. After all, everybody who owned bitcoins on August 1st would be rewarded equal amount Bitcoin Cash. That's some extra money for free, right? This video is about Bitcoin Cash explained! Enjoy my bitcoin cash video explanation! Well not so many people were to eager to deal with Bitcoin Cash, which resulted in a state where it was impossible to move it, sell it, or cash for fiat money (e.g. dollars). So what is Bitcoin Cash exactly? What is bitcoin cash? Bitcoin Cash is a fork of Bitcoin. Bitcoin is an open source cryptocurrency that relies on pure mathematics and economics to determine its value. Since the software of Bitcoin is open source, anybody can take it and create their own currency. The real catch here is that it needs to be supported, if you want it to have any value. Bitcoin cash fork a new cryptocurrency Bitcoin Cash was created because some developers and few big mining pools wanted to increase size of Bitcoin blocks from 1 MB to 8 MB. Each block holds a number of transaction, which take up some space of bytes. These are blocks are validated by solving difficult puzzles, for which miners receive rewards (Bitcoins). Bitcoin blocksize limit debate However, the bitcoin's block size limit allowed maximum of 7 transactions a minute. And as Bitcoin grows in number of users, this cap was soon to be hit, which resulted in slow down of confirmations of transactions. Bitcoin growth The limit is made to secure the network and ensure its decentralized nature that prevents big players from gaining control. That wasn't appealing to some people who view Bitcoin's growth as more important than decantralization and security. This dispute over Bitcoin's block size limit was going on for over 2 years and escalated into now forking Bitcoin Cash as a separate cryptocurrency independent from Bitcoin. Both Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash exist and trade simultaneously, and they have no direct effects on another. Difference between Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash is now like between Bitcoin and Ethereum, or any other cryptocurrency in the world. What does Bitcoin split to Bitcoin Cash mean in the long run? That's really hard to tell. Bitcoin Cash was made to surpass or even replace original bitcoin, but bitcoin is now growing value, surpassing $3,000 dollar milestone just after the fork of Bitcoin Cash. Bitcoin will implement SegWit, Segregated Witness, to deal with the pressure of its own growth. You'll learn what is segwit in this video. Nevertheless, it's going to be extremely interesting and worthwhile studying cryptocurrency as they keep growing on value, influence, and bitcoin is now even entering mainstream. What is BITCOIN SCALABILITY PROBLEM? What does BITCOIN SCALABILITY PROBLEM mean? BITCOIN SCALABILITY PROBLEM meaning - BITCOIN SCALABILITY PROBLEM definition - BITCOIN SCALABILITY PROBLEM explanation. SUBSCRIBE to our Google Earth flights channel - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6UuCPh7GrXznZi0Hz2YQnQ Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. The bitcoin scalability problem refers to the limits on the amount of transactions the bitcoin network can process. It is a consequence of the fact that records (known as blocks) in the bitcoin blockchain are limited in size and frequency. Bitcoin's blocks include the transactions on the bitcoin network.:ch. 2 The transaction processing capacity of the bitcoin network is limited by the average block creation time of 10 minutes and the block size limit. These jointly constrain the network's throughput. The transaction processing capacity maximum is estimated between 3.3 and 7 transactions per second. There are various proposed and activated solutions to address this issue. The one-megabyte limit has created a bottleneck in bitcoin, resulting in increasing transaction fees and delayed processing of transactions that cannot be fit into a block. Various proposals have come forth on how to scale bitcoin, and a contentious debate has resulted. Business Insider in 2017 characterized this debate as an "ideological battle over bitcoin's future." Dealing with scalability problems requires making changes to the technical workings of bitcoin, in a process known as a fork. Forks can be grouped into two types: 1. Hard fork! A hard fork occurs when a blockchain splits into two incompatible separate chains. This is a consequence of the use of two incompatible sets of rules trying to govern the system. For example, Ethereum has hard-forked to "make whole" the investors in The DAO, which had been hacked by exploiting a vulnerability in its code. In 2014 the Nxt community was asked to consider a hard fork that would have led to a rollback of the blockchain records to mitigate the effects of a theft of 50 million NXT from a major cryptocurrency exchange. The hard fork proposal was rejected, and some of the funds were recovered after negotiations and ransom payment. Bitcoin Cash and Bitcoin Gold are examples of hard forks of bitcoin. Bitcoin XT and Bitcoin Classic both supported an increase to the maximum block size through a hard fork. Bitcoin Unlimited supports a variable block size limit, which may result in a hard fork. 2. Soft fork! In contrast to a hard fork, a soft fork is a change of rules that creates blocks recognized as valid by the old software, i.e. it is backwards-compatible. A soft fork can also split the network when non-upgraded software creates blocks not considered valid by the new rules. A user-activated soft fork (UASF) is a controversial idea that explores how to perform a blockchain upgrade that is not supported by those who provide the network's hashing power. Segregated Witness is an example of a soft fork. Various proposals for scaling bitcoin have been presented. In 2015, BIP 100 by Jeff Garzik and BIP 101 by Gavin Andresen were introduced. By mid-2015, some developers were supporting a block size limit of as high as eight megabytes. Bitcoin XT was proposed in 2015 to increase the transaction processing capacity of bitcoin by increasing the block size limit. Bitcoin Classic was proposed in 2016 to increase the transaction processing capacity of bitcoin by increasing the block size limit. "The Hong Kong Agreement" was a 2016 agreement of some miners and developers, colloquially termed "The Hong Kong Agreement," that contained a timetable that would see both the activation of the Segregated Witness (SegWit) proposal established in December 2015 by Bitcoin Core developers, and the development of a block size limit increased to 2 MB. However, both timelines were missed. SegWit2x was a proposed hard fork of the cryptocurrency bitcoin. The implementation of Segregated Witness in August 2017 was only the first half of the so-called "New York Agreement" by which those who wanted to increase effective block size by SegWit compromised with those who wanted to increase block size by a hard fork to a larger block size. The second half of SegWit2x involved a hard fork in November 2017 to increase the blocksize to 2 megabytes. On November 8, 2017 the developers of SegWit2x announced that the hard fork planned for around November 16, 2017 was canceled for the time being due to a lack of consensus....

Coins are created and transfered using an open source cryptographic protocol and are not managed by any central authority. Thanks to the adoption of Segregated Witness, and the Lightning Network, bitcoincash has some technical advantages over Bitcoin and other major cryptocurrencies. It is capable of handling a greater number of transactions in a given time and thus reducing potential bottlenecks, as seen with Bitcoin. Also, payment cost of bitcoincash is nearly zero and it’s payment speed is approximately four times greater than that of Bitcoin. History? Rising fees on the bitcoin network contributed to a push by some in the community to create a hard fork to increase the blocksize. This push came to a head in July 2017 some members of the Bitcoin community including Roger Ver felt that adopting BIP 91 without increasing the block-size limit favored people who wanted to treat Bitcoin as a digital investment rather than as a transactional currency. This push by some to increase the block size met a resistance. Since its inception, Bitcoin users had maintained a common set of rules for the cryptocurrency. Eventually, a group of bitcoin activists, investors, entrepreneurs, developers and largely China based miners were unhappy with bitcoin's proposed SegWit improvement plans meant to increase capacity and pushed forward alternative plans for a split which created Bitcoin Cash. The proposed split included a plan to increase the number of transactions its ledger can process by increasing the block size limit to eight megabytes. Bitcoin cash is not one of the fastest cryptocurrency per transaction. And it is good investment for economic crisis. Read more: What Is Litecoin And How Does It Work? Trading? Bitcoin Cash trades on digital currency exchanges including Bitstamp, Coinbase, Gemini, Kraken, and ShapeShift using the Bitcoin Cash name and the BCH ticker symbol for the cryptocurrency. A few other exchanges use the BCC ticker symbol, though BCC is commonly used for Bitconnect. On 26 March 2018, OKEX removed all Bitcoin Cash trading pairs except for BCH/BTC, BCH/ETH and BCH/USDT due to "inadequate liquidity". As of May 2018, daily transaction numbers for Bitcoin Cash are about one-tenth of those of bitcoin. By November 2017 the value of Bitcoin Cash, which had been as high as $900, had fallen to around $300, much of that due to people who had originally held Bitcoin selling off the Bitcoin Cash they received at the hard fork. BITCOIN CASH - What Is Bitcoin Cash - How It Works - Bitcoin Cash Review
BITCOIN CASH - What Is Bitcoin Cash - How It Works - Bitcoin Cash Review ★ WEBSITE ➤ – https://www.bitcoincash.org/ ★ TRADE OTHER CURRENCIES ➤ http://tokenbyte.net/trade What Is BCash? BCash, BCH, BCC or sometimes called Bitcoin Cash is a digital currency that has been created using a fork of the Bitcoin Network. If you were holding Bitcoin during the time of the fork (August 1, 2017), you also have an equivalent BCash in the forked BCash blockchain. To answer a long debate in the Bitcoin community regarding Bitcoin’s best way of scaling unto more users, BCash came into life. In the Bitcoin codebase the best and simple solution being followed is to increase the Max Block size Limit parameter. Compared to Bitcoin’s block size limit which is at one megabyte or ~250K transactions perday, BCash increased that limit to 8MB, which can cater 2 million transactions per day. In terms of user’s concerned in both Bitcoin and BCash, there is just a very tiny difference on the frontend. In short, BCash delivers more transaction per day compared to Bitcoin and with lower fees compared to the later. There are some who contradict the presence of BCash for individual reasons and wish to undermine it as a practical other option to Bitcoin. Rather than offering a specialized or monetary scrutinize of BCash these individuals allude to BCash as "bcash" via web-based networking media with the expectation that this moniker will prompt perplexity and reduce reception rates. In the event that your wallet or trade utilizes the expression "bcash" they are likely alluding to BCash; at the same time, it ought to be noticed that "bcash" is not the best possible name, nor a usually utilized truncation of BCash, and is an unfriendly endeavor to confound clients. It is best to continue with alert when managing any individual who might utilize the expression "bcash" rather than the money's real name, BCash. Getting Started With BCash Regardless of whether you choose to utilize BCash or not is totally up to you. While Bitcoin at present has a bigger system and supporting framework, many are disheartened by the regularly expanding charges and long exchange times. BCash offers bring down charges and a more solid rate of exchange than Bitcoin. As far as improvement, the vast majority of the code for BCash is precisely the same Bitcoin's. This influences creating programming or adjusting existing programming to help Bitcoin to money very basic. Basically, there is nothing that you need to do to get your BitcoinCash – as long as you officially claim some bitcoins. Fork made BCash so a large number of bitcoin users should now have a similar measure of BCash tokens as BCash. For whatever length of time that regardless you approach your private bitcoin keys, you ought to have the capacity to do what you need with your new tokens. What's more, thanks bitcoin's overhauled replay conventions, there ought to be no hazard in coincidentally spending BitcoinCash rather than bitcoins. You may choose to give the cash some an opportunity to pick up a solid footing available before you choose to begin exchanging your cash. How to Get a BCash Wallet? Segregating Bitcoins in TREZOR TREZOR currently doing some fix on their wallet since they don't have enough time to work on the Bcash code for they only have one week for it. You can just use an online tool in TREZOR to split your BCash and sending it simultaneously to a BCH address. Conclusion Once the BCash advertise starts to flourish, it will likewise demonstrate that this innovation split does not really mean one is superior to the next or that one needs beyond words influence the other to survive yet rather that both can survive and help in the development of the system and the innovation. This could likewise bring about lower exchange charges for both bitcoin and BCash which would, thusly, imply that financial specialists and merchants will probably get more bitcoins and BCash. This lessening in charges can be accomplished because of the way that BCash has extended the measure of the system which would imply that there is less blockage now. Such favorable circumstances are probably going to drive increasingly of Bitcoin's merchants and excavators towards BCash and this would enable this market to flourish, to develop mechanically and furthermore to develop to be a case for different cryptographic forms of money. The current split marvel will support trust in such instruments which would, thusly, prompt more nations starting to embrace such innovation. As of now, the Bitcoin showcase has started to demonstrate its endorsement as the request has developed and costs have shot through the $3000 stamp to head towards the $3500 check as of this written work. This demonstrates the Bitcoin organize is alive and flourishing too, which is probably going to enable Bitcoin to money accomplish a similar impact.

In the case of the unit name, it is written "bitcoin" and in the case of the peer-to-peer payment system it is written "Bitcoin". The idea was first presented in November 2008 by a person, or a group of people, under the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto. The source code of the reference implementation was published in 2009. The G20 considers that Bitcoin is a "crypto-active" that does not fulfil the role of a currency. The term "crypto-active" then refers to "virtual assets stored on an electronic medium allowing a community of users accepting them as payment to carry out transactions without having to use legal currency". To create and manage Bitcoins, Bitcoin relies on software. In this software, bitcoins are created according to a protocol that rewards agents who have processed transactionsnote . These agents use their computer computing power to verify, secure and record transactions in a virtual registry, called the blockchain, in French a chain of blocks, a name that comes from the fact that Bitcoin's base entity is called a block, and that the blocks are then linked into a chain, the block chain. For each new block accepted, the verification-security-recording activity, called mining, is remunerated by newly created bitcoins and by the costs of the transactions processed. As currency or commodity, Bitcoins can be exchanged for other currencies or commodities, goods or services. The exchange rate of cryptomonnaise is set mainly on specialised marketplaces and fluctuates according to the law of supply and demand. Bitcoins can be purchased online on specialized platforms. These platforms also make it possible to monitor in real time the evolution of the price of bitcoin against other currencies or crypto. Bitcoin contribution https://ibb.co/gzdvrL

Bitcoin Softfork vs Hardfork | Cryptocurrency For Beginners + Segwit
Cryptocurrency For Beginners - btc hardfork vs softfork explained What is a bitcoin softfork : A soft fork is a fork where updated versions of the protocol are backwards compatible with previous versions. Older versions of the Bitcoin software will recognize new blocks. Conducting a soft fork of the Bitcoin software has less of a chaotic effect on the network as only a majority of node operators need to upgrade. When a soft fork change is made, all nodes (whether upgraded or not) will continue to recognize new blocks and maintain consensus on the Blockchain. A hard fork change can be tricky. A hard fork is a change of the Bitcoin protocol that is not backwards compatible with older versions of the client. Any participants running a node in the Bitcoin network would absolutely need to upgrade their software in order to recognize new blocks. What is a bitcoin hardfork : Hardforks ease block acceptance rules making previously invalid blocks valid in the new version. Obviously, this is not forward compatible as older versions will not accept the new blocks, causing the users of the old paradigm to remain on their own blockchain-fork indefinitely. To implement a hardfork, without a blockchain-fork, all users must switch to the new protocol consensually. Why is btc dropping : Uncertainty over bitcoins future has caused some investors to pull back. Will bitcoin split ? It currently looks like a negative. Segwit : SegWit is the process by which the block size limit on a blockchain is increased by removing signature data from Bitcoin transactions. Segregated Witness in short, means to separate transaction signatures. Bitcoin Q&A: SegWit and fork research
How likely is a hard fork to increase the block size in the future? Under what conditions might that happen? What is being prioritised in the roadmap? A blockchain is a digitized, decentralized, public ledger of all cryptocurrency transactions. Constantly growing as ‘completed’ blocks (the most recent transactions) are recorded and added to it in chronological order, it allows market participants to keep track of digital currency transactions without central record-keeping. Each node (a computer connected to the network) gets a copy of the blockchain, which is downloaded automatically. Originally developed as the accounting method for the virtual currency Bitcoin, blockchains – which use what's known as distributed ledger technology (DLT) – are appearing in a variety of commercial applications today. Currently, the technology is primarily used to verify transactions, within digital currencies though it is possible to digitize, code and insert practically any document into the blockchain. Doing so creates an indelible record that cannot be changed; furthermore, the record’s authenticity can be verified by the entire community using the blockchain instead of a single centralized authority. A block is the ‘current’ part of a blockchain, which records some or all of the recent transactions. Once completed, a block goes into the blockchain as a permanent database. Each time a block gets completed, a new one is generated. There is a countless number of such blocks in the blockchain, connected to each other (like links in a chain) in proper linear, chronological order. Every block contains a hash of the previous block. The blockchain has complete information about different user addresses and their balances right from the genesis block to the most recently completed block. The blockchain was designed so these transactions are immutable, meaning they cannot be deleted. The blocks are added through cryptography, ensuring that they remain meddle-proof: The data can be distributed, but not copied. However, the ever-growing size of the blockchain is considered by some to be a problem, creating issues of storage and synchronization. Is Bitcoin Dead? - The Bitcoin Experiment Article by Mike Hearn (FULL AUDIO) - Blocksize Debate
Get our Free Bitcoin Report: http://crushthestreet.com/bitcoin ORIGINAL ARTICLE TITLE: The resolution of the Bitcoin experiment — Medium (2016-01-14 medium.com) Bitcoin Post by Mike Hearn LINK: https://medium.com/@octskyward/the-resolution-of-the-bitcoin-experiment-dabb30201f7 OUR TAKE: We don't believe the bitcoin software is over, in fact far from it. It has faced plenty of similar setbacks. Stemming from a problem that is caused by too many users coming on too quickly, it is obvious it's not a problem from lacking demand. When the problem gets too tough the passionate bitcoiners and those dependent on the system will for sure work out a solution; whether that be temporary or small blocksize increase or a larger one, it will happen.
